@Primal Oh, here's an idea. Make a drawing file on googledocs and then share it with everyone who submits an approved race. That way the map is accessible to everyone and it can be worked on in real time. As the owner of the file, you can kick anyone if they start making candy kingdoms and ponyvilles all over the place.
Love the write up and I'm definitely interested. Soooo many unanswered questions with regards to the Soul Cairn.

Two questions, what factions are available? Can PCs choose to be part of the Aldmeri Dominion or even be in service to the ideal masters? Also, are there still dragons and if so have they spread out of Skyrim? Are they pulling a Jurassic Park and breeding or are the dragons raised by Alduin the only ones who still exist?
Might I recommend a map, even a blank one. People are going to go their own merry way with every race and not design them with intertwined histories unless you force them to acknowledge the fact that their race does not exist in isolation. If they have to pick a spot on a map and say 'THERE That's where my not at all furry race lives' then they are forced to contend with the fact that some other player's race is adjacent and must therefore write them into the history and culture of their own race. Doing this would make the world feel more real and organic and less the result of a random collection of ideas.

I purposefully separated Margot from the group. Like, extremely separated. So, I don't think she'd sense anything in the state of focus she's in with her kata right now.

Meditation does not necessarily dampen the senses. Even if it does, an explosion of raw magic and a shockwave traveling through the fade is not the kind of 'disturbance' your character could have anticipated. It's like if a tightrope walker suddenly got hit by a gale force wind out of no where. Your concentration had no reason to be prepared for such an event.

Honestly you could easily write it either way. One way does nothing to develop the plot and does nothing to bring the group together. The other does. To get the group together you always need to compromise a bit and try to make choices that connect the characters. It's just the nature of early game.
@automaton So there's something I'm missing, probably my fault, what does NHS stand for? Also you don't need to wrestle with the 3rd person limited to make it be 3rd person omniscient. Just write what happens and your character's personality and feelings will gradually become clear without effort. Interact with other players and they will ask your character questions and you will be able to explain what you feel without having to constantly imply it.

@all The mage who is not riddled with taint may have sensed the radiation of magic emanating from the golem. I'll give you a chance to respond to it before I throw NPC mages or templar in his direction because it would be a good opportunity to start binding together PCs into something resembling a coherent group.

Posted. Also, are we going to do the original attack of dark spawn because if not I had an idea, they could come up from the ground as a surprise attack.

I wouldn't discuss that kind of thing with the players unless I wanted to destroy all suspense. All I can tell you is what your character knows from overhearing scouts at the camp. The Horde is growing and it is closing.

Also know that when you give me a suggestion, I automatically can't do it. The PCs are now expecting this twist so it looses all purpose.
Primal Conundrum said a lot of people RP that stuff quite poorly.

Yep.

That's the biggest problem with allowing total player creativity. It's an open door to shoehorners who want to play the same thing regardless of setting whether that be vampire, werewolf, pokemon or gelatinous cube. Depriving them of the vampire/werewolf option by submitting both as an unplayable monster race is an admittedly devious preemptive strike on my part.
How about the following for a monster race, not necessarily for players. More like a BBEG.

Noktwar- Night Lords

The Noktwar are the basis of all myths regarding vampires and werewolves, but their true nature is known only to a few learned arcanists and travelers. They are immaterial beings, demons, who draw power from darkness but are damaged, even destroyed, by sunlight. In their natural form they are a sentient vapor, a dark mist that travels quickly across the land and sky. However, they rarely take this form relying instead on their consummate shapeshifting abilities. They can assume the physical form of any creature active at night though they prefer predators such as wolves, owls, bats, and panthers. In order to take human form, however, they must possess a host and only those who have committed the gravest of crimes are susceptible to their invasion. Robbers and murderers who haunt the shadows of cities are an easy target, but the Noktwar prefer bloody tyrants for they then can draw on the political power of such people to serve their own ends.

While inside a human host, the Noktwar is still vulnerable to sunlight, but less for flesh shields his spirit. Light weakens such a Night Lord, but can not destroy him. When in human form and not crippled by the sun, he can still shapeshift but he must warp the flesh of his human form to do so, resulting in monstrous beast hybrids which have given rise to the myths of lycanthropy. Unfortunately for the Noktwar it can only mimic, not create life so to survive in their host without it degenerating it must feed on the lifeblood of human beings. Typically the beast achieves this by altering the physiology of their host to attain the blood letting saliva and fangs of a vampire bat, though some more crude predators will merely devour their prey with mouths full of gnashing teeth.

A Noktwar is powerful, ruthless and cunning. It's human host is empowered by the spirit's demonic strength, quickened by its energy and illuminated by it's immortal and cunning intellect. Still the beasts can be destroyed. A beheading or burning can stop the demon and force him to flee his vessel but only sunlight can destroy him utterly which is why those few who hunt the Noktwar only pursue their quarry at daytime and why the Noktwar seek refuge underground, often in mausoleums, during this time. Their taking refuge in such places, along with the immortality of their host bodies, have given rise to the false belief that they are the risen dead. In reality, much of the psychology and evil of the host remains alive in the demon hybrid created upon his possession and the heart within his chest, though corrupted, continues its beat.

As a bonus if you accept this it effectively cockblocks all lame and overdone vampire werewolf stuff from polluting the RP. And you'll never have to see someone use the word Lycan as if they think every game with such monsters is set in the Underworld universe.
@rpg101 Nice post. I liked how you took the scene and put it in your character's perspective. That's a useful trick and something I often forget to do.

@All Remember that if you're struggling for things to fit into your post without introspection that I DO NOT enforce post size limits so there is never any need to struggle. When you have nothing more to describe... stop. Often one paragraph posts are perfectly suitable. I don't have anything against long posts in particular, but I don't require them.

I will have an encounter with the Queen and Loghain soon enough, but I kind of want Joras and his ward to split off before then so those two scenes happen concurrently rather than sequentially. That should speed things up.
@rpg101 Heads up, post directed at your character

@Wired I like your little subplot there. I'll sometimes intercede in these and pick up an NPC, but not always. Sometimes it'll just be up to you. This is one of those occasions due to how much is going on.

Alright, my first post is finally up! How'd I do, GM? I tried my hardest to included nothing but observable facts, as I believe that's the gist of what were trying to do. :B

Yeah it looks good. Remember I don't mind if you write from a perspective (like a dwarf's posts which obsessed over the vastness of the sky because he's lived underground his whole life). Just no verbatim thoughts or explicit feelings.
