Your characters have come to Master Wu's school to train in martial arts. You will begin inexperienced, but overtime you will become stronger and more skilled.

When your character acquires enough Knowledge they can upgrade one of three primary attributes:
Mind - Increases Speed and Agility.
Body - Increases Vitality and Strength.
Spirit - Increases Chi and Focus.

Attributes
Vitality: This is your health and how much damage you can take before being defeated.
Focus: This is equivalent to stamina and allows you to use physical techniques.
Chi: This takes the place of magic and allows to use chi techniques.
Strength - How much damage you deal.
Speed - How many times you can attack per turn.
Agility - Chance to dodge an attack.

Styles
A 'Style' is a form of martial arts. Each Style is usually classified as Fast, Balanced, or Strong. Fast Styles use quick attacks but do not deal much damage, and are best used against Strong Styles. Strong Styles rely on raw strength although they are slow, and are best used against Balanced Styles. Balanced Styles focus on balancing strength and speed, and are best used against Fast Styles.
Fists of Fury - Fast Style; +1 Strength, +3 Speed, -1 Chi, -1 Focus
Leaping Tiger - Balanced Style;
Standing Mountain - Strong Style;

Techniques
Techniques are special abilities that use Focus or Chi and can give you an edge in battle. Each Technique will take time to learn, and even more time to master. Physical abilities consume Focus and allow your character to pull off some impressive physical feats. Magical abilities consume Chi and allow your character to tap into powerful magics.

I would also be interested, and would like to make some suggestions for tweaking the system. I think keeping game mechanics simple is a great idea, but I think fleshing out the specifics of fighting styles more is crucial. Not so much in the sense that we would have to know a huge amount about specific stances, strikes, kicks, grapples, etc., but just the overall aim of the style being taught to our student PCs.
Also, would we all be learning the same style from the same teacher? If so, availability of moves and the likelihood of players producing over similar characters would potentially arise. If we have different masters, the PCs would potentially be rivals or enemies. See the dilemma?
As additional uses of Chi energy, I think PCs should be capable of resisting harm from attacks--as people are trained to do in Iron Body, which is basically getting beat on to increase pain tolerance via mind over matter--and to resist push attacks or attempted grapples by being "unmovable."
Can we assume this takes place in China, or is it just a general Asian-flavored setting? Sounds cool, definitely interested.
