I have been pondering for a few months now the possibility of gathering a very small group of writers not exceeding 4 people and creating a web series of some sort. The idea was that it every post would be a collab and would constitute as a chapter or episode in the series. The secondary to this would be that there would be an actual audience of readers for the series and possibly another page for the audience to discuss and review the series. I understand that other sites would probably be a better option for this kind of format (something like FanFiction.net for example) but the community here is just so robust and involved that I don't wish to migrate in order to pursue it. This is why I wish to ask Mahz for a separate forum for such a format because it is near impossible to draw an audience in the roleplaying forums because everybody wants to join the story rather than read it.
The point of this format is basically because if you are using RPGuild as a medium to increase your skill in writing then you are likely going to have a hard time with it unless every RP you have been involved in has been masterfully executed as it is a VERY different format from traditional writing. Rather than planning your story all the way through, Roleplaying is more like improv for writers, bouncing off of the previous posts and such. Don't get me wrong, roleplaying is quite fun in that sense but it is difficult to actually complete a story in such a setting.
I would oh so love to discuss this with the community for more ideas on the subject to make it a more viable option than it currently is. There might be some features that some of you can think of that would help build an audience for such a thing and actually make people want to read our fully realized stories. Before doing so I would like to stress that this format is supposed to be more like a short novel than a roleplay filled with collabs, that is the point of it so it is something I would like to repeat.
Some ideas for possible features:
+ A separate page for the audience to gab about the series and for more serious readers to make reviews of the title.
+ A highlight of some sort in the news page for well made and underwatched series similar to how it worked in the old site.
+ Headers at the beginning of titles to announce the level of writing performance (Ex: Free, Casual, Advanced).
+ (Waiting on more ideas from replies and discussion)
