I came out of lurking because I heard there were lesbians.
I swing into this site periodically to see if anything can really stand out grab my attention. You, good sir, have my undivided attention as far as RPs go.
I'd be all sorts of down for an LoZ-inspired setting. Pokemon RPs are also fun, but I see you also have good old-fashioned fantasy listed, which is where I truly shine. I'm mostly just a lurker here, but you've got my attention Ze-I mean, Ganondorf.
The yuri gods have heard your prayer, and sent me. Zombie RPs are something I haven't seen in ages, so it would be fun to put my hands into one of those again after so long. Similarly, it's been a while since I've done 1x1 stuff, and I could use a reason to poke my head into this site more than once or twice a week. Everything said and done, I'd be happy to work with you on that There Be Zombies idea of yours.
The yuri gods have heard your plea and sent me to check this thread out. I could totally go for something laid-back like what you're proposing here. I'd also be happy to either get into that Candy Candy idea of yours or work together with you to figure something new out. I should probably warn you ahead of time that I can get kinda flaky on this particular forum (idk why either), so we might want to work out some alternate means of contacting me if I should randomly disappear off the face of the earth ^_^;
As the pair stepped into the store, Tomoko was met with a question.
"So, what do you do when you're not busy making all the leader boards say 'Tomoko-sama?' Are you a student or do you work?"
"I'm a student, but I've been considering becoming a pro gamer as well. Seems like easy money." Once in the store, Tomoko made her way to the snack aisle. Convenience stores were a bit of a pain sometimes since they always seemed to move their items around, but more often than not, the stuff Tomoko wanted was in here...somewhere. Most of the time. However, it seemed this time wasn't the case. They'd moved the mints, the bastards. Now Tomoko had to figure out where those had gone. Luckily, it didn't take long to find them; they were by the counter now.
Tomoko got in line behind Yutaro; seemed he was just one step ahead. He was now effectively the only thing standing between Tomoko and her target.
"Yea that's...actually, I'll take these too." Yutaro had picked up a box of the very chocolate mints she had her eyes on. For a second, she thought perhaps he liked them too. If he did or not would remain a mystery, as he handed them off to her instead.
"You said chocolate mints, right? I hope you like that brand."
"Thank you." Once he paid, the two stepped out. Now then, the arcade, as the two had agreed on. Opening up the box of mints she'd been gifted with, Tomoko reached in and popped one into her mouth. Yummy. Ah, the arcade. This was where Tomoko was at her best, save behind the screen of her own computer. Many games to play, and she did her best to top the leaderboards for all of them. However, today was not a leaderboard day. Today, she was here to compete with another player, live, right there standing next to her. She'd already played everything here and hit the number-one spot at least once in each game, so it wouldn't be fair for her to just pick a game at random. For all she knew, she'd pick something Yutaro would be bad at, and that just wasn't in good sportsmanship at all. She'd let him pick, she decided. A small extra thanks for buying her the mints.
"You can choose the game. Pick your poison." @Takashi
Another day in E-District. Petty crime filled the streets, and on vigilant duty to keep it in check was the one and only Collider. A weapon at the hip and a look of determination in the eyes accompanied her visage as she made her way around the streets of E-District, looking around for any signs of trouble. Most days, there was plenty of trouble to stop around here. Lately, one particular band of thugs had been a real thorn in her side, and she made a point of being a thorn in theirs in return. Whether they were mugging a helpless citizen, holding up a convenience store, or worse, Nadia was there at every opportunity she had to stop them. They'd been very quiet these last couple days. That bothered her a bit...
It was as she was walking across the street that she heard it. A rumbling sound from the earth, a shaking beneath her feet, and the engine of a very large vehicle. One of these things was not like the rest. Looking toward the engine sound, Nadia saw a large semi truck speeding in her direction. Too late to get out of the way, one thought crossed her mind. So this is what they were up to. Switching on her powers just as the truck got within range that she could smell the engine, Nadia took the impact, sending her reeling at least four blocks down the street. It may have knocked her a long way, but she was uninjured. A few seconds later, as she lay still in the street, she heard the truck come to a stop near her, and the doors open and close. There were two voices this time.
"That had to kill her!"
"No way cuz, we're dealing with Collider man. We gotta lock her up somewhere, man."
"Put her in the truck and let's go!"
"Attention all civilians. Please go to the nearest shelter. Attention all heroes. Please head to the border of D, B, and E-Districts and head towards the, uh, giant mound of bones. The threat level is: Big-Big City Threat. Man, we really need to actually name them."
