Lilx Lyrx
C H A R A C T E RFull Name: Lilx Jasi Lyrx
Species: Betazoid
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Abilities: Can sense a full range of emotions, but sifting through complex tangled webs of emotion still takes time and great concentration. Projecting her thoughts to other Betazoids is relatively easy for her, but she hasn't yet learned to project her thoughts to non-Betazoids.

Hair color: Blonde (dyed from dark brown)
Eye color: Black
Tattoos/markings: None immediately noticeable, but she has a tiny tattoo of a bird in flight on her back's right shoulder that she got on Earth right after leaving Betazed for Starfleet. The tattoo, along with the hair dying, was purely to rebel against her mother.
Psychological Status: Fit for duty
Physical Status: Fit for duty, but she's a bit delicate
P E R S O N A L I T Y3 positive traits: Accessible, Benevolent, Optimistic
3 negative traits: Fussy, Hesitant, Self-pitying
Favorite Hobby: Reading romance novels
Favorite place to go: Besides her bed/bunk? She's usually too busy in med bay to take much holodeck time for herself.
Favorite food: Chicken parmesan
A perfect day would be spent: Solving everybody's medical or psychological problems efficiently with little effort, then taking some time for herself to relax and fraternize with the crew somewhere on the holodeck or in the mess.
Pet peeves: Passive-aggressive bullying/shunning, apathy, selfish people, violence
One thing that disgusts them: Excuses
Personality Type: When in a sick bay setting, Lilx is a maternal sort of physician who gets attached to patients. Outside of a sickbay, Lilx is optimistic about others, yet self-pitying in regards to her own problems. She is an extrovert who gains energy from being around other people and helping them. Introversion makes her overthink way too much. Hence why she always likes to be in public, presenting a happy face and pretending everything will be okay. Her happy face slips a little bit with headaches....

B R I E F H I S T O R YGrowing up in the capitol city of the Betazoid homeworld, Lilx was aware that her family had extremely high expectations of her. She was constantly reminded and reamed out by her mother for not excelling enough as a child, even though she won two trophies in academic decathlons as a twelve and fourteen year old respectively.
Lilx had always favored her mother in appearance, but her father in bearing. Her mother was quite haughty, arrogant even, and was never above using her keen mental powers to selfishly pry private information from others' minds; a practice that Lilx detested and, as quickly as possible, taught herself how to shield her own thoughts from someone at least as nosy as her own mom, though it might not keep someone less familiar to her out. Her father was silent to the point of awkwardness, humble, and a pacifist in the extreme.
Both of her parents still live on Betazed and are as healthy as can be (for the most part). Lilx writes back to them regularly, usually every week, and loves them both very much, albeit in different ways, even if her mother Shaxana is just entering the Phase and not divorcing, but legally separating with, her father in order to fulfill her carnal desires (holy crap run-on sentence!). This makes Lilx all the more glad to have accepted Starfleet's offer.
Lilx had always been a brilliant medical scientist. At eighteen years old, she had come up with a hypothesis on how to better treat the Zarithi fever and her work got her accepted into one of Betazed's premiere medical universities. After attending, she graduated as salutatorian (2nd) in her class with a degree in Pathology, with a psychology minor. She then went on to get a Master's degree in pathology, then finished up her doctorate's degree in neuroscience, becoming one of the youngest ever Betazoids - at age 26 - to achieve such a goal. Lilx did her doctorate's dissertation on The Phase once it became clear that her own mother was succumbing to its effects, quickly becoming quite promiscuous and legally separating with her father, leaving Lilx's seven year old sister in the custody OF her father.
Such a momentous occasion found her on her 26th birthday with a visit from a Starfleet recruiter asking her if she would like to take the test to be a part of Starfleet. Despite her initial objections to being separated from her little sister and home planet, her mother all but shooed her out the door, beaming with motherly pride (and just a little bit of a selfish gleam in her eye). Lilx didn't want to leave her little sister, but she ended up leaving her with a quick hug and kiss, promising she'd come back soon "with a way to help our mommy, okay?". Little Eet seemed pleased with this arrangement and "allowed" her big sister to leave.
And so it was that Lilx was shipped off to Starfleet, passing her psych test with flying colors, but only scoring in a mediocre fashion on the middle test and just barely passing the first math-related part. Brilliant young physician she may be, Lilx was and is NO engineer or tactician.
Upon arriving on Earth to commence being a Starfleet cadet, Lilx dyed her brown tresses to blonde in order to fit in and change things up. She also did it because she knew it would make her Phase-ridden arrogant mother disapprove.

Lilx is very talented in spotting and treating diseases of all types. She is already considered, at least on the Betazoid homeworld, a capable - if a bit green - physician since her family paid for all of her education, doctorate's degree included, so she never even had to take a paying job before Starfleet. All in all, Starfleet cannot afford to pass up this brilliant medical mind who also has the ability to calm patients' nerves with her knowledge of their emotional states.
