Some kilometres north, north west of Winnemucca a lone, old and oddly large building stands. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is the building south of Lander. Beneath the building is a large laboratory in which is the beginning of an interesting tale, that is about to be told.
“Dr. Serranov, do you think this that this new bunch of recruits will be the perfect round? I mean in the last recruitment there was only ten percent failure. So maybe this time it could be less, maybe even zero. What do you think?”
“I doubt that… The previous patients had good genetic code, they were all survivors of harsh environments. And each got only one or two mammals. If Mr. Demci had truly authorized multiple animals, and in some cases even insects then i doubt the percentage will stay above fifteen percent, and I’m talking about success. And even that success is only physical success, meaning about forty percent of those fifteen will go mad.”
Three days later… after the patients had been already tested on.
“Look he’s coming around. And his readings are normal.” A soft women voice rang in Banokles’s ear. “Thank god… at first I doubted Dr. Serranovs words, but now I see what she meant. Only twenty subjects made it through, out of two hundred. Now we must see which will go mad.” The soft woman’s voice was replaced by a low raspy voice of an old scientist. Banokles slowly sat up, as he looked around himself he noticed he was in some sort of a containing room. And something was off. His vision wasn’t the same as before, and he felt a strong headache. He called out to the two persons standing in front of him, but they just passed on to the next containment unit.
Slowly stood up. He looked around himself and saw a hundred contain units just like this on, but only few were full. Though the ones close to him were empty. He could see how some people were wandering around in their little units, some were screaming and crying, some were yet to be woken.
