Announcement!

Hi all! So I've finally gotten around to making the new thread, and it's, well, a work in progress!

In the next few days, I'll be working on finalizing all information and editing the post layouts provided by Balthazar, and many of those posts will contain tags to all of you (but I'll keep them out of your notifications with the edit system ;) ), but here's the link to the thread anyway:

http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/161849-pokemon-new-world/ic#post-4252465

The thread, however, is not complete yet, and I'm working on figuring out the final layout of the site, so please don't post anything yet! When the time comes, I'll be making another tag announcement like this and providing instructions as to how everyone can move their posts over (location + character), but not yet!

Hope this is as exciting for you as it is for me, and fingers crossed in hopes that the "closed" marker on the thread is enough to ward off posters xD

Pokemon: New World

Hey there, stranger!

Welcome to the humble home of Pokemon: New World! Here, both users and their characters start small and work their way up, exploring and contributing to our IC world as they do. We aim to be an active, friendly community that focuses on creating and delivering content as well as interacting with each other OOC and IC, and we’d be happy to have you as well!

As a writer, you begin with a single character: a trainer starting on their first journey. Whatever their background, whatever their story, they’ve yet to officially own a Pokemon but are about to. With just a Pokeball and a Pokedex in hand, they will venture forth, catching their first Pokemon and starting their journey as a Pokemon trainer. Along their way they will meet many Pokemon and trainers, travel through many intriguing and mysterious locations with individual charm. Their story is their own, able to be crafted, molded, and directed however you see fit. You can find all the information you need to get started below in the hiders, so don’t be intimidated!

Our community is one of the writers and content creators, and we pitch creativity and friendliness. So be nice, be open, and be sensible, and you’ll fit right in!

Hope to see you soon!

The Manual:

These are the official guidelines of our RP. If any content within this manual changes significantly, I will make an OOC 'update' post to alert our user base. Be sure to check back with this manual if you have any questions, but if your questions remain, feel free to voice them OOC and tag me!

User-Created Content:

This RP runs primarily on content created by users. No matter what kind of content you would like to create, you will need one thing, Creation Points (CP). One CP is earned each time you post within a "New World Location". You will notice that a post count is kept for you automatically and displayed under your avatar beside each of your posts. This post count, minus CP spent, plus any bonus CP, will equal your total CP at any given time. There are 5 types of user content: characters, locations, organizations, items, and missions.

How to Get Started:

If you’re a new face around here and are looking to join New World, here’s everything you need to know about making your first character and starting them on their way:

Miscellaneous Final Words:

This thread is a reestablishment of our former thread located here since @Balthazar007 has handed the official GM responsibilities to me. We’re in the early process of making the hop to this thread, so IC posts might look like they’re continuing from some unseen (but not unlinked) thread. Feel free to check out past posts out, because they’ll be sitting there collecting dust.

Also, just in case the label on the thread didn’t make it clear, we’re always open, always looking, and whatever other “always” that comes with “always posting.” I’m here because I love Pokemon (and am not in the least ashamed to admit it), and I’m guessing you are too, so get out there and post! OOC or IC, it doesn’t matter. Be creative, be sensible, be reasonable, and have fun out there!

"Let's go," Kenza said, joining Derrick by the door. Opening it, she looked around the hallway and made sure it was still empty before heading out. "The light was in this direction, right Mistletoe?"

"Yep," Mistletoe said in confirmation, walking over to the door. Kenza nodded, leading the way down the corridor quickly but carefully as to not break the silence.

Leisy Takigawa
— Feyhollow —

“Congrats on the Budew!” Leisy said, grinning at Florence. “This makes a grand total of two, right? Both grass types too — I wouldn’t be surprised if they turned out to be best friends.”

Pursing her lips briefly in thought, Leisy nodded. “Sounds like a good idea,” she said to Florence. “Cutiefly seem rather timid overall, and they’d be pretty agitated after getting chased around by unknown humans. Seeing another of their kind might tell them that we’re friendly.”

When Ella sent out Jumbles, Leisy watched in interest as the psychic-type swivelled around in its place, seemingly looking at nothing. I guess that — being psychic — it can probably detect some interesting things, she thought as the white-capped Pokemon’s tentacles drifted around in midair like ribbons in water. As much as I’d like one, they seem rather hard to train…

“Find anything?” she asked quietly, not wanting to interrupt the Inkay but also not content with just standing idly.

