Midway City…Madness had once again returned to the streets as snake-people attacked left and right.
Having her feet solidly planted in a station wagon Knight greeted the first cult member with an elbow to the sternum that send him backwards into the hood.
“Here’s a tip, don’t let your opponent dictate the fight, it’s gonna – Oh, shit he's not out!” she exclaimed just in time to dodge his jump back up. Knight kept her footwork going and grabbed the incoming claw.
His other claw immediately struck the armor on her right arm. Not a single scratch was visible, only a long green trail of venom.
“Don’t let them cut you!” Knight yelled to her team, while folding and ultimately breaking her opponent’s arm through a series of moves. Before she could put down the snake-man for good, another launched at her. With a back-flip she got herself down from the vehicle and brought the reinforced part of her arm to their ankles.
The success of her escape was brief, as another cult member grabbed her and began a wrestling contest. With something slightly above human strength, he pulled her backwards and revealed the only two teeth he had in his mouth. Clearly the work of a dentist and not nature itself, yet the fangs did seem smeared in the same kind of poisonous green stuff. In a haunting hiss his head came forward and then drew back again like a whip, when the bite missed. Then came another attempt, before Knight separated one hand from the struggle, broke off the side view mirror and stuffed it into his incoming mouth. The creature paused before she broke the mirror by slamming an uppercut into his jaw, spreading glass everywhere.
Knight took a second to catch her breath and admire Polymer’s handiwork on the cult. Mystical constructs of magic also did a real number on a few of the opponents, and she knew she had Dr. Fate to thank for that.
Fate is at my side, huh? Yeah, alright.A snake-man made the mistake of charging head first into a flying kick of hers and was immediately thrown to the ground where he stayed.
Standing in the middle of the brawl, Knight allowed a beam of hope to shine down on her. Though this was no picnic, the Justice League was fighting back the invaders with resourceful efficiently. If they kept this up they would-
As if someone had pushed the fast-forward button on a rattlesnake, Aliff interrupted her confidence with a strike from the tip of his fingers. The attack went strait into the hardened fabric on her chest with enough force to send her backwards into the concrete.
She clutched her upper body and let out a painful moan.
Above her an inpatient Aliff moved around. Raised his hands like he was an Egyptian dancer in the year 500 BC and kept crouching, standing and bending.
“What are you … oh right, you are doing that Martial Arts snake fighting style. Why did I expect anything else?” she joked.
“Silence! I will destroy you in the blink of an eye!”“Speaking of which. How come your eyelids aren’t transparent?” Hardly did Knight get time to finish her sentence, before his claws came down at her. Only just did she manage to roll out of the way and kick his wrist into a painful angle. She used his limb as leverage and jumped back on her feet.
“You fool,” he sneered, waving his long fork-tongue with each word.
“I got you before. Your armor almost held, but I penetrated it with just the tip.”“No, you didn’t. Knight lied, trying to keep her casual exterior.
“I felt it: My clawsss against your bare ssskin. And even if it was only a small amount, the venom will enter your system. The more you fight, the sooner it paralyzes you. Sssso … what are you going to do now, little hero?”In that moment it felt like the whole city had gone quiet. Nothing else around them mattered. Knight stared at Aliff and he stared back. Then she raised her arms, tightened her fists and charged him.
There’s your answer, creep!
