Dewitt Research Base was a research post in Antarctica owned and operated by the United States. It is associated with the STARLIGHT incident of 4/5/2017-6/5/2017 which involved one Delta Force Squad, codenamed Razer 1.

The year is 2017. International tensions are running high after the war in the Middle East escalated with a US-Iranian conflict and after Russia annexed Ukraine following the 2014 ousting of its president. The US has started training soldiers in Antarctica, anticipating war with Russia . You will be a member of a Delta Force squad under going Arctic combat training operations close to the, US owned, Dewitt Research Base, before having to halt all training to secure the crash site of the base's helicopter and the base itself.

Rules
Usual stuff really
-No God Modding. You can't sprint across a battlefield mowing down every enemy with one magazine.
-Let us know if you aren't going to be active for a while or have to drop out
-Around two paragraphs per post, more is better but quality over quantity and I understand that two paragraphs isn't always possible
-Try and keep a rough track of your ammo. I'm not going to be counting shots but I'd quite like running low on supplies to come into play at some point and that won't happen if people are managing to shoot 5 times the bullets they should have in their gun before reloading.
-Don't do anything you think probably should be against the rules
-Don't be a dick

Weapons and Ammo: M4A1 Carbine (12 magazines) with an ACOG sight and under barrel grenade launcher (6 grenades). Beretta M9 sidearm (6 Magazines). Combat knife. 3 M67 hand grenades and 2 M83 smoke grenades.

Are we having a standard loadout, or are we for some reason going to have a mismatched assortment of weapons, which make resupplying each other a nightmare? You know, just because a Mk. 16 fires 5.56 NATO, doesn't mean you can load it with a 5.56 mag from an M4.

And on that note, if we are operating in a desert, like Antarctica. The M4 is less than stellar choice of weapon, just saying.



Name: Peter DeWitt.
Callsign: Pope.
Rank: Staff Sergeant.
Age: Thirty-two.
Gender: Male.
Bio and Personality: Born to a military family in Upstate New York, it came to no surprise that as soon he was able, he enlisted in the US Army. Which just so happened to be in time for the US lead invasion of Afghanistan. He would go on to spend several years in the Army, before he decided to attend Ranger school in the hope of becoming a Ranger. At first he didn't make the cut, but the year after he returned and was able to get into training and eventually become a Ranger.

Peter went on to serve with the 75th Rangers for several years in Afghanistan. He had planned on leaving the military at this point, or taking on a training position, however, relations with Iran made a turn for the worse, and resulted in an invasion of Iran. This of course meant that Pete was more or less forced into remaining in the Army, for the time being at least. Serving three tours in Iran, his time there was eventful to say the least, eventful enough that he was noticed by a Delta Force recruiter.

He figuratively leaped at the chance of joining the elite of the elite, and before he knew it, he was back in Iran doing the work that was very much kept of the books.
Weapons and Ammo:

Mk. 16 Mod 0, twelve 20 round magazines - Angled Front grip, side mounted laser/light mounts and a ACOG Scope.

M9 Beretta, four fifteen round magazines - Underbarrel light attachment

Combat Knife

Two M63 Fragmentation grenades

Two M83 Smoke grenades

I don't really want to restrict people too much so I guess it can be mismatched. I'll make sure to accommodate for it so someone isn't going to run out of ammo completely just because they chose a different weapon to everyone else. I'm not really a weapon expert, what would you say would be better?

Well, if we're in the Arctic. Then I guess a Lee Enfield, since that's what the Canadian Rangers use to patrol the rather cold parts of Canada. A weapon like the M4 is going to freeze up pretty quickly in the temperatures that you can expect in the Arctic. But that would be a little hard to use, honestly, I'm not sure on what to suggest, maybe the M417, which is probably no better. Since pretty much any weapon would freeze up in minus twenties.

Hmm we might have to waive a bit of realism here for the sake of not restricting everyone to one gun. It is 2017 so there's a bit of wiggle room with technology, maybe some kind of anti freeze coating has been invented.

I guess yeah, nothing stopping that from happening. But I guess since most of the RP will be happening inside the research base, I guess the point is moot anyways.

EDIT: I also guess, that I used the word guess a few too many times in my post, so I guess that's a bad thing.

Bio and Personality: Before joining the military Andie worked with her father in an auto repair shop from the age of about seven. After the death of her mother, who died of a very bad strain of the flu, her father slowly slipped away before passing on when she was 20. Since then, she has made the military life her life now and hopes to one day re-open her fathers repair shop and live a normal life. Andie is somewhat quiet and reserved, interested in how and why things work. She has excellent skills with mechanical things. A risk-taker who they lives for the moment. Loyal to her peers, but not overly concerned with respecting laws and rules if they get in her way of getting something done. Slightly detached and analytical, she excells at finding solutions to practical problems. She enjoys repairing cars and wepons and often talks about owning her own repair shop one day.

BTW, Shadow, your weapons are awfully unorthodox for your role as a Delta operator.

Not as bad as mine, I haven't made a military-related backstory in pretty much forever, to the point I sorta forgot how it worked.
