Maxi had, of course, done a proper job of his work; going against the commanders direct orders was a risk he didn’t want to test. He’d have a chance in the future to get some revenge for potato brains actions, and he was patient enough to wait until that time. Until then, though, the imbecile had staggered out in an idiotic mess in a rush to who knew where, leaving Maxi to clean up the mess he made. What an ingrate this dude was. He half hoped they got another medic soon so they could be the one to deal with the idiots on the ship.

He had just finished cleaning up the broken jars, salvaging any lost medicine, and overall tidying and organizing the room when the speakers came on. This ship sure liked meetings, didn’t it? He really thought he had better ways to use his time than to go up for yet another meeting, but alas, captain's orders. He never even got the chance to grab anything for his headache, though it was settling itself down more and more. Once he was sure the room was tidied, he gestured with two fingers for his bot to follow him and left the room.

The meeting was rather brief and boring. Useless in his eyes. Mission well done, they’d be laying low and picking someone new up from Minos station. Hopefully this newbie wasn’t as bad as potato brain. Heh, for a while he was the newbie, and now there was already someone else that came to take that title. There was nothing he specifically needed, so he departed once the meeting was over. Everyone was so engaged with each other that he had some peace to himself. After all that tidying up and completing a procedure, he thought he ought to sit down and take a break. He wondered if there was anything to do on the ship outside of prepare weapons and be an idiot. Some games could be nice. He made his way down the the common area and took a seat on one of the couches, and plucked his bot out of the air. He wanted to double check the repairs on his robot, to see how they were done and to what standard.
“That sounds fine by me” Bonny said, giving a small nod of agreement to Sally for her choice. Reagan sounded like a pretty interesting guy from the short lesson she got from Sally, plus doing a president that wasn’t mainstream meant they wouldn’t have to worry about a repeat presentation. They’d have something unique AND cool. She wasn’t sure about how the president being a probably mutant played into the project, though; she had imagined writing about something in history wouldn’t rely on hypotheticals.

She looked between Sally and Peter when she asked their origin, and she chimed in after Peter gave his origin. “I’m from the great up North; Canada, to be precise” she said. “Nothing really that interestin’ from the area I lived in, but it was nice regardless.” The fact that she was speaking in past tense got to her a little bit- it was only a day and talking about home was making her… well, a little homesick. She mentally shook her head and got back to the topic at hand; it was best not to think about that kind of stuff.

“So, still a bit new. Are there textbooks in the class, or do we go down to the library to grab books for research?”
@pyroman Thought I should ask- in rp, what's the internet like right now? Is it a valid source for research, or would they be doing it using textbooks primarily? ;w;'''
If Maxi was stronger and able to, he would have thrown the idiot right the fuck out of the med bay for being such a prick. He did his best to keep his expression of calm about him, to give off the impression that Arex’s actions meant little to nothing to him, but it was clear after a point that Maxi was LIVID. He shot glares from behind his glasses, and was about to give the imbecile a piece of his mind when Stryker entered the room. Maxi’s intention of giving the guy a piece of his mind and storming out of there was crushed by an order- an unarguable order to fix Arex up. The look he gave Stryker from behind his glasses was one filled with venom. “Fine, BOSS.” he grumbled, not even trying to hide his spite towards the order. Fix the arrogant shithead, he’d fix the arrogant shitheads personality by leaving him to bleed out if he was allowed…

He took a breath to steady his thoughts, and turn to Arex. “Sit down.” He didn’t even look to see if Arex followed the order- he simply started to look for the supplies that he needed amongst the mess that Arex left behind, and set them down at his work station. He intentionally “forgot” to grab any sort of painkiller- he may have to do the procedure, but he wasn’t obligated to make it a pleasant experience. He looked briefly at the alien girl- it seemed her and Arex had some… personal, mind to mind business to attend to. The thought of someone reading his mind was a bit creepy, but he figured she wouldn’t do so out of the blue. She was asking Arex, after all. Maxi tapped a finger on his side, waiting for his… patient… to get seated.
It didn’t quite look like it was sinking in yet. Maxi was quiet as the newcomer and potato brain had a small back and forth- he had no idea what the hell this rite of merger was, but judging from the cold, dead glare potato brain was receiving it had nothing to do with what he was suggesting. It was a little bit amusing to watch, but unfortunately potato head wrapped him into the conversation again. Maxi nodded as he gave specifics to the repairs his arm needed- really wasn’t a problem for him to fix the organic part, though he would need help with the robotics. Though, there was one big problem that still remained.

He put a hand on his waist, looked at Arex, and said “Mhm, yeah, yeah, No. Screw you.” If this guy genuinely thought that he would get help from Maxi after being all around an imbecile and insulting the guy more or less to his face, he had another thing coming. “Looks to me that you know how to fix the problem yourself, though. Have fun with it.” he waved his hand in a dismissive gesture towards Arex, as if to wave him and anything he had to say aside, and went over to the cupboards. He thought at least to grab something for his own headache before going downstairs to the lab.

