Carmen.

She wakes up, startled and confused. The familiar dryness of her mouth indicates that she has been snoring. Sitting up in bed, she takes in her surroundings. Her bed is illuminated by the suns rays that are streaming through the window blinding her; it's an early morning for most people, but not for her. A heavy rock forms in the pit of her stomach, reminding of her responsibilities as an adult. She must check her bank accounts.

Her heavy sigh breaks the silence in the small dusty bedroom. Without looking, she swipes her hand across her nightstand and brings her smartphone up to her face, for she is rather blind without her glasses (always misplacing and breaking them). Within the hour, after checking a handful of social media apps, she finally opens her banking app. Light tapping sounds emanate from the small device as she types in her information to sign in. She pokes around the screen, checking numbers and dates and calculating previous and future transactions. Her credit payment is due soon. The rock in her belly begins to shrink as she fills out the transfer form, double checks the information, clicks conti-- wait... Wait.

"What the hell."

It won’t let her complete the transfer. She sits there in silence, bewildered and concerned. Already on the road of adult behavior, she decides it's best if she finishes what she started and dials the banks number. She is tossed from one representative to another before she is asked "Ma'am? When was the last time you tried the transfer over an actual computer?"

Carmen sat there, lips pressed into a firm line, guilt setting in. "I tried at work on the 20th of last month" she uttered quietly. The bank rep, known as Felicity, paused for a long moment. She now knows Carmen is kind of an idiot. Carmen has known this for years, but situations like this still feel fresh and awkward. Lapses in her judgment always lead to extensive, awkward silences.

Felicity is the first to break the lull, "Are you able to find a computer now?" she asks politely, her voice indicating that she isn't exactly invested in this conversation, and Carmen couldn't blame her. "Uh--yeah! Let me get it out." she rushes to her room, falls to her knees and reaches under her bed. From beneath her bed, she procures an alarming amount of dust.... and also her laptop. She hastily brushes dust off of the old clunky device, opens it, and begins fumbling around the keys.

She runs into a few problems along the way of signing into the bank account via computer, but Felicity and Carmen share a lighthearted joke during the struggle. Soon (but not soon enough), Carmen manages to get most of her s*** together. She clicks through several links that all work just fine now that there is someone there to witness it, reassures Felicity that she is NOT crazy and she doesn't know why it all works now, proceeds to blame the app for being buggy, and bids a sincere farewell to the bank rep on the other end of the call.

There on the floor, she sits. The soft whir of the laptop and its warm bottom panel ease her into distant memories of its use long ago. She instinctively taps into the address bar. The cursor blinks in and out of existence. Slowly, she types in 'Roleplayers G' and the address bar predicts the rest. Instantly after hitting the enter button, she is met with a website that is familiar, yet different. Like coming home after a year of adulting to find that your parents had moved pictures around to make way for new memories and that the furniture has been upgraded.

Her lips stretch into a smile. She knows what she aches to do.

Hello. My name is Carmen and I am new and yet old to this site. It has easily been three years since I have last seriously revisited this site. It used to be my everyday activity for YEARS, I had many friends and had been involved in many stories. My longing to write again has brought me back. I miss the gut wrenching, heart leaping, and hysterical laughter inducing work I used to do here with the help of so many people. I miss the balance it brought me in my life and also the bonds I made with other writers.

I don't know if writing myself in as a character was a little uppity of me or not, haha. It definitely helped me get back into the spirit of things, though. I needed that.

I am 23 years old, from Southern California, and I work in the military. Currently, I am on leave so I have had a lot of time to reflect on how I would like to spend my free time this year. This would be a hobby I would love to pick up again. My current hobbies include comic book collecting (snot girl, motor crush, saga, and rat queens have been my favorites thus far) and video games (overwatch and skyrim are my go tos). Feel free to chat nerdy with me. I used to write a lot of romance, fantasy, and slice of life and I have played both male and female characters. I am interested in one on ones and also group roleplays. I get overwhelmed with intricate stories, and its something I am willing to venture into slowly, but I am not currently looking for that at this time.

I feel that I am an approachable and friendly person, so please feel free to hit me up.

I look forward to creating inspiring, horrifying, and useless stories with all of you.