That was not one of the gang members. That was the news. Trouble at the border of E-District, was it? That was Nadia's cue to action. Getting up and looking at the two men that had so kindly run her over with a semi truck, Nadia said "No, I'm not dead, yes you'd have to lock me up somewhere, and sorry, but I have bigger fish to fry than some street goons right now." With that, she ran to the truck, jumped up onto the hood, and activated her powers once more, leaping off the hood of the truck with all her might to land on a nearby rooftop. This hero was on the job once again.
It was as she leapt from rooftop to rooftop that she saw someone else. Another hero she'd recognize easily. Anyone who had seen him probably would. He had a very distinct appearance, after all, and was a pretty big guy to boot. Kristof Brandt, otherwise known as Strongman. He was strong, but not very fast. Nadia, on the other hand, could go really fast. She had an idea.
Leaping down and landing not far to the man's side, Nadia went straight to the point with "If you're heading for that mound of bones, I can give you a lift. Not for long, but it should get you pretty far." @Unraveller
"I'm just running an errand to pick up some batteries, but after that I was planning on being as unproductive as possible until it's time for work. The rain just kinda... yea. I must have been a fire-type in a past life or something."
"As a water-type myself, I can't imagine what that must have been like." So he was just out here to get batteries then? Talk about a simple reason. But being unproductive all day was no good. Even if it was just playing games, there was no reason to not do anything all day. By no coincidence, playing games all day was sort of Tomoko's plan from the start...but server problems. Seemed like neither she nor Yutaro had the best start to their day. She knew that when she was feeling down, a quick trip to the arcade always made her feel better after taking over another leaderboard. Just as Tomoko was about to propose the two go to that very arcade, Yutaro spoke again.
"Say, since neither of us have anything to do, what do you say we kill some time at the arcade? Games are always more fun when someone's actually there playing with you anyway."
"You took the words from my mouth," Tomoko answered. "Let's get your batteries first, though. You still need those, and there's a box of chocolate mints with my name on it in one of these stores." Gaming on an empty stomach was not a good idea. That would leave her thinking about food, and she wouldn't be able to focus on the game like she otherwise would be able to. That wasn't a disadvantage she wanted to take on, especially since she had no idea how good Yutaro may or may not have been at different games. Besides, who didn't love minty snacks? @Takashi
"Ah, Tomoko. I didn't see you all the way down there."
"Short jokes? Talk about a low blow." Tomoko wasn't really sensitive about her height. She was only a bit below the national average, and being taller didn't exactly give any major edge to compete with in games, so it wasn't something she had to worry about in either case. If anything, there was advantages to being a bit smaller. Not having to bend as far down to plug things in or out, lower center of gravity, and even being able to roll along jabs at height like the one Yutaro had just thrown her way.
"So, what are you up to on the lovely day? Hey, I don't mind having a chat, but can we do it under an awning?"
"Under this one then," Tomoko answered, moving under the nearest awning and pulling the hood down off her head. "I would have been gaming today, but my usual Sunday games are down today for server problems. So instead I decided to buy some snacks and plan my day from there as I go along. And yourself?"
Standing at 5'7" and weighing 136 pounds, Nadia's frame is one belonging to a young woman who has put a lot of time toward physical training. With light brown hair and green eyes, the girl is seldom seen without her trusty weapon somewhere on her person. Most commonly, it is holstered at her hip. While her expression can be very serious in combat, it is usually much lighter and friendlier when not in the heat of battle.
Personality The first thing one would notice Nadia is the complete lack of fear on her part. No matter the odds or situation, she simply refuses to be afraid of anything (or so she'd want you to think). While this can make her reckless, what she lacks in fear she makes up for in confidence. There are probably few as certain of themselves and their capabilities as Nadia. To make this confidence even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it), Nadia is stubborn as a rock. Giving up is just something she doesn't do.
With all this said, even Nadia isn't completely without fear. Since the day she was born, she's been afraid of the dark. Not because of the lack of vision, but that doesn't help much. She's more afraid of what might be in the dark when nobody can't see it. Her vivid imagination hasn't made this any easier to manage. She reacts to fear with violence, even more so than how she reacts to evil. Speaking of beating up bad guys, Nadia has sworn never to take a life unless there is absolutely no other way. This doesn't mean she has any respect for lawbreakers, though; quite the opposite. While she hopes they can redeem themselves, Nadia hosts very harsh opinions about villains and thugs alike.
