Can't delete old PMs

Yeah, I was thinking about how that would work since this system is a little smarter than just a dumb inbox/outbox.

Perhaps when you "delete" a conversation, your name is crossed off the participants list of that convo. The other participants can resume talking, but you won't receive any sort of notification.

If you don't receive any more notifications, isn't that kind of like a ignore system? If so, assuming the other participant is starting a new convo would that one be ignored as well?

I think the easiest way to delete pms would be to simply have the option of deleting an entire conversation with a partner so you only have active conversations in your folder. That would keep things very neat and tidy, imo.

What if the convo has 3 people and 1 person "deletes" the convo?

I'm setting up for a system where participants can come and go at the whim of a GM that adds and removes them (or the participants remove themselves). You can probably see where I'm going with it.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Kind of like Mute for Google+ shares.

Seems like you'd need a system to regularly delete conversations with no participants (all sides have deleted themselves). Maybe on the last participant deleting?

Ah, well I wasn't thinking about a convo with more than one partner.

But hmm, I'm assuming people would only delete a private convo once the topic is closed, to make space in their inbox folder. However, if there are 3 people in a convo and one of them leaves, while the others still use that convo, and deletes it maybe he still receives any new messages until he hits a separate 'Ignore' button? Likewise, we would also have the option to simply ignore a convo without actually deleting it in case there has been content up to that point that someone may actually want to keep?

Like a Mute button? Stops all notifications without deleting the participant in question?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If nobody in a convo wants it in their inbox for posterity, then the convo is orphaned in the system and I can delete it.

(I hadn't really thought about a max convo limit (or max inbox limit in other forum systems), but I see that it's necessary since private convos aren't moderated so someone create a bunch of garbage.)

I think that if you're a participant in a convo or roleplay, then you should receive notifications. If a roleplay/convo isn't important enough for you to receive updates, then you drop out of it.

Put another way, when you send a message or post in a roleplay, you know the other participants received it. Nobody gets to ignore it. No plausible deniability at RPGuild because we're serious business.

I think not having an inbox limit would be amazing as long as outdated pms can be removed one way or another. ^.^

Looking at the other side of the coin though, what if someone keeps on spamming your inbox, knowing fully well you received all their messages? In that case the option of ignoring somebody may be quite useful.

Yeah, exactly. Some sort of "block" or "ignore" feature makes sense as a toggle you can place at the user-level.

I'd really like to just to be able to delete PMs that aren't being used... leaving the converstation or what ever, but I have 8 conversations in PM that are active and 13 that haven't been touched in 3 months.

I have dozens of pm's open with like 3 sentences passed between the involved people. Even more from people that I tried to talk to that never responded, cs submissions, etc etc...

I have a few PM's that I'd like to delete, one from a message that got sent twice for whatever reason, and 1 that my partner hasn't posted in in a few days.
