Appearance: Jakyn is a rambunctious looking wood elf, with a large mane of fizzy red hair and a face full of organic, happy life. His body is long and lanky, his muscles popping under his tan skin and thin bone structure. His eyes possess no pupils, but are instead solid, deep green orbs that gleam and radiate with hope for the future, and a twinge of something very wrong far under the surface...
Background:Jakyn lived among a nomadic tribe of wood elves as he grew up, hunting and surviving as they had done for centuries. He was sufficiently educated on many things, including the wars happening outside of his peaceful tribe, and the complex workings of the vast forest he called home.
With the arrival of adult-hood, Jakyn set off into the world in accordance with his tribe's Elven traditions. Along his travels, he was captured and forcibly drafted into a lord's campaigning army, serving in bulk infantry on the bloody head of a single, tragic assault.
Jakyn was left stranded and mutilated after the combat, his body nearly paralyzed as he watched, helplessly, as his army marched onwards without him. In order to sustain himself and his largely immobile body, Jakyn resorted to cannibalism, consuming the bodies of fallen warriors strewn all around him. The wood elf was gravely ashamed of this unforgivable taboo, but could not bear the thought of dying so young; he continued to eat, and survive.
For a week Jakyn laid in that open field, attracting flies and, eventually, the demon lord Yeenoghu. Yeenoghu was intrigued by this graceful elve's fall from grace, and the depravities he committed in order to sustain himself. Yeenoghu came to the suffering Jakyn with a deal; he would be healed and given the sustaining powers of a fiendish warlock, and in exchange, Jakyn would forever thirst for humanoid flesh in the demon lord's name. With no other alternatives, the wood elf accepted Yeenoghu's offer.
Jakyn struck out into the world once again, now determined to make use of his potentially short life, and use the power he possessed to try and repress his new depraved, hungering urges. He lives life to its fullest, disillusioned by his close brush with death. He also commits himself to enacting heroic acts, hoping such deeds may cover up his insidious thirst... that of which he horrifyingly lapses back into every few moons.
Now, hearing the ancient words of a prophet he cannot yet see, Jakyn is prepared to embark on his greatest attempt at redemption yet. He enthusiastically hopes that this exploit can, in some way, tame the curse that boils within him.
Disclaimer: Unless revealed to other characters over the course of the campaign, Jakyn's cannibalistic flaw is not known to anyone except himself and his demon lord patron.