Of course, even heroes have some down time. With hers, Nadia is actually a very casual person who would be perfectly happy just sitting down somewhere and having a drink. She gets that not all the time is business time, and tries to enjoy herself to the fullest between hero jobs, as it's pretty tough work. Her sense of enjoyment is a very relaxed one. Sit down, grab some snacks, maybe watch a funny movie, and just let the hours tick by until it's time to work again. She'd be more than happy to have someone join her as well.
Powers: Typically, when two objects collide, some of the kinetic energy is converted into other forms of energy. Two examples include the sound made when clapping your hands, or a dent made in a car during a crash. Nadia's ability, however, prevents this, causing the full force of the collision to occur without her side being damaged. Aside from making Nadia herself virtually indestructible, this enables her to bypass the body's built-in limiters and use 100% of her power without fear of tearing muscles or breaking bones. As a result, she's far faster and stronger than her otherwise-normal appearance would suggest. It's also possible to extend these properties to an object she makes physical contact with.
While this ability does prevent damage, however, it does not prevent the collision itself. Rather, due to all of the kinetic energy being maintained in the collision, Nadia will get knocked even further than she otherwise would while this is active. Additionally, since this ability involves some pretty advanced science shit, it takes quite a bit of calculation to use, making it hard to use for extended periods of time.
Weapons: Nadia uses a sakabato; a katana forged with the cutting blade on the inwardly-curved side of the sword, rather than the usual katana having the blade on the outward side. Because her power can reinforce objects with similar properties to herself, the sheath is also a viable weapon in combat.
Fighting Style: Ideally, Nadia likes to end fights in one strike. Of course, she's seldom so lucky. Typical Nadia combat involves striking with the sakabato while using the sheath to parry attacks. If she has decided the only way to stop a villain is by killing them, Nadia will holster the sheath to her hip and turn her sword around, devoting both her hands to pure offense.
Signature Moves:Vault Strike: The only really special move Nadia has ever thought up. Nadia slams her sheath into the ground, sending her high into the air. From there, she uses a combination of momentum and raw strength to land one massive aerial attack with both the sakabato and the sheath.
Born in a rural town far from Megatropolis, Nadia Penn was the child of a simple mailman and his simple lawyer wife. She lived a simple life, in a simple town, with simple friends and simple foes. She had a pretty notable taste for the cultures of the Far East, but more on that later. One very popular game with Nadia and her friends was that they would play heroes & villains. Nadia was always the hero, and no matter how many of her friends played the bad guys, she didn't let up until she won. That life lasted for twelve very simple, but very happy years. Then she developed superpowers and things got a lot less simple.
Now that she was a real live hero, she had to fight crime and stuff. That was how she saw it. Her enthusiasm for Eastern culture comes into play here, as she turned to such mediums as anime and manga for some pointers. She signed up for classes on how to use a sword, got herself a wooden katana, and set out in her free time as what honestly was little more than a street vigilante. Three years later, something crazy happened. A real live villain had invaded Nadia's peaceful hometown. Being the only one with superpowers, it fell to Nadia to save her town. After a fight like none she'd experienced, the villain was apprehended and sent away. The cheers of admiration and gratitude on that day are sounds she'll never forget.
Using funds given to her for saving the town, Nadia purchased herself a real weapon. Preferring not to kill when possible, but still wanting the option just in case, Nadia had decided on a sakabato; a katana with the blade on the reverse side. Some more years passed, and eventually Nadia realized her fight against evil wasn't going to get very far in this little country town. Purchasing a set of armor to match her weapon of choice, Nadia left home at the age of twenty, and set out for Megatropolis.
Life in the big city was rough at first, but she quickly adjusted. In the interest of keeping an eye on the poor, who were both more likely to become wrongdoers and would be more easily victimized by pre-existing ones, Nadia purchased an apartment in District E, devoting all her spare time to the hunt for evil.
Skills: Outside of her skill with the sword, Nadia is good with machines and technology. Not to a point where she could craft superhero gadgets, but it's a goal of hers. She could probably get a day job as a mechanic or something if she wanted to. She's also a pretty decent artist.
Weaknesses: Nadia's power grows weaker with fear. This normally isn't a problem, as one would think she fears nothing. However, this is not entirely true; Nadia does have one fear. She's afraid of the dark, causing her to inherently be weaker at night or in dimly-lit places. A room with no light would render her completely powerless.
Did somebody say we need some females up in here? This CS got a bit bigger than I initially thought it would, lol. Anyways, here's character 1 of 2. Second one will probably be a villain since we've only got one villain so far and like six or seven heroes.
"Fear is just a lack of confidence."