Shanae Eller
— Ironforge —

Gritting his teeth, Marvin called his Drilbur back, not pleased to have been forced out of the battle but acknowledging the futility of throwing his Pokemon against a clearly superior wild. “Be careful! It’s pretty strong!” he called to the other trainer. Shanae nodded, grinning.

“You got it, Marvin. Endy, Oti, we start off with some water-type attacks!” Shanae called to her Pokemon. The Lapras and Lombre made eye contact with each other, immediately deciding to form a temporary truce-alliance against the feral ground-type.

The Sandslash — unimpressed with its previous opponents — stepped up to the challenge with a haughty flourish of its claws, only to be rebuffed by a combined stream of Water Gun supported by Bubble. The water seeped through the spaces in its stone armor, wetting and softening them so that they dragged the ground-type down rather than helping it stay up. Realizing that the situation was dire, it launched into a Rapid Spin, shaking off water and deflecting incoming liquid all at once as it flung itself towards the smaller of its two opponents: the Lombre.

“Endy, knock it off its course!” Shanae shouted to her Lapras. The ice-type nodded, launching a powerful blast of water at the spinning Pokemon — a Water Pulse. More winded than hurt by the impact of water in midair, the ground-type wild landed on the floor with three limbs, supporting itself with an extra arm as it shook its head to clear the fuzz.

Taking this chance, Shanae figured that it might be best to end this battle now. “Why don’t we try that Bubblebeam of yours, Oti?” she asked. The grass-type understood his trainer’s question, stepping forwards and opening his mouth to let loose a strong stream of bubbles that collided against the wild Sandslash with sharp, loud pops. With a cry, the Sandslash turned and leaped into the air, diving down in a Dig. Silence followed, and Shanae figured that the wild had indeed made its getaway.

“Good job, you two,” Shanae said, grinning as she ran over and patted her two Pokemon — her Lombre by leaning down and patting his back, and her Lapras by stretching up to reach the back of the neck rather than his shell. “Get some rest — I might need your help again later.”

With that, she returned her Pokemon and walked over to Marvin, who had found a worm map of sorts in a display cabinet on the wall. “Anything interesting?” she asked, looking at the map as well. Most of the coloring had faded into lighter shades, but the words were still legible.

“Not really,” Marvin said, frowning. “The basement is actually rather small, but that’s not suprising considering that this factory’s from way back when. It’s quite tall though, although I doubt that anything’s living up there,” he said, pointing his flashlight up without bothering to cover the beam. He froze, as did Shanae.

A pair of round eyes stared down at them from behind the edge of a balcony, unblinking as two small jets of flame burned right above them. Judging by the reddish fur and the size of the flames, the Pokemon was by no means small — fitting the bill of the wanted smelter.

@Prints Avoid Ahhh I'm so sorry I didn't notice your post sooner!

As for your question, sadly no one has joined "well" recently. Not many people have joined since a few months ago, and those who joined usually made a character, posted a post or two, and disappeared. If you can be an active poster, or even just a poster who sticks with it and doesn't disappear, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to "get into it." Size and history, although "scary," is negligible -- you don't have to read a single bit. At all. No info needed other than the rules covered in our opening post OOC. Throw any and all questions at me OOC or over PM, and I'll get back to you asap, or maybe one of our friendly users will beat me to the punchline xD

The RP is mainly user-run and self-driven, although most of our members have ended up forming duos or trios when posting since individual posting gets boring. It is, however, completely possible; I myself have a "solo-posting" trainer/character, although I will admit that it's hard finding willpower to post for her frequently (more lack of enthusiasm on my part than difficulty posting). If you're concerned about having to post alone, I will say that I'm planning on rolling out a new trainer sometime soon. If you want, my new trainer can "tag along" with yours, unless one of the other existing "groups" interests you.

