The Silent Imperium's relations to non-Dominion factions will need to eventually be worked out since I don't my faction's whole existence to be 'those things that really hate the dominion' despite that oath they took over a thousand years ago. A thousand years is a lot of time, they are bound to have gotten wrapped up in other affairs by than, especially with their tendency to fumble about.

I could see the Terminus trying to help some of the Tikalli when they made contact. Granted the Terminus likely doesn't have a particularly pleasant view of the Silent Imperium itself, seeing how the Simulacrum put a major emphasis on personal freedom and liberty. They'd probably get along far better with the non-Pact aligned Tikalli; hell, I can even imagine the Terminus having given some of them a garden world. After all, worlds like that are more difficult for the Simulacrum to live on.
Whelp, I've been working on my sheet and it's almost done. Just gotta finish the tech section and get some history down. So I should be good to go pretty soon.
@Commodore Robot Cool, cool. My thought is that the Congregation previously held a few systems some hundreds of years ago that the Dominion now controls. The wars fought over those star systems never escalated to anything involving the full force of either of our factions, and the current lordship is mostly busy internally quarreling to bother pressing their claims on those star systems. Would something like that work fine for you?

@WrongEndoftheRainbow The UU is situated somewhere on the galactic rim, correct? I'm not entirely sure how coreward/rimward my territory lies, but I didn't exactly envision them on the cusp of the intergalactic void like I assumed your faction is. Depending on where the UU is and where my other neighbors end up being situated, maybe we can work something out.

Hmmm, then perhaps it's best for us specifically to not be neighbours. The Terminus is specifically located on the cusp of the intergalactic void, it's actually in the name. :D It's right on the tail of one of the galaxy's spiral arms. Though UU doesn't have to be on the rim; you could be on the edge of the galaxy and literally right above the core, but naturally Rainbow has the final say in where his nation is planted.
Anyone want to have a pre-existing relationship with the Dominion? Friends, allies, ancient enemies, or other such fun things? One idea which comes to mind is that within the last few decades there was a conflict between our two races which culminated in the destruction of a Dominion antimatter world and the Dominion's subsequent surrender(Plus the execution and replacement of the Vaata-Kreg which allowed such a disaster). Now an uneasy peace exists as the Dominion has spent the years since rebuilding their infrastructure and licking their wounds. But I'm open to anything anyone wants to suggest.

@Commodore Robot I'd be keen to have some neighbors, personally. Have you pegged a figure for how expansive the Dominion is? The Congregation is twenty-one star systems, though they aren't entirely unified. It's possible the Congregation and Dominion have had some border clashes or small, localized wars over a star or two.

If anyone else would like a neighbor, I'm interested in figuring out my local region. So if you're looking for anyone to fill a role as your unfriendly neighborhood grumps whose shouting matches in the dining room can always be heard across the street, I've got the guys.

I wouldn't be opposed to already being in contact with other civilizations. Though there isn't likely to have been a war between them and the Terminus unless the one of you started it.
<Snipped quote by TheSovereignGrave>Probably the lat one.
Each player can decide how they want this. I know that my civ will be oblivious to everyone else in the beginning. I also know that if Ophidian still plays his and Keyguy's communists would be at each other's throats from the beginning.

I don't think Ophidian's coming back. He seemed pretty final this time. :/
Hey, so a question. Are we all going to start off with having had no contact with one another? And needing to establish first contact? Or will some species have met one another? Or is it just up to the individual players to figure that out?
<Snipped quote by Brithwyr>Or perhaps you have some tech which blocks your emphaty to others?
Having telepathic link between all your forces is a considerable edge. If I were you I wouldn't waste it.

Maybe. I mean, I have been planning on having that kind of technology for awhile; it was used by the scientists who created the first clone Simulacrum so that they didn't have to feel the thoughts and emotions of the clones they were experimenting on. And it wouldn't really matter in most cases, since they're not liable to fight other Simulacrum too much.

EDIT: Also, I think you quoted the wrong post there.
<Snipped quote by Brithwyr>I think neither of these are quite used in the NRP yet.
We have opressive empire and telepathy-linked pacifists but none of the above.
On the other hand we have no less than 3 communist states with each hating the others.

Well, the Simulacrum aren't total pacifists. They're just far more inclined to pursue peaceful resolutions, because of the whole 'feel the thoughts and emotions of others around them' and 'our species fucked the world twice' things. But if it's necessary, they will fight. They won't like it, but they'll fight.

Hmmm, actually now that I think about it I think I'll have the ground forces of the Terminus made up almost entirely of unmanned drones. Makes sense that empaths like the Simulacrum would prefer to leave the ground slog to machines rather than actual people.
...You know I fee like I should mention Ophidian even though he asked us not to, because I think he may have misunderstood things in a manner similar to me. Like, it sounded like something that'd just bypass most people's defenses.
You know, I'm gonna have to agree with Ophidian on this matter. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like it's just a "hey it ignores almost everybody's defenses" weapon. :/

EDIT: Wait, so it's just a fancy way of saying 'it destroys stuff'? I mean, the way you describes it made it kinda seem more than that.
