Not so sure I agree with this facebook stuff anymore. I'd rather go back to pretending everyone on here wasn't... well, you know what I mean ;)

It's my Birthday. I am drunk, and will get worse as the night draws in. That's... that's all. Now all I need is an option to post all the messy photos :P

Bio

I like to write stories, and no genre is beyond me.

Short, sweet and to the point.

I didn't use a picture, but I pretty much tried to describe Laurence Fishburn from Apocalypse Now as Bobby D.

Yeah, text is fine. It's mostly about preference, as I know some people struggle if they can't use a picture, where as others hate the idea of using them what so ever.

Shoulda gone for Morpheus though.

"What if I told you... that there are Cong in those trees?"
I'll keep that prick as close to me as I can.

*chuckles like a little girl*
I just put mine up, I have a picture but it's saved on my home computer, of course. Let me know if anything needs to be changed or tweaked.

E: I also felt it a little strange to use a real picture so mine is an actor from a movie.

Accepted! But do look after that radio, wont you? Would be a shame if you dropped the handset in a puddle ;)

As for the pictures, you guys don't need to find a soldier to get the job done. We all know (hopefully) what the combat gear looked like (Something like this!); all we really need is an idea of what the guy himself looks like.
@HeySeuss

@Byrd Man

Both accepted, nice entries!

Howabout I put in an expendable character on the ground now, with the understanding that I play a Sandy or Bird Dog pilot down the line? :) Expendable character can be used as plot device, essentially, then I can transition over to the Air Force side of things.

That would work :)
I'll have my sheet done today for my radio operator. This looks really well put together & exciting. Did you want us to PM our characters to you for approval first, Tome?

Nope, chuck them straight into the character tab. I'll approve/disapprove them from there.

That goes for you too,@Mr_pink. :)

And we can thank @HeySeuss for the layout. He/she kindly made a template for everyone to use. I've used it for all my RPs, as it makes putting thoughts to paper so much easier.
I'm down for this.

I'm glad you re-read ;) You had me panicking thinking "HOW DID I LEAVE THAT OUT!? I SWORE I MENTIONED IT" *frantically rereads*

Though if anyone else has some questions on the locale, Binh Dinh is along the eastern coast of Vietnam. The 1st Cavalry Division moved there in 1967 to take part in Operation Pershing, which was basically a load of heli-raids against NVA and VC targets, from what I can gather. Although there was a heavy U.S presence in parts of the province, VC and NVA activity was rampant.

Edit: Ideally, I wanted the players to be on foot and all survivors of the crash - cut off from outside help.

Of course, the U.S will probably scramble a rescue mission as soon as the survivors make radio contact, but there is a large and undefined NVA/VC presence in the area, so their response may take time. Unless they go all heroic and launch a full scale attack, which is perfectly possible.

If you're happy to wait for the RP to get underway, I can include you as part of the rescue effort - although that wont be until the group have moved away from the crash site, and have radioed for help.

Heheh... ahhh, that's not actually very far from the truth. I'm an introvert with too much free time. Like most people here. Oh snap! :V

But seriously though, I haven't actually RP'd on this site for longer than I should, so I'm going to post it anyway. I assume you'd wait until after the current combat scenario is over before introducing them, though.

Also, I should warn you that I plan on doing work next week (ideally), so that may affect my ability to post then.

Accepted!

And yah, ideally I want to give the others a chance to forward things by themselves... although you of all people knows what happens if they don't :P

I'll keep you posted.
OOC is up.

I've been agonising over it for an hour, feeling I've left something out. Maybe I'm just being silly though.

In any case, we've got the green light. See you all over there.

58,220 American soldiers lost their lives fighting in the Vietnam War. Will your character be among them?

Instructions

  • Post your character sheet here using the template provided below.
  • Please do not post anything else here, all questions and comments should go to the OOC thread.

Character Sheet (Template Here)

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Rank:
Ethnicity/Nationality: Will allow for an ARVN translator.

Physical Description:
It's probably best to actually describe the character if you are going to rely on a picture, or you can do without the picture if you like, but definitely describe.

Skillset:
Talents one has either naturally or through education or training of some sort.

History:
Explain your character's background, from birth, to enlistment, to now. This will give me an understanding of who they are, which could mean everything if I drop a crisis down on their heads- or if I have to control them.

Equipment:
  • Weapon list here. Please make sure your choice makes sense, i.e the M1 Garand had been largely phased out by now, and members of the 1st Cavalry would be using M16 variants as their standard rifle.
