Hello, everyone! I was curious if anyone knows of the Redwall book series and would be interested in a possible RP!

For those who do not know what the Redwall series is I'll give a little info! The redwall book series is a children/young adult (in my opinion not so children and more so adult) book series based on animals mostly smaller animals and medium size (mice, rats, squirrels, moles, fox, badger, hare, etc) living in an area known as Mossflower Woods and surrounding areas such as the Salamandastron the Mountain of the Badger Lords and home to the Long Patrol an army of hare/rabbits that follow the badger lord. Typically the books focus on the noble animals (mice, badgers, squirrels, voles, otters, moles, shrews, hedgehogs, and on occasion bird) taking on some form of evil animal or army (rats, fox, weasels, ferrets, raven, snake, etc). The books tend to be quite war/battle often with the enemy dying in sometimes quite gruesome manners. However, there are other things that take place such as great feasts, parties, holidays, etc! Many opportunities to arise!

If you would like to know a little more here is the wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwall

and if you have never read one I urge you to please do! They are wonderful reads full of unique and joyful/fearful characters!

I don't think so. I read one of the Mouse Guard books a good long while ago (and own the table top game) and I was just trying to see if they were part of the same series. Doesn't look it, even though the concept sounds similar.

Do I need to have read the books to play? :)

@Kelewen I haven't read or played Mouse Guard, but I was thinking the same when I saw it haha. I was like oh hey! Looks kinda like Redwall! and no not at all! The books are usually set in an Abbey known as Redwall Abbey where the noble creatures of Mossflower live. It is run by an Abbot or Abbess, whom is usually a very wise mouse. Many creatures live in the Abbey from mice to moles! It also has frequent visitors like otters, shrews, hedgehogs, badgers and more! It also has many enemies as well! The books typically revolve around a hero or group of heroes undertaking some kind of quest! This hero is almost always visited/have a vision by the ghost/spirit of Martin the Warrior, a former mouse whom lived in Redwall Abbey and saved it from an evil warlord. They are then given a quest by him of someone in need or things of that nature!

Almost always the species of animal determines the alignment of the being. (mice, badgers, squirrels, voles, otters, moles, shrews, hedgehogs) being noble creatures while (rats, fox, weasels, ferrets, raven, snake, etc) are evil. There are many different groups in the Redwall series!

The Long Patrol is a specialized, elite army of hares that live at Salamandastron and are commanded by the resident Badger Ruler of the mountain. As in a military, they are divided into a specific hierarchy of rank and function. Though hares have served under a badger at Salamandastron for as long as anybeast can remember

Guerilla Union of Shrews in Mossflower or Guosim (pronounced [gaw-səm]) is an important group of shrews that traverse Mossflower Woods and the surrounding country. They are water creatures that typically use logboats on the many streams and tributaries for transportation. An argumentative and indecisive bunch, they are nevertheless deadly in battle and never unwilling to help Redwall Abbey's residents or other good creatures. They are led by a head shrew always known as Log-a-Log.

There are also the otters! Always led by a "Skipper" they are noble and kind creatures! They tend to live in tribes near water sources and are always there to lend a hand to good creatures!

Anyways, I don't want to overload you hahaha, but this is just a little info I suppose!

Next time I'm at the library, I'll see if they have any. :) They do seem like something I would like to read. In the meantime, I think I could get by well enough with the info from the wiki to get into an RP.

@Kelewen Awesome! I haven't really planned anything out yet because I wanted to see if anyone was interested first! I don't know if we should wait and see if anyone else is interested or if you'd like to just do a 1x1 rp if it comes down to it? I'm not sure yet! I knew that not many people would probably know of Redwall haha so I didn't want to pour a whole lot of work into for nothing and see it fail.

@Weird Tales well typically in the books vermin are always evil. I can think of one ferret (son of a warlord) in the books who was found as a baby and raised at the abbey that struggled between the good/evil. Which vermin did you have in mind? As far as the larger creatures go (birds, snakes, foxes) there are usually only one of them present at a time as they are usually main characters.

I was thinking about a rat. I've read a lot of Redwall fanfiction where vermin are good, but their culture makes it hard for them to be good.

While I'm hoping @Weird Tales (and maybe even a few more) will join in the fun, I definitely enjoy 1x1 RPs too.

This Redwall fanfiction is defintely one of the best I have ever read and the writer's language is superb. It is a long read, but boy does he do morally grey characters well.