If you're looking to join one of the existing duos/trios of users/posters active right now, you will have to brush up on a little information (since most of them are involved in something or another, or are in-transit to some new location), but all the "brushing up" it'd take would be a brief explanation from one of the members of the group. Tagging along in a group would require you to be more "active," and our current members usually post every 1-3 days or so (I do, at least). But, if life gets in the way (or anything, really), just tag us in the OOC and tell us, and we'll figure it out. Plus, posting has slowed down some as of late, so you'd be able to scrape by with a post every week (although I'll be sad if you're in my group and won't respond to me until next week ;) )

Really, I don't see why someone couldn't hop in and start posting. It might take some getting used to, yes, and you might trip up a few times (I did), but I'd be happy to help, and so would our users. Our group is currently getting rather small, and I think the prospect of a new member would be more exciting than anything. So, just be an active member and poster, and you'll fit right in!

Well, hope that long drabble helped you figure out whether this RP is right for you (and convince you to join!!). We'd be happy to have you, so head on over if you'd like and start chatting in OOC! It's currently rather devoid of actual conversations, but I'm sure someone would be willing to chat :)
Kenza was equally unimpressed with the boxed ring, not bothering to offer a comment. Mistletoe, on the other hand, had picked up on how oddly Derrick was behaving around the small but valuable piece of jewelry. Where Mistletoe was fascinated and excited, Derrick seemed almost nervous -- uneasy. Kenza was clearly uninterested in the new discoveries, but Derrick didn't seem to share the other hunter's apathy.

"I wonder who left this here, and why," Mistletoe said, attempting to rouse some conversation in the silence.

"Maybe they used to live here or something," Kenza said, shrugging. "Does it matter? It was left here, and they're most likely gone."

"I guess not," Mistletoe said, seeing the other hunter's point. Although this was a bad time, she was intrigued by the possibility of mystery. Still, Mistletoe knew restraint and control, and she saw the sense in Kenza's argument.

Hearing Derrick's request, Mistletoe turned and nodded, taking the jeweled box. "Sure. It'll be safe with me," she said, tucking the box into one of the pockets on her clothes. Hunting solo meant being prepared to face anything and everything alone, and doing so wasn't possible if one didn't carry some extra supplies. Thus, Mistletoe had an abundance of small- and medium-sized pockets scattered on her outfit, Some just holding some cloth or balm whereas others held some loose pieces of coin or gold in case they were needed. "So, where to next?"

“If they were chased, I wouldn’t be surprised if they split up,” Leisy said, frowning. “Although the park does sound worth checking out again — just in case there’s another Cutiefly hiding there, or if there are some clues. If the Cutiefly was chased there, maybe its pursuant accidentally left something behind?”

When the trio of trainers got up to leave, however, a pastel fluttering caught their attention.

“Is that… a Cutiefly?” Leisy asked, brows knitting. Surely they couldn’t be so lucky as to find another lost Pokemon so easily?

Unsurprisingly, the fairy-type turned out to be but a wild, but Florence also gained a sort of little antifan in the process. The Budew following the other trainer did, as Florence pointed out, have some funky coloring, but Leisy thought the undershirt-like feature charming. Naunet, on the other hand, didn’t like that the Budew was taking over the spotlight but dealt with her angst with silence and broody glares.

“It’s an eye-catching little bit,” Leisy said to Florence, casting an amused glance back at the grass-type currently trailing the brown-haired trainer quite intensely. “The purple, i mean. You considered catching the little guy? He seems to like you enough, although he has a funny way of expressing it.”

The three trainers arrived at the Feyhollow park without problem, picking up some food from street side vendors along the way. Leisy helped herself to a pretzel shaped like a Igglybuff, feeling a little guilty for taking bites out of something so adorably shaped.

“So where do we look first?” she asked, tossing the napkin from her pretzel. Early brunch-slash-snack now done with, Leisy was ready for some action.

Cillian Weiss
— Zephyr Strip —

“Huh. Never seen a Stufful before, so you’ll have to let it out for me to see sometime,” Cillian said.

Spotting Tora, Cillian immediately grinned and waved, stopping when he saw how tired she seemed. “You alright?” he asked, concerned for his friend. “Yeah, get some sleep on the train. It’ll be a hour or so at least, and you can be some food if you need. Maybe some water?”

Boarding the train, Cillian took a seat across from Juana and Tora, taking his camera out from his bag. “I’ll be here, weeding through pictures,” he said to the girls as his Bulbasaur took a seat beside him.
