Aaand then any sympathy the Simulacrum would have for you is completely gone. XD
<Snipped quote by TheSovereignGrave>

All the Terran Union can say about that is "Yeah, we almost did."

That's better than the Simulacrum can say. Their species actually did.

Twice.

Meanwhile The Solsys network is posting semi-sentient P O S T M E T A I R O N I C M E M E S

Whelp, I think we know which nation has the dankest of memes. I take it that'll be your primary export?
Meanwhile the Simulacrum are wondering how a species who can't even inherently feel the emotions of others nearby managed to survive long enough to get into space without killing itself off.
I'd make a joke about the Marshal of the Terran Union being a masochist, but the IC hasn't started yet so I haven't introduced him as a character. But yeah he's totally a masochist.
(Not really)
(Okay maybe)
(Possibly)
(He's DEFINITELY a sub though)

Wait... Do people exist who're both a masochist and a dom? Would that just be, like, forcing someone to "hurt" you?

I could definitely see some kinship there-sounds like both of them would understand the value of restraint-and asking if they should, before asking if they could.

They've both been screwed over by people playing around with advanced technology like a kitten with a ball of string-often in horrific ways. That....that teaches some hard lessons, lessons that cross the species boundary yeah?

In some ways, possibly. The Simulacrum's origin was undoubtedly farther in the past than your people's ordeal with the AI, and for the Simulacrum it more instilled in them and their descendants an appreciation for individuality and the life of others. Of course, if somebody did begin to go too far than the consequences would be swift and dire. Not to mention the Simulacrum don't really have any sort of AI technology (they have advanced programs, but nothing approaching sentience/sapience and many agree such a thing wouldn't be in their best interest) and genetic manipulation isn't really a thing unless you count cloning and that's primarily because they'd just die out without it.
<Snipped quote by ClocktowerEchos>

Oh, they're not that oppressive. Or willing to kill their own citizens. There's just....alot of quiet desperation to them.

They're sort of inspired, partially, by the purity faction in Beyond Earth. Clinging to the past because the present has kicked them around but good, often with the technology someone said would be a salvation. Seeing other factions running around with tech they've seen abused, they know can be abused, in horrible ways...

Well.

I'd start to polish my artillery pieces too.

...

And I'm saving that link.

While they probably didn't have it as badly as the Neo-Soviets, Terminus and the Simulacrum might feel some kinship with the Neo-Soviets just due to the simple fact that they were both born from horrific adversity. I haven't filled out my history section yet, but the species that the Simulacrum belong to destroyed themselves. Twice. Imagine the Vaults from Fallout, and you'd have a pretty good idea of what the first Simulacrum were 'born' into. It was a biological research lab experimenting with a variety of things, including cloning, who subjected the clones to horrific experiments for the good of the 'future' of the species. Of course eventually the clones escaped, rose up, and butchered almost everyone in the lab. Then the remnants of their species began another war and destroyed themselves again while the Simulacrum were still beneath the ground, and they emerged to find their entire species extinct aside from themselves and they had the unenviable position of rebuilding civilization.

I'm not 100% certain of what it was that killed caused the 'ends of the world' though. Under normal circumstances I'd just go with nuclear war, but nukes aren't as effective in a vacuum.
Wow, I almost feel bad for the poor Commie sod.
Hurray for cloning! It's really the best way to go about things; no feed to fuss over all the messy details of going natural. And you can choose who gets to have kids! That way the poor don't just keeping making more, smaller poor people.
Are you going for something themed after the Silence from Doctor Who? That's the first impression I get anyways.

Nope; I don't even watch Dr. Who, actually. Though I have heard of them. I think. They're the ones you forget about if you look away, right?

Anyway, it's probably the whole mouthless thing they have going on. The Silence don't have mouths, right? Or at least not very visible ones.

Well, all of the cities of the Union are fairly autonomous, but Archeos more so, and it isn't ruled by the Dratha. But it has been closely allied with the Union on and off and would be known to the Singing Hive folks as a haunted and particularly dangerous and mysterious place. It is known widely as the Silent City and is ruled by an entity known as the Silent King, who is alternately rumored to be a demon or red god, a powerful sorcerer or necromancer, or something worse. Qux Many Eyed, introduced in gorgenmast's post, is his envoy to the Union. It would be safe to assume that Archeos has destroyed at least one Nyr'Kiin hive, and is more closely allied with Archmagister Khalul than with the Union as a whole. Not sure how much of that the Hive would know.

Great post btw.

Honestly, as far as the Singing Hive would be concerned there probably isn't any appreciable different between Archeos and the rest of the cities in the Drathan Union.
