Welcome, you are an Program. An A.I., created by the Users to live inside the virtual universe known as the Grid. The Grid 3.0 is the newest version of this world, also created by the Users. Programs never age, nor does the Grid. They just evolve, by the Users creating patches and updates to the cyberspace.
Unfortunately, it is not a Utopia for Programs. You don't respawn like a User would playing in the Grid, you get derezzed, or otherwise known as deresolution. If you get derezzed, you are deleted, a destroyed A.I., either ended or absorbed by other A.I. such as viruses. And the Grid has a new dictator, a Virus, known as the Master Control Program, an A.I. that does not belong in the Grid, a practical God that has bent the rules of the digital world to its own, and now leads the Grid itself.
There are the Glitches and Bugs in the world, imperfect creations that are bent on doing harm to Programs. They can obliterate Programs or even worse, corrupt them to their will.
You are a Programs, created by the Users, with the functions to live inside the Grid. And the creator, Sam Flynn, has gave you the task of to hopefully deal with the rogue programs.
Let's hope you are able to do what you were created for.
-History: 1981 to 1982-
Kevin Flynn worked for ENCOM in 1981 and made highly sucessful video games. A man of intellect, he created Space Paranoids, a favorite and quite sucessful game, not to mention, he had made many more than just Space Paranoids. However, a man named Edward Dillinger had stolen Flynn's games, and called them his own to get many promotion, to the point where Edward was a high rank. Flynn was fired by Dillinger, and Flynn made an Arcade place known as Flynn's.
Dillinger had improved the MCP, the Master Control Program, originally created by Walter Gibbs. Dillinger had turned it into an very intellectual A.I. that ruled inside the ENCOM mainframe system.
Flynn, now obsessed with proving Dillinger guilty, had started trying to hack into the Grid, which was a cyberspace inside of the ENCOM mainframe system. However, every attempt failed, and soon resulted into one of Flynn's best programs, Clu, to be derezzed by the MCP. Dillinger had started to catch onto what Flynn had planned, so did the MCP.
Flynn's ex girlfriend and her new boyfriend, Lora Baines and Alan Bradley created the programs Yori and Tron, to help monitor the MCP and help Flynn out.
Flynn had figured a way to beat the MCP, but the MCP had used a prototype machine that converted Flynn into a digital creation and sent him into the Grid, and there, Flynn finished what Clu had started. With the help of Tron and Yori, Flynn derezzed the MCP, found evidence of Dillinger stealing Flynn's games, and was returned back to the real world.
Dillinger was fired. And Flynn was rightfully promoted.
1983 to 1989
Flynn almost became obsessed with the Grid, updating it, evolving it, into the point where the Grid wasn't just ENCOM's computer mainframe, but to a virtual reality, where Programs mostly looked and acted like humans. And Flynn had Tron to help him do so. At one point, Flynn had accidentally created the ISOs, programs that did not need a purpose or function. To him this was a miracle. Not to mention, Flynn had created a second Clu, but instead of this Clu being a hacking/virus Program, Clu 2.0 was created to perfect the Grid.
However, Clu went rogue, derezzed and corrupted Tron into Rinzler, and committed genocide against all the ISOs. Derezzing must, but Flynn had saved one last ISO named Quorra and protected her. Flynn stayed in the Grid, going missing from his son, Sam Flynn.
1989 to 2009
Clu had went on to become the dictator of the Grid. And just like the MCP, forced Programs to play the deadly games that caused most to be derezzed. He kept onto doing this, while looking for Flynn.
Sam Flynn, Kevin's son, was obsessed with finding his father, to the point of accidentally going into the Grid himself. He was forced to participate into the Disc, Light Cycle, and other games before being saved by Quorra and his father, they had ended up defeating Clu 2, but at the cost of Flynn's life, Sam had to leave without his father.
As Quorra accompanied him to the real world, she had become actual flesh and blood in the process, becoming human and out of the Grid, Sam showed her the first sunrise she had ever seen.
2009 - 2025
Sam had started to work at ENCOM, as Quorra started living a normal life. Sam had started where Kevin and Clu 2 had left off, working on the Grid himself and rightfully renaming the ENCOM OS back to Flynn OS, as it was his father who had created the OS his very self. Sam had also created the Flynn OS 13, leaving where the ENCOM OS 12 had left off. He recieved promotions for his achievements, and had ended up outdoing Edward Dillinger Jr. in the process.
Dillinger Jr. became frustrated about Sam's success throughout the years, to the point of thinking of sabotaging the Grid his very self. Which he had ended up doing, creating the MCP 2.0 to do his bidding, and the MCP had corrupted the Grid once again to its own will. Dillinger, like his father, did not know what he had done when he had updated the Master Control Program. Sam, figuring it out it was Dillinger, proved it was him, and got him fired like Kevin had did to Dillinger's father.
Even more angered, Dillinger had made MCP 3.0, an even more intelligent creation, that quickly went rogue..
-The Grid-
The Grid is the mainframe of ENCOM computers, now evolved into an actual digital universe. Constantly updated now by Sam Flynn. A Newtonian Playground, dubbed by Kevin Flynn. The futuristic, but dark Metropolis with a gloomy sky and neon lights everywhere, added with the deadly games where only one will most likely live. No one knows what is beyond the Grid, but thanks to Flynn, the Grid has become much more than just a little area, but an full on planet.
(More will be added.)
Here, are the Character Sheets for the people that are interested. I've been a bit addicted to Tron, and decided to make up an RP to substitute for what happens after Tron: Legacy. Like, I said, there will be much more added than just everything you saw, since this new version of the Grid will have to be a bit more explained since it would have been updated by ENCOM.
