Name: Tamarin (Maya) Lupe-Garcia Flinn
Age: 19
Powers: Chosen of the Dead The ability to interact with and reanimate the deceased. She can see, hear, and control the dead. Calling these powers "Ghost Speak" and "Ghost Sight" are a bit much though. Most ghosts already react to what's going on around them, it's just that we can't see or hear them that makes them so happy to help the few people who can interact with them. Despite how many of them there are, ghosts get lonely too. Maya can see and hear the Dead, constantly, and if she asks them to they will help her in any way they can. She can also make a ghosts tangible so they can interact with other people or things, but only 2 or 3 at a time. She calls this "Summoning".
Darkness Dimension The ability to access a dimension of seemingly endless nothingness. She can come and go from this dimension at will, but the longer she spends there, the less control she has of where she comes back out. True "Teleportation" is virtually impossible due to this lack of control, but she can "Hop" to different nearby places through this dimension. She can also bring others into this dimension if she is touching them. as far as she knows there is nothing there, and she doesn't become hungry or tired no matter how long she spends there. The longest she's kept herself there is a week. "Portals" to the dimension don't seem to be possible, or maybe she just can't see them if she's ever successfully made one. You can't see anything in this dimension, just darkness- she can see the dead wandering there as well though, but they're not the same dead people that were around in our dimension, so she thinks this may be the underworld or something like it.
Shadow Manipulation The ability to call upon the Darkness to take out your enemies. She can control shadows to make intangible "Shadow-Figures" as distractions or to make tangible "Dark Weapons" or shadow tendrils out of them. She can "Grab" a person with shadows and, since she is technically touching them through the shadow, she can drag them into the darkness dimension. It's one of the more fun ways to ditch the government suits chasing her.
Power Stealing The ability to absorb the powers or life energy of others. She can pull the energy out of anyone she touches, which coincidentally, kills them. She calls this "life drain" and has full control over how much she takes and how quickly she takes it. most people tend to pass out before they die so she'll stop then if she doesn't want to kill them. She also can absorb the energy of any energy-based attacks she is hit with, if she knows they're coming. To "Absorb" an attack she needs to already know it's a form of energy, and know she's about to be hit.
"Ghost Vision" - She sees dead people. All the time.
"Ghost speak" - She can talk to the ghosts and hear the ghosts respond to her.
"Summoning" - She can make a few ghosts tangible at a time. 3 max at the moment.
"Teleportation" - She has no control of where she teleports to, but it's at least more than 100 meters away.
"Hop" - She can instantly disappear and reappear in a place nearby (Closer than 100 meters). She has some control over where this sends her, mostly she'll focus on a general area and appear randomly in that area. (Like, left, right, or 'over there')
"Portals" - If she can open a portal, it's invisible and she's never seen it work. Probably doesn't work.
"Shadow-Figures" - she can make shadows that move around and look like people but are intangible as distractions.
"Dark Weapons" - she can form weapons out of shadows.
"Grab" - Using shadow tentacles to grab people and maybe drag them to the shadow dimension.
"Life Drain" - she can drain people of their life force by touching them, and transfer that life force to other people or herself.
"Absorb" - She can absorb any energy-based attack she knows is coming. Absorbed energy is transformed into life energy.
Weapons: She's trained herself in close-combat with knives and hand-to-hand, but no ranged weapons skills. She has one real knife- a pocket knife her dad gave her after he died, all her other weapons are shadows.
Bio: Maya's been able to see the ghosts since before she was born, but she didn't know they were ghosts until she was 10, when her mama told her that her grandparents- who she talked to almost every day- had both died in a car accident 20 years before she was born. She has less trouble now telling who's alive and who's not, but for the recently deceased it can be a bit difficult.
The first time whe ever found herself in the dark dimension, she thought that she'd died now too. There was nothing, as far as she could see. Nothing but ghosts who didn't talk to her as nicely as the ones she knew. The ghosts here seemed tired, and angry. Like they'd only ever known this nothingness, and it was all they would ever know.
When she was 15 her dad died. The next day he told her why. The government had found out about his powers, powers very similar to hers, and they killed him so he'd never tell the secrets he'd learned from the dead. He told her where his body was, and she found him and made sure mama gave him a proper burial before she ran away. Her dad still shows up, once in a while, to check in on her.
Her other powers were discovered on the run. Wiping out cops and government suits wasn't the most fun way of learning the limits of what she could do, though it was effective. A few months ago, Maya found her way to Miss. Dawson's, and she has no idea how. But she's here now... and she's hoping she won't have to stay much longer.
Dreams/Wishes: Maya's greatest wish is to live somewhere in complete isolation from the living- like a desert island in the tropics, where she can just read books and talk to the few people who are always glad to hear from her- the ghosts.
Evil, Good, Walking the Line: Maya walks the line between good and bad. She only really hurts anyone who's tried to hurt her first- but she doesn't go out of her way to help anyone either unless she feels like she owes them.
Pets: Maya's pet cat, Shen, is dead. He's a good cat, but less needy than a living one. And it's easier to keep him with her her during travel.
