Welcome to Pemberton Children’s Home, an institute dedicated to looking after and re-homing children who have no where left to go. I am Charles Pemberton and I’d like to show you around.
We mostly take in teenagers as we find that our staff are better suited to look after children of this age range. This is why you are being brought here! We believe we can look after you better than anyone else can. We don’t have many rules here, young one aside from the usual ‘treat people how you want to be treated’ et cetera. But the one rule I must, must enforce is that this door remains locked at all times. You must not attempt to enter this door. You must not make someone else attempt to enter this door. It is forbidden. You will be happier here if you simply pretend it does not exist.
Ever heard of the saying ‘curiosity killed the cat’? Well, it’s a good rule to live by.
Our excellent team of carers are nuns, so you will refer to them as ‘Sister’ okay? The head nun is referred to as Mother, but I will let her introduce herself when she is ready. I must go now for I am a very busy man, I trust you will remember my rule? Good. I hope you enjoy your stay- this is your home now.
