Writing is like a workout muscle. If you haven't written in a while, it hurts at first, but when you're done, the endorphins come rushing in and you forget why you ever stopped.

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Near Kari's House
Mentions: Drake (@Punished GN) Direct Dialogue: None.

”You wanna really back up your big words? Go get rid of Emily and her goons for us.”
Drake

Luna gave Drake a long stare. What he asked was suicide, but…

She looked up over at the monstrosity that towered over Kari’s home.

She’d seen worse.

As Drake, Stormy, and Sully moved out, Luna turned her attention to the house, and narrowed her eyes.

She was gonna need some help if she wanted to pull this off.

Kipnu Riil

Kari's House
Mentions: None. Direct Interaction: Everyone in the ice fortress.

As Ken bounded up the basement steps, calling for war, the atmosphere went from disappointing to fearful. Layla nearly dropped the bauble she held. 8th Street? Here? Filled with people who hated her dear Britney’s guts?

Wait, how many guts did Britney have? What did guts even taste like?

She moaned behind a hand, her head spinning as she sank down to her knees. Aislin moved to her side, rubbing her back. “Hey, you good?”

“I’m too fuckin’ high for this.”

Aislin fished around in her bag, passing over a half-filled bottle of water. Layla finished it in a few gulps, wiping her mouth. She stayed there with her hand pressed, before she mumbled. “What are we gonna do?”

Aislin laughed. “You really are high- ‘what are we gonna do?’ What we always do, sister. Beat up some bad guys.”

That was when a huge explosion rocked the house, causing Aislin’s eyes to widen. She snapped to her feet, running up the steps to the basement door. She swung it open, nearly burning her hand on the door’s handle. Smoke poured in along with the glow of hot flames, shrieking with the faces of the damned. Aislin covered her nose with an arm, eyes watering as she cried out, “We’re trapped!”

Layla struggled to her feet, reaching out for Aislin as she came rushing back. They held each other, looking desperately for an exit. Before their eyes snapped to the sound of ringing steel and shattering glass. Manicured nails swept the glass of the basement window aside, and a head stuck itself half in.

Luna.

“The hell are you two idiots doing? Get out of there!”

She reached out with a hand as the flames consumed the main level of the house. Layla crawled out first, followed closely by Aislin, choking on smoke as the fire spread to the basement. Pulling them a short ways away, Luna gave Layla a light smack.

“The hell were you thinking? What would I tell Mother if you got hurt, huh?” Her eyes glanced cooly over to Aislin, “You should have known better.”

They could hear the sounds of battle, including Ken’s shrill cry echoing through the air.

“We’re high.” Aislin giggled, wiping smoke-induced tears from her eyes. “Also, the hell are you doing here? Aren’t you like, a criminal?”

Before Luna could answer, Mr. Riil appeared, pulling Layla closer to himself. He ignored the outrage in Luna and Layla’s eyes as he wiped the soot from Layla’s face, then straightened and spoke to Luna.

“You’re lucky 8th showed up. That egomaniac was about to cut off your family ties for good.” He said in a cold tone. “Not that I care, but I imagine you’d function better on our deal if you had at least some semblance of your little ‘pet project’.”

Luna scowled. “Shut up.”

“You still owe me. Don’t think I’ve forgotten.” He said plainly. He then moved to address the group, shifting Layla in his arms. She squirmed uncomfortably, but he ignored it.

“Your enemy is split into two groups. In front of the house, and within a construct of ice. Most of the Coven’s attention is on the towering monster and the surrounding members.”

He paused, lifting his masked chin. “Might I suggest hitting them where they aren’t expecting it and starting a two-front attack.”

Luna inclined her head. “You mean…”

There was a wry tone in Mr. Rill’s voice. “Yes. Attacking those in the ice.”

The wind howled. The rain pelted as Aislin, Luna and Layla made their way to the fortress. Squinting through the rain, Aislin knelt, connecting with the wet earth. She turned her head back a bit, yelling over the storm.

“You might want to step back a bit. Incapacitate anyone you see, okay?”

Luna and Layla nodded in unison, stepping back as Aislin began connecting with the ground and animating it. In these conditions, she'd need a second to try and pull everyone within the fortress out. Meanwhile, Luna and Layla were on high alert, the latter hiding behind Luna's shining armor.
Oooooh, very nice. :> I have finally had the chance to read it, and it looks like Boris is finally making an appearance! Were we ever given a description of Boris? :o

That also means it's my turn, I will try to have something up in the next few days here!
It has a center around the eyes that is more physical, yes.
He handed over Layla’s memories to Anya on a silver platter in the form of a dossier file that slid across the table. Touching it, Anya would instantly feel the flush of information first hand from those moments, as well as the situation between The Temple, The House of Cards, and how Sycamore factored in.

"I'll do what I can on my end through their member's dreams. So yes, we have a deal, for now."

“… We have everything under control,” Luis took a puff. “Trust us.”

