It has been less than a month since the death of our King and his sons, but in that time the world has seemingly gone mad. Pestilence spreads from the east while conflict breaks out among local rulers. Many siding with emergent claimants, locked in battle for right to rule. Reports of strange creatures and stranger men are flooding in all across the new borders. Death and fear are spreading among the people, brought on by the very warring nobility sworn to protect them.
The Rangers, hand-picked for service from the kingdom. To be appointed comes with possibility of opportunity. More often however, it is a life of undertaking great risk and enduring greater hardships. They are the first line of defence, peacekeepers and the law of the vast wilderness. While many are skilled woodsmen, the martial prowess of the most experienced Rangers is the stuff of legend. Ordinarily individuals would hold a limited jurisdiction, but in dire circumstance or times of crisis they are given free reign over the kingdom.
In these dark times and the absence of a King's word, some have retained a sense of duty. Many more decidedly abandoned their posts. These taking to the wind to look after their own affairs, cater for their own agendas, or offer their services to local rulers.
Meanwhile, somewhere in King's Wood, two fledglings and their hound are charged with a ward. An elderly man of medium stature, the finer details of their mission were withheld. All they know is the safeguarding of their protectee is an important task, and escorting him to his destination must be achieved at all costs.

Not going to get into the formalities of what I want or expect. Only running one version of this game, players will be considered on merit of their character idea and a writing sample. This is not a first come first served show, let's put that out there to avoid tears and disappointment later.
