Kate & Nixon, collab with TheDoctor
Completely oblivious of Nixon’s desperation for blood Kate kneel to pick up a dead leaf off of the forest floor and begun heading for town, with a short delay to make sure he was following. “Yes...food is awesome.” She mumbled, her eyes fixated on the mysterious town in awe. Without a warning, her footsteps tread through the uncharted, tall-grass area right before the town. “Are you coming? If others are coming, it is the least we can do to be able to tell them what they're heading into….and to get the best place.” She added on with a smirk, pinning a few stray blonde wisps back to her head with a pin.
Nixon stumbled behind Kate as she started walking. “Of course I’m coming, random village finally came back and it’s been gone for a whole year without sending me a postcard!” He breathed heavily, trying to stand up straighter as he followed her into the village. Steady, he thought. Don’t go out when you finally found it. “Who’re you betting on seeing first?”
“Who?” Kate pondered this question with a playful smile, letting the chilled winds whisk away the leaf from her fingers- the remains blowing back and smacking Nixon in the face. “I think the better question is who would i rather not see. I mean, really, what if some man-eating tree is there, slumbering and awaiting to be woken by us stepping into the town’s boundaries.” She shook her head, laughing at herself. It sound a lot more intelligent before she said the words. “I think you being who i spend majority of my time is starting to rub off. We need someone to maintain the sanity here, but I have you to thank for maintaining mine in the earlier years.” Memories of the hotel creep up onto her yet again, like a wolf in the forest following it’s next prey for hours until the time was just right to strike. Yes, this thought became so surreal...Kate’s steps frozen, her laughing no more. Put it behind yourself, Kate! pull it together, this is something you've fought for. The air around her felt heavy, it’s invisible hand making it feel like something- an unknown presence was pulling her into the ground. The sky above her blackened, and swirled. She couldn't breathe. Kate! She blinked once, doubling over, breaths running in and out of her lips, all of what she saw and felt subsided. She looked at Nixon and smiled weakly over her shoulder as they stepped into the town, knowing he’d see the first episodes of many she cured herself without trying to murder the vampire. “Well, who do you think we will see?”
Nixon grinned. “Oh come on, I bet it was just a misunderstanding on making the town invisible without telling us and not letting us in. Besides, man-eating trees don’t exist, they went extinct years ago!” He laughed along with Kate until she suddenly stopped. Nixon looked curiously at her, wondering what was wrong. Her change in her breaths made him frown with concern, and he didn’t lose it when she smiled over at him. “Uh...Anthony, or whoever else took charge. Someone had to lead these people this entire year,” he said timidly. “Kate, are you alright?”
“Y-yeah, I’m okay!” She reassured him, forcing a smile on her lips. There was a moment in time where all, even the wind, was still, and she gazed at the vampire with that now faltering smile. He could see it, and she knew it. With a shake of her head, she ripped away from him and sprinted for the town. “I’ll beat you there!” She said joyously, although there was a frown that stayed there, haunting her like the hotel will, forever.
Kaori
Delilah
Delilah watched her father leave through the dining room’s fancy, tall doors. Such a familiar, saddening site- She waved at his back as he briskly left. Not in a enthusiastic, “bye, see you later” fashion, but a , “Bye, I hope you come back” wave.
All was not lost to the little girl, Issac was there to take his place- all that was left was her question of the whereabouts of her mother- left to vanish as the little girl had held her tongue in a hopeless silence. Holding her tongue- was another value she’d gotten from her real parents, but the only value she still had that could be seen as an hindrance around the castle was her failure to drink blood.
When she had no one to accompany her, she’d always find something to do…..playing the grand piano, talking with her dolls, or even just scraping the edges of the castle forest in full kitsune form when she was sure no one was around to police her. In human years, she was considered five, but due to her supernatural bloods, she was growing at an alarming rate with the mind of a seven year old. As she was seated, her kitsune tail brushed against the well-polished wooden legs of her chain, swiveling her tail around them.
“Um….Issac, would you like to go out and do something? Don’t tell daddy please, he might get mad but I really like going into the forest. From my bedroom window, I think I can hear a river. In books, it tells me that some throw rocks at the water, and it skips. I’ve been in there, but I can’t bring myself to loose view of the castle. ” As she spoke, she looked out the windows dreamily, her purple eyes barely blinking, like she didn’t want to miss one moment of it. “ I really like the forest because it’s the last place I saw my mom. So? What do you think? Would you like to go with me?”
