I will have my own faction centered around Delta Pavonis.
There is a variety of known exoplanets that are downright bizarre in the space Yggdrasil reaches.
This "Cold" Venus world tidally locked around a red dwarf star is just one of the thousands of worlds Yggdrasil reaches (This is GJ 1132 b):
The diamond Planet 55 Cancri e is 40 light years away:
It's a super earth too. Yes, it's made of diamonds. For in certain cases a star system may be so carbon rich that entire worlds will be dominated by carbon. Generally carbon worlds are found around dead stars, but there is always exceptions. Diamond planets tend to be burning scorching in their temperature. (note; while 55 Cancri E is no longer believed to actually be a diamond planet, for the sake of this RP it'll be assumed that further analysis led to the world turning out to actually be made of diamond after all)
Gliese 1214 b is a massive world 2.7 times the size of Earth that is essentially a massive ocean so deep that the bottom of the ocean is a exotic form of hyper compressed ice instead of solid ground. The storms on these worlds are insanely massive and the water in some cases may actually be drinkable because of the ocean floor not being rocky, which means no salty oceans. The hostility of the environment however, may make extraction of water difficult.
There's only 71 known exoplanets that have so far been detected within 50 light years, but there is bound to be far more so feel free to design star systems as you wish. However make sure you have a star that exists within 50 light years unless you are using a brown dwarf in the outer parts of Yggdrasil.
Programs like
Space Engine can be usual for dealing with the 3D space involved in this NRP and getting inspiration for alien worlds. I should warn that Space Engine believes there to be A LOT more stars than 1400 or so. I recommend turning off procedural stars and planets (except those around catalog stars).
Here are some nearby bright stars of interest:
FomalhautFomalhaut is a young A-class star system notable for having massive amounts of asteroids due to being a star system still in formation despite the existence of gas giants (for gas giants form faster than terrestrial planets).
AltairAltair is a A-class star much like Sirius or Vega. Altair however, has the exotic property of having a exceptionally rapid rotational speed, causing Altair to flatten like this:
Altair's brightness is obscured by a nearby interstellar cloud of dust and is likely to be rich in iron (and iron worlds).
CapellaCapella is a multiple star system with two sets of binary companions. The first set of binary companions are two red giant stars, the second set of binary companions are dual red dwarves. In realspace they orbit 10000 AU apart, but in Yggdrasil they are extremely close to each other. (The red dwarves orbit at a distance of a mere .8 AU, less than the distance between Earth and the Sun)
PolluxPollux is the closest red giant to sol, and it is rather cool as far as red giants go with its apparent luminosity being a product of its sheer size more than actual brightness. Orbiting Pollux is a gas giant around 1.6 AU that is bound to be burning hot.
