Hello out there! I'm a long time roleplayer who is new to posting on forums. Generally I've kept to AIM but with the AO-roleplay world in its death throes I am expanding my search out somewhat. I'd like to work in IM or email (preferably the former) if possible, but I know that's against the rules in some forums so I'm posting at my own risk and just hoping it doesn't backfire. Here's the short story on me: I am female, of age, and skilled. I don't stick to any one genre or type of character, but I do tend to lean hard away from what I'd consider kiddie stuff (anime, medieval fantasy, canon). I prefer original play with an inventive partner who is interested in crafting something long term. During the day, I stick to gmail (there's an IM chat feature there too) during the day but I'm generally available on AIM in the evenings/weekends. I keep my user IDs in forums, gmail and aol all the same - walkwithdevils - so I'm always easy to find. Shoot me an email if you are interested and I will return it quickly. Here are a few guidelines for play that I like to stick to (lifted from an old AOL page of mine, so don't judge me): •Detailed quantity and quality are a must. If you can handle this, you won't sweat this requirement and don't need to be reminded which “your” (or “you're”) to use. If you can't, please do not IM me to tell me you'll “try” to keep up. Worse, don't ask me to mill through a long introductory post just to ditch because you finally realize you can't keep up. I am choosy and I do demand a lot, but I've never had trouble finding other players on the same level. I absolutely do not need to lower my standards for anyone. •So how much detail is detail? No, I'm not going to ramble nonsensically about non-pertinent information just to fill space, but I do tend to like to incorporate some reaction to your last post as well as description on my character's current position and then a motion to move the story forward. For me, that hovers around 2-5 paragraphs of material per post. If I'm inspired and my partner matches me, I can go much longer. I rarely go shorter, or even sit at the low end of that range for anything but faster paced dialogue scenes. •Slice of Life style stories are rarely for me. Though I don't require fantasy scenarios to keep me interested, I don't want to descend into the completely mundane either. What about realistic scenarios that have some drama and adventure (think: action flick or thriller)? Or a fantasy story that isn't heavy handed where the supernatural can be played to reactions of genuine fear, surprise and – dare I say – fun? •I like working with a partner and crafting a story from the ground up that really satisfies what we both are after. As such, I have no present characters. I am worth it without the eye candy, but I prefer putting my efforts in with someone who is enthusiastic about doing the same. •You might ask, why should you put in that much effort for RP? Well, if it isn't what you find enjoyable – you shouldn't. If what tickles your fancy is keeping to a single paragraph of something fast and smutty you are certain to find no shortage of potential partners. Have at it and happy hunting. (Side note - rude assholes who start conversations with hostility or complaints don't get under my skin. They get put on block.) If instead you want something really inventive and well thought out, something which keeps us both on the edge of our seats in anticipation of the next scene, and most of all something we can build on for the long term – I'm your girl.
