Hello there!
I’m Miasma, and I’m looking for roleplays in a myriad of genres to keep me occupied. When it comes to storytelling, I prefer the fantastical and the surreal—sprawling adventures, multi-faceted psychological dramas, myths, legends and everything in between. I’m also an adult, and I’m capable of writing like one. I would ask that you’re able to do the same.
I’m afraid I’m a little bit picky with partners, but fear not; I’ll be very clear about what I’m looking for with a wonderful, maybe-slightly-pretentious and over-embellished list of…
Rules
1. Post length is subject to change. Some scenes call for thick, satisfying paragraphs, whereas others can be short and snappy to keep the flow of the narrative moving. My longest posts (the ones where I get really, really carried away) can be as long as 3,000 words. The shortest can be in the 300—400 range.
2. Despite this, I’d like posts that are well-written and descriptive with a focus on character development and moving the story forward. In short, I’d like to roleplay with writers.
3. I write both male and female characters. If you prefer a certain gender role, let me know. I’m comfortable with any breed of romantic pairing, and I adore a good love story, as long as the characters have genuine chemistry.
4. A post a day is adequate, and I can probably handle more if you can.
5. Talk to me, plot with me—I don’t bite. Roleplaying is a collaborative effort.
6. Please do not vanish on me. I take criticism very well, and if you want to call it quits for whatever reason, I won’t be offended. Similarly, if I have an issue with the roleplay, I’ll be sure to let you know rather than dropping you without warning.
7. I only roleplay original storylines and characters, so no fandoms.
8. I’ll require a writing sample from you before we start plotting, just so I know what I’m getting myself into. Here’s a writing sample of my own:
On the dawn of the fifth day, Nine woke up to find the elk slain on the moss. Its corpse seemed to blend seamlessly into the wilds around it. As Nine stared at the dead animal, he couldn’t tell where the dappled chestnut of its fur ended or where the dirt and roots of the forest floor began. He lowered himself to his knees and touched the animal with both palms. Its stomach was still warm. A single crossbow bolt was embedded in its skull.
Fear should have gripped him, but instead he was filled with an immeasurable sense of loss. He wanted to grieve the elk. He wanted to festoon its horns with wildflowers and press his body against it, and he wanted to remain curved along its flank until the sky became black again. Nine did not know how long he spent embracing the dead animal like a broken man, for time had somehow become irrelevant. He only knew he was hallucinating when the elk’s flesh decomposed beneath his hands, curling and fraying like the edges of burnt paper. Its glassy eyes sagged and disintegrated, leaving gaping apertures set in a pristine white skull.
The hallucinations didn’t end with the elk. That was simply the beginning, the prologue to the way the ruins became labyrinthine and endless, the way the boughs above him writhed and contorted into terrible, cryptic patterns, the way the clouds grew fingers and stroked the horizon until it crumbled meaninglessly beneath them.
