In a sense he is a man who lost his purity when he met the woman who evoked maddening passion in him. It was a woman who waylaid Caster. Yet the potential for madness and evil was always something that lurked within. A man who did good, who resisted the devil and that voice.
Yet in the end he failed.

The famous Archdeacon from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. A troubled and yet pious man. Despite the high position as a man of faith he engaged in heretical practices and became a great magus along with a priest. Quasimodo himself was in fact a homunculus, created from a perished gyspy babe that he attempted to save and nurse to health. Such a sad ending moved the man, and in an act of both hubris and compassion, Clade Frollo went beyond to try and overcome his failure.
As such he made a homunculus, as such he raised a boy as his son. A homunculus has physical defects, and the genetic material of the gypsy boy was not that of a healthy child in the first place. Abandoned to die.
Yet as long as he lived it would be okay.
Even if their lives together ended in tragedy, even if passions drove men to sin and death.
It was not wrong to pick up that child. It was okay to create life.
The story of Notre Dame is well known, and his life held an overwhelming madness and tragedy to capstone a life of hardship.
Memories of the times that warmed his heart and provided the reason he resisted those impulses throughout his life are faint. Yet they linger, the tempering influence to the man ruined by passion who so single-mindedly pursues one obsession.

At a certain point a collapse/sublimation of Casters ego may occur and a alteration of his saint graph will happen.

Destructive love, passionate love. To desire a certain Gypsy girl was the drive and ruin of Caster. A passion that united both the ****** and man in a single-minded pursuit. The girl was an existence that must be had by Caster, the girl was an existence that he hated, that he loved.

It is the desperate wish of those who are unable to reach perfection, enlightenment or saintliness for salvation that is born of a similar line of thought that led to the childish belief and act of branding and forcing the burden of all the evils of the world to another to absolve one of sin. Following the childish belief that the lack of evil is good, and shaped by the act of pursuing purity as a faithful of god, attempting to strive for an ideal that cannot be human but is instead dictated by the divine.
A crystallization of Caster’s obsessions and struggle between them and his desire to be a good man of god sublimed into a Noble Phantasm.
While it is called hellfire in truth it is more a passive Noble Phantasm that applies an attribute to his magecraft, leaving it akin to righteous flames that would consume Notre Dame if not contained.
The attribute of Judgement is applied to the magecraft of Caster. The effect is similar in a vein to the Baptismal Rites of the Church, being a rejection of that which is recognized as wrong or sinful in the eyes of god. Those that are evil, those that are not human, and so on.