The IC is literal fire right now, props to an amazing combo collab, Atomic, Fern, and Ghost. :>

Elys Adair

Oratorio - The Adventurer's District, //A3
@SilverPaw

Her exhaustion had gotten the better of her. She had inherently kept all her remaining attention on the sounds around her, avoiding the masses that moved around her in the city that stirred in the morning - that she had failed to detect one of those masses, crimson-stained, was headed directly for her. It wasn’t until she felt a light touch on her shoulder that she was alerted, and by that time, it was far too late.

She could ‘see’ them. The crimson flame was surrounded by masses that stuck idly by him. Friends? Followers?

“Hello, there,”
Crimson

“Last time someone thought to put a hand on me, they lost it in one clean sweep,” Elys growled, hand holding her battered sword twitching. Her chin jerked sharply to his hand. “Remove it.”

“You know I could have attacked you now as you’d done when you first met me. You know what would happen if I did, don’t you?”
Crimson

That’s when Elys paled under her blindfold. The masses attentive to the crimson flame seemed a touch more ominous in their presence now. How many were there… four, five? Too many to take on with her bare fists. Even too many with her staff, wedged in her other grip around the loot she held.

She couldn’t fight with a broken sword.

He knew that.

And he was furious.

Almost immediately, her heart sunk a little, trepidation pooling in her veins. But she refused to bow her head, staring aloofly at where she assumed the crimson flame’s eyes were.

“Remember that. If you have any honour, you will find a way to repay me.”
Crimson

“Repay you?!” Elys hissed. There was no way she would do anything of the sort. It was only her in the vision ascending the stairs, no one else. To even consider another Ichor-blessed as a friend, or even in non-hostility, was blasphemy.

“We don’t have that luxury. Surely you, of all people, would know this.” She said, biting down on her tongue before she said anything further. She was at a severe disadvantage. She needed her sword fixed, among a growing list of extreme necessities, in order to survive.

Right now, she could hardly defend herself.

But perhaps it was for the best that she didn’t have her sword, torn as she was about the reality of being an Ichor-blessed. Torn over having to end the others in order to survive.

Abruptly, she turned away. “I wish to be left alone.”

He seemed ready to leave anyway, and as she clenched tighter to the sword in her hand, she could only feel a faint sense of humiliation, having to ask for pardon instead of simply taking her leave.

If he left in peace, she would have to hurry. Sell her loot, and head to the Bladerights.
Mhmm, mhmm. I getcha.

New post is up, thank you so much for your patience!

The Shadow Entity

VV

Archives Room

@Qia, @Silver Carrot, @Wayward

The shadow entity that faced A seemed to freeze in place, before it began to spasm erratically. Muffled grunts escaped its lips as a quiet pitter-patter of black ooze dripped from its eyes. A’s ability had grabbed ahold of the squishier, more formed parts of the entity’s ethereal body, and was wreaking havoc.

Its muffled screeching grew to incoherent screaming, and it thrashed this way and that before succumbing, dissolving into a pile of goo on the tiled floor.

Pia, on the other hand, had decided to use their environment to their advantage. The shadow entity growled in annoyance as Pia was able to protect themselves from the wave of darkness. But when she raised the rifle, its eyes widened. The rifle wasn’t like a normal run-of-the-mill militant type. Its bullets were specifically infused with an electrical current that disrupted the energy field of Wilds. When they penetrated the shadowy membrane of the entity, it hissed and shrieked as holes were torn through its ethereal body. With Pia’s superior aim at point-blank range, the entity soon collapsed on the tiles as a hole-riddled mass, unmoving.

VV faced her own shadow entity, sprint-rolling to the side to narrowly avoid the dark wave crashing into the server wall behind her. It was then she reached out with a hand, and ethereal tendrils shot out, constricting around the entity. It choked out a yelp, struggling uselessly against the translucent cords. Slowly, VV pulled back, drawing the entity closer.

“Submit to me…” She whispered, eyes never leaving the entity.

That was when D came pounding through the stairwell door, the heavy metal frame swinging wildly as he entered the Archives Room. Just as his feet crossed the threshold, the most horrific thing happened. The crumpled entities that lay at Pia and A’s feet began to stir, slowly pulling themselves back together. There was a long, breathy moan that filled the room as all the entities, including the one VV was trying to reel in, began to trickle together like rain, conglobating into a central mass above their heads. The shadow being, now formed into one singular Wild, stared at them coldly from the ceiling.

“Too little, too weak. I need more. MORE!

It began to thrash shadowy tendrils around the room, aiming to wrap up and constrict Pia, A, D, and VV. VV dodged to the side before reaching out with her power once more. Translucent cords wrapped around the shadow entity, but she couldn’t pin it down. It was far too powerful.

“Quick,” she cried to those around her. “Give it everything you got! We gotta weaken it!”
Hey everyone! Been a minute. Hope you're all doing well.

Hey! Yeah it has. o-o

I've just finished getting over a huge bout of sickness, so I aim to have a post up today or tomorrow. My sincere apologies on the wait!
