I have quite a craving for historical RP's lately so I figured it was the perfect way to get back into this site. Do keep in mind that I am aiming for a more realistic historical setting so no fantasy elements, please. I know that is a immediate turn-off for some people, but I find it quite fun. That being said, I'll lay down some ground rules:
1) While I do enjoy historical accuracy I'm not going to get my panties in a wad if somebody makes a minor mistake. I'll even allow for some creative liberties for the sake of creating good FICTION. Just use common sense is all I ask.
2) I love exploring darker themes. The past is full of all sorts of terrible atrocities, everything from discrimination all the way to outright genocide. I don't care to gloss over those simply because somebody is uncomfortable since they are a reality of the history of the human race. If any of those make you uncomfortable then I suggest you leave now.
3) If we're aiming for romance then I prefer MxF. Anything besides MxF was considered taboo for the majority of human history. If we were to write out a homosexual relationship then we would have to keep in mind the in character repercussions if anybody was to find out about it. That being said, I am open to the forbidden love/star-crossed lover sort of plots, but usually between two individuals of different social classes. The whole "homosexual relationship in society where it's taboo" thing I find is way overdone lately.
4) Literacy is a must. I grow bored rather quickly if writing with a partner who gives a short barebones reply with hardly any detail and just a bunch of dialogue. We are writing a story so should both be able to contribute. I don't consider myself to be the most fantastic writer in the world, but please just give me something I can work with.
5) Considering I am nearly in my 30's I do not feel comfortable writing with anybody under 18. Sorry, it's nothing personal. I just don't feel comfortable exploring certain themes in depth with people about a decade younger than me.
Now, what am I seeking to roleplay? Just look below for some of the things I'm currently considering. Most of the listed pairings, unless specified, can be romantic or platonic. I am also open to suggestions if there's something you'd really like to try that is not listed! Chances are I'll only decline if it's an event or period I know little about.
Prompts/pairings I'm especially craving will be starred.
Ancient Rome Gladiator x noblewoman Legionary x Centurion(platonic only) Vestal virgin x nobleman Slave x slave Persecuted Christian x Pagan*** Gladiator x Gladiator
