The Eden Initiative

Hey everybody, thanks for stopping by and reading what I got idea wise but before we get to the thick of it though I just wana right off the bat say I am looking for committed rpers only, like ideally everyone will be posting once a day and I really really wana stick to that as best as possible. That being said, if you know you are just to busy/have something going on that might interfere in the days to come please hold off showing your interest-I'd really appreciate it and not only would it will really help me hopefully get the most committed group of people together but It would also ensure others have a good time/don't waste what time they do have investing into a rp killed by 1 or two people. Thank you guys in advance! 

Now all that aside I am not a huge stickler on post length/grammar (as you can probably tell I myself don't have the best grammar.) I've always been of the belief that sometimes less is more post wise so I don't like to “set limits” so to speak-honestly, this is in the advanced section so I don't really doubt anyones abilities here and I'm sure you all know what I mean when I say at a certain point it is somewhat difficult to not write several paragraphs-basicly I'm not worried about the occasional well written one paragraph post and likewise will not come down on grammar as long as I believe said person is actually trying. Now for those few I haven't scared off, onto the plot specifics!

I have a bit of an intro written up I'll let you all read before detailing some things left out:

Thunder roared across the darkening skies above one of the lifeless American cities that now represented the old world. The eerily silent city scape had been a change that took place almost overnight; a manmade viral infection of sorts that made the bubonic plague look like childs play having swept the world over in less than a week. Those unfortunate enough to have been left alive or immune are now hounded by the raving mad lunatics that are the infected-individuals that no longer recognize pain or reason in any form. Official reports suggest that the quickest way to put down these rabid men and women is by causing massive trauma to the brain.

Ten stories below ground within the walls of Echo Base Three none of this mattered though-that is to say the numerous scientists and soldiers that called this highly fortified and high tech bunker home were completely safe from any form of viral infection or attack; even better though was the fact that they were stocked with a good twenty years worth of supplies for the survival of all fifty residents that made up the world renowned staff and security. In actuality they were one of ten similar bases of varying size spread throughout the world to monitor the Eden Initiative, a rogue act which had been greenlit by the  various men and women that truly pulled the strings behind a clandestine order of highly trained and affluent individuals. 

The idea behind the Eden Initiative was a simple one and had remained true to the core goal set forth by the man who'd organized the first closed door meeting of varying worldwide powers: Heinrich Vonshlitz. His highly detailed plans at the time had centered heavily around his work done between the first and second world wars-works many in his scientific field at the time condemned as outright torture and barbarism. He claimed both his experiments and the lives sacrificed in the effort to prove his theories had been for the betterment off all of humanity clear up until his execution after the Nuremberg Trials. Like many things during the aftermath of the war the secrets of Vonshlitz's work completely dissapeared-secrets the members of the Eden Initiative had since gone on to dedicate their lives to making tangible. It was the very reason ex-tactician Brian Bradford found himself hunched infront of one of the most state of the art computers in the world: he and four other men filling the sterile white room that was surprisingly well ventilated for being so far underground. They all sat at computers just like his, their fingers moving in almost a blur across their keyboards as they took in and documented various incoming data and news both from above ground and their fellow bunkers. So far everything was going according to plan.

The single doorway into what was the information hub consisted of two completely flat, inch thick, metal plates painted a white sheen, both of which slid open in perfect unison with a Shhooop sounding noise. The man who had strode through the sturdy automated doors had a rather commanding presence about him: he wore the graying hair on his fat block head in what looked like an army type crew cut. Despite his older age and somewhat wrinkled skin his emerald eyes looked as clear and aware as any young mans: eyes that in this very moment were furrowed in such a way that made Brian Bradford unsure if the older man who unofficially outranked him was angry, worried, merely concentrated or all of the above. Brian had always assumed this unnamed man had been some high ranking military member or some such but for all intents and purposes his new identity was that of  the “Director”-as far as Brian knew no one was actually sure of his real name. 

“I presume my next thirty minute summary is on track as per usual, Mr. Bradford?” The director croaked in what everyone in the room recognized as his signature raspy voice. Like most questions asked his tone of voice made it very apparent he did not want to hear something contrary to the answer he was looking for. Before Bradford could answer the older man was looming behind the black swivel chair the slightly portly Bradford had been sitting at for twelve hours straight. Like usual the Director kept his hands neatly folded behind his back-if this was an intended gesture to make Bradford feel more comfortable it never worked. 

Luckily, like every member of the Eden Initiative, Bradford was a professional. “Of course sir.” Bradford spoke back without missing a beat, his slightly nazily voice sounding far more braver then one would give the man credit for at first glance. “As of 0400 hours communications worldwide has completely gone down. The combined efforts of our cyber atacks and strategic power plant destruction's were far more successful than our initial projections estimated they would be. Those few Countries even capable of reestablishing a dialogue are far to busy dealing with the spread of the virus within their own borders to even think of that as a priority-like the communication blackouts, the rate the virus is spreading is, well, phenomenal sir. To put it bluntly things are going far better than we could have hoped. We haven't even seen a move towards the use of nuclear weapons by any side, which as you recall had been one of our main concerns.”

“Good, good. That's excellent to hear Mr. Bradford, keep up the good work. I am to assume no involvement has been traced back to us, yes?” 

“Oh, of course not sir. Not a peep in fact-as far as the rest of world is concerned, well, no one knows what the hell is going on. Alot of end of days type talk.” Bradford quickly responded while mentally kicking himself for not including that in his short little shpeal.

The Director breathed in deeply at the end of Bradfords comment in a way that could only be described as gratifying. “And indeed it is, Mr. Bradford. Those numbers on your screen, that is the old rotten world dying away-and in its place shall be a true Eden.”

Now the Virus in question has only been in the worldwide population for four days but has already devastated the world to an unrecognizable state. There are no successful “safe zones” aside from random ragtag survivors living day to day amidst the still fresh corpse of consumerism; occasionally here and there larger groups of survivors band together for both noble and nefarious reasons before almost inevitably being overrun by the infected. 

Then there are the immune-a mere one quarter of a percent of the entire population on earth. These are the “lucky few” who will reap the real intended benefits of the virus; a virus bread and genetically modified over the course of several generations to force the true potential of man to the surface while simultaneously culling the unworthy of the over populated herd. 

To put it bluntly our characters (If immune) would become something similar to Olympic Athletes, their true greatest strength being the sheer immunity to the virus itself. However despite being at the pinnacle of human strength, speed, and reflexes they can still be killed by anything that can put down a normal man such as bullets and starvation-they do however require less food and sleep to sustain themselves. Those that are turned and immune stand out among average survivors due to their foggy gray eyes: eyes that match their rabid counterparts. 

Ideally the plot would be about this group setting up a community/unwrapping the secretes of Echo Base (of which I have some ideas) if the rp gets far enough. As of right now there are a few things left to decide on but I wanted to first see if this earned any interest.

So...any takers? I also meant to mention I will be keeping this group relatively small for the soul reason that I really want people to try and commit to posting everyday which is a lot easier with 3-4 people as opposed to 8-10.
