Auriel was about to turn both of the heroes down for dancing. It wasn't that she didn't want to. It was more to do with the fact that her wings made dancing in a crowded environment clunky. Though that was the easy excuse, deeper down in Auriel, she was simply embarrassed since she wasn't practiced at dancing. She was also worried that she'd make a fool of herself and a fool of her dance partner because of it. Thankfully, Auriel didn't need to answer as the door burst open, stealing everyone's attention away from the festivities. Including Auriel's.

She wasn't expecting to see the bow hero or her party show up. Auriel had recalled the last time she had met the bow hero. She was abrasive, rude, and very very loud. Auriel didn't like the girl, but her oath to servitude under the four heroes forced her to be indifferent. They were her destiny. She had to respect them even if she really couldn't. Auriel outstretched an arm when Cole moved in to attack, only to see that the bow hero's party was very quick to intercept all of the attacks that came at them with clever use of magic. Things began getting out of hand...

Auriel's golden eyes jumped between the two heroes, then to Rivia, then to the bow hero. This was going to devolve into a brawl where no one would come out it with anything good. She clenched her jaw and stepped out into the middle of the dance floor which was still relatively clear. She needed to stop this. Regardless of whichever hero would end up wounded in this altercation, allowing any single one of them to reach that point would mean that Auriel was failing at her job. And she refused to let that bastard Bander be made right. She didn't need to look at him to see the grin on his face. She could feel his eyes burning into her back. Auriel took a deep breath and outstretched her wings to full span. She channeled some mana as well, letting it flare out in golden light from her body. Auriel yelled out to interrupt them from their squabbling, "THAT'S ENOUGH!"

She gripped her spear tight and landed the butt end of it on the marble floor. Auriel stood tall and strong, removing any courtly elegance from her posture and replacing it with pride and strength. She looked between the three heroes, but her gaze was mostly on Rin. "Hero or not, this is not a way to conduct yourselves in a royal court!" Auriel stood her ground, "Who are you to criticize Fer and Cole, Rin Matsunaga? How many waves have you defended the world against? None. The waves are all that matters in the grand scheme of things. That is the ultimate purpose of the legendary heroes. As you have so clearly pointed out, the Dragon Hourglass is still measuring time. And there isn't much longer before the last grain falls and the skies turn red and fire rains on all the lands. Where then? Where is the sense in fighting now of all times? Why risk injury at such a crucial juncture?"

Auriel looked to Cole and Fer, "These sorts of galas are most important when held on the brink of cataclysm. It is an opportunity to relax and find peace before chaos. To forge fond memories to cherish and strength relationships worth fighting for. It is good for the soul, so no warrior ever becomes rotted from the inside out and cynical as you have so obviously become. You might have the prowess over the other heroes, but when our darkest hour comes, it will be the heroes who have learned to love this world that save it. Not the ones who see this simply as some chore they got pulled from their world to do."

Auriel's wings came back in, and the radiant golden light began to fade away. The winged warrior sighed, and turned toward the king. She did a curtsy in her dress and bowed her head, "Your majesty. I think it would be wise to allot a room for these three heroes so they can set aside their differences and find common ground."
Sorry I've been silent this past while. Things at work have gotten very stressful with the crisis in Ukraine right now.
I can do something later tonight!
I think it'd be cool to either leave it open for plot purposes or invite a new player ^.^

I had thoughts about Auriel somehow taking up the mantle of spear hero through as of yet undecided means. But it'd be fun and a natural fit since she is already very skilled with a spear. Definitely would need time before that'd happen, not like it'd just be a post any time soon like "Oh yeah look what I can do!"
So we getting a bow Player? cool. No spear takers? Shame. Looking forward to meeting them and looking forwrd to the Waves...may the odds be forever in our favor.

The Spear Hero at the moment is a player character who of a player who left a while back. But that character was a replacement to a different spear hero who had been found dead so for the sake of not bringing in a third replacement, it's just easier to say the spear is off in the world somewhere doing hero things.
I'll post soon to set things up a bit.

On a side note, when are we thinking of taking on the first wave? I would imagine that's our next arc after the gala.

On the Eve of Leave

(Mood Music)

Aurelia stood outside of the door to the officer's lounge, staring at the steel bulkhead and weighing her options. She took a deep breath through her nose, pursed her lips, and let it out in a long sigh. There weren't any other options. She didn't want to break it to the pilots but she needed them if she was going to continue her mission. A mission that could change everything for every soldier on the front line, UEE or Coalition. With another huff, Aurelia held her hand over the door's control panel. The panel chimed and lit green, accepting her authorization to be in the room. Not that any room was really off limits to her. The door opened and she was glad that it was empty. She didn't have to deal with any awkward entrances.

Aurelia stood behind and to the side of Ingram as he delivered the grim news. Her lips were pencil thin as the news was received about exactly as she had predicted it was going to be. She could never relate to having her leave taken away since all she ever had to do to take a break was wave her hand. But she could understand the frustration of having plans dashed. As Ingram briefed the pilots of the Direwolves on their next mission, Aurelia paid attention to the extra details. The plan was risky, as things always were with covert operations. But it was vital things went off without a hitch here.

Then he ordered the ship VI to stop observing the room and lock the door. The real talk had come. Ingram explained the possibility of an insider- no... The reality. The movements of a royal were on the same tier of security as the UEE's weapons of mass destruction. Which meant to Aurelia that whoever was leaking her movements to the Coalition was very high up in the command structure. Then the far worse possibility came to the forefront of Aurelia's mind.

When there was a moment to speak, Aurelia stepped forward and looked around to all of the pilots. "It was always my intention to meet Coalition delegates in neutral space. My plan was to make those movements happen after I had control of the 5th Fleet and after every serviceman in the fleet had gotten their much deserved rest. Evidently the assault on Cerol and attempt on my life has forced me to change the order of my plans. But since my arrival at Cerol was top secret, there's only so many people who would know I was there..." Aurelia paused to take a breath, just enough time for Abigail to speak her very candid mind. "My family holds the throne because our dynasty has kept the Empire afloat in this war. Their success in leading the Empire through these dark times has earned them legitimacy and no small amount of public favor. Which means... There are some in my family that would see this war be perpetuated out of fear that our dynasty would become weaker for it. It's no secret that I have a distaste for this conflict, and that hasn't earned me any favor at my family's dinner table from my elder siblings. My father is getting old, and he is the only one who ever supported my endeavors for peace. Once he hears about what I am doing in the FEZ, he will get over the inherent risks."

Her eyes moved around, watching to see if what she was implying had been picked up. "I need to keep my focus outward from the Empire, on the enemy pushing into our territory and occupying our worlds. Which is why I can't simply take this ship, and you all, to your homes. I have good reason to assume that if this ship did the predictable thing, we'd find ourselves in the face of another Coalition ambush, and another, and another after that. We need to keep a low profile, and I need to reach people who are loyal to me to get in contact with the Coalition delegates I have cultivated good standing with. If we can accelerate the peace talks with only the parties that truly matter, even if it only sows the seeds for peace, then I can look inward towards our homes. But until then, in order to mitigate the risk of another attack, our movements and actions in the coming weeks need to be discreet."
Still waiting on Rivia, yeah?
Cole hasn't done any dancing so far though. He's asked Rivia to dance and pointed out all the other people dancing to show Rivia how people dance in human society.

Oh! I misunderstood the scene lol
Auriel entered, saw Cole and Rivia dancing, approached Fer while the other two danced