… oh. Well, that was the daily history lesson for her. Her eyes were wide by the end of the story, and she averted her gaze to the ground. That was heavy. She wasn’t quite sure what to say about it, and after a few seconds she mustered a simple “... Oh.” She knew of Magneto, the famous metal mutant, but she hadn’t known any stories about him. Much less any like that. “I.. that’s really bad to hear.” It took her a moment to muster up eye contact again. She wasn’t the most in touch with history in the states, so learning about the connection it had to her new school was a bit of a shocker.

She cleared her head of her surprise, focusing on the task at hand. She made eye contact with Peter, giving him another thumbs up. “Peter, nice name. I’ll be honest, I’m kind of hopeless with American history, which is… pretty obvious at this point. I can name some stuff about Europe and the French revolution, but not much else”. She looked at Sally- aka, the one that knew what was going on the most. “So, what president do you think would be the best for us, a group with only one skilled in the field person, to do?”. She’d read over the package she was given earlier to see if she missed any key presidents they could work on, but for now picking a dude and getting some info together seemed like the best bet.
SAL approached to take his bot, and for a split second he hesitated before turning the busted thing over to him. “Oh, uh, thank you”. He verified Graysons request to take his shot with a wave of his hand, not too concerned on if he did, before he stretched his arm and relaxed. It was a relief to hear the damage wasn’t that bad; if he had to replace the whole thing, it would be a nightmare. Everyone was dispersing to do their own thing, his bot was in repairs, and there was nothing for him to worry about. With that in mind, it was time to unpack his belongings properly and check out the ship's lab. Best to set up equipment when nothing was going on.

He popped into his room, unloaded and tidied up his clothes, and grabbed the equipment he was allowed to bring. The samples and materials he was allowed were somewhat pitiful- nothing organic, with only a few vials of medical chemicals and a handful of beakers, syringes, and petri dishes. Pathetic. He’d have to see if he could get some less shoddy supplies somehow, or if the medical bay had anything good for him to mess with. Maybe there was something for his headache. He set aside all of his equipment to be put back into his bag when his unloading was done- he could just pack it into his bag and carry it out. He sorted a few more items into drawers, took a moment to observe his cleaning, and gave himself a mental pat on the back.

Bag slung over his shoulder, he slipped out of his room and headed down to the ship's laboratory. It looked like someone else had already set up shop, but there were a few areas that were left untouched. They could share, if whoever the other lab user was minded their own business and didn’t touch his shit. He unloaded his bag of experimental equipments, lining up glass vials and dishes across the counter and putting the chemicals he was allowed to bring beside them. It wasn’t a fancy setup, but it was enough to run some experiments on what medical chemicals of his worked best for what species. He’d need to see who would be willing to actually have any tests run, though.

He checked the time- SAL should be finished with his bot by now. He double checked all his setup equipment, and left the lab. The armory was on the top floor, right? Next to the medical bay. He could check what stuff was in the med bay while grabbing his bot. He headed up to the crew deck, then the upper command deck. When he reached his destination, he was a little surprised to see that a small crowd had formed. Grayson was there, along with… Oh. Him. Potato brain. An injured looking potato brain. An injured looking potato brain that would most likely need his help.

He approached with a grin that let off a mildly devilish air just as SAL left the med bay. He poked his head into the room, and, upon seeing his bot, entered and powered it up. It floated back into the air as normal, beeping and processing its surroundings. Maxi gave it a pat on the top before leaving the room to thank SAL and confront his… ah, patient. He wasn’t going to make this easy. “Thanks a bunch for the repairs, SAL. Man, I was devastated that such an important piece of equipment was destroyed before the mission even started, and by an ally no less. What if something happened and I needed it on the spot? Gods, it was absolutely awful and infuriating. What a dumb thing to do on the attackers part”. He kept his tone casual and calm, though he knew very well the person that destroyed the bot was standing right next to him. He turned to Arex next, the venom in his grin refusing to fade. “Oh, hey there! Didn’t see you. It looks like you could use some help”.
Ack, I fell a little behind - I have two tests tomorrow, and a third Thursday. I'll work on a post right now ;_;
She opened the returned note, narrowing her eyes a bit in an attempt to decipher the chicken scratch provided. Her handwriting was somehow better than this mess. It took her a moment of focus, but she managed to make out the simple reply to her inquiry. He was fine, good enough for her. She offered the kid a thumbs up in recognition before moving to focus when the professor addressed the entire class. Hopefully she wasn’t caught in her note passing on her first day of school.

Instead of a potential lecture about passing notes, Bonny was met with a project about an early president of the United States. People were already gathering into their little groups of friends, and her, being new, was stuck with no one. She was half tempted to go ask the teacher if she’d have to do it later or alone, when someone sitting next to metal man gestured for her to come over. It looked like she had roped Peter into her group, and was inviting Bonny as well. She wasn’t about to turn down an invitation into a project group, so she got up and brought her chair so sit with the other two mutants.

The one who had gathered them all introduced herself as Sally, and Bonny could tell from a glance that she was pretty dead inside. More so than herself, which was mildly surprising. “Sup, Sally. I’m Bonny. Thanks in advance for the help. And if my powers had anything to do with the biographies of American Presidents, I’d be sure to let you know”. She paused a second before speaking again. “Just curious, but what about Kennedy wasn’t appropriate? What did people do? Aaaaaand also-” she turned her gaze from Sally to Metal man. “Never got your name.”
