The group had just settled in at the inn at Easthaven, a fast growing settlement in the tundra in an area only known as Ten-Towns. The history of this group is widely unknown with the exception of Lucien who has been hunting those who cast a plague of undead on his home land, though none know where that was. While they were enjoying their drinks, a man approached the group and introduced himself, curious of the new arrivals.
He was friendly with his question of their identities. Lucien looked up from his drink with a stoic glare. "Who I am is none of your concern," he replied.
Hrothgar smiled. "A spirited one, eh? I like that." His tone went from jovial to serious yet friendly still. He warned them that he was in charge of Easthaven's citizens and protection, and anyone who brings ill-will shall answer to him. After the warning and seeing how weary they were, he gave them some directions as to where to purchase items and where to lay their heads. Seeing their potential, he asked them to stop by his house to discuss some "matters". Lucien waved him off as he downed the ale still in his pewter mug.
"So, what do you think? Should we go speak with him?" Celeste asked the group. She could see the concern on Hrothgar's face, and there was another matter on why he gave them directions of where places were, particularly focusing on equipment. She brought this up to them.
"Let's pool our money together to see what we can afford in the way of equipment then before we set off to help this settlement," Konros Harlon suggested. The rest of the group agreed and laid all the coins they had on the table. "610 gold pieces. Enough for some basic equipment outside of these walking sticks."
"I like my walking stick," Mirana stated as she took a sip from her tea. She was the only person who was not drinking mead. Most people tend to ignore her. This time was no exception.
"Just make sure there is enough for me to get a sword that will bash a mother fucker's head in," Koka replied. "It's gotta be a good one or else I won't fight."
"Some of us don't require expensive weapons and armor," Ser Dervish Dervington replied to Koka. He turned to Konros and remarked, "We will be good with simple armor and simple weapons that don't require a lot of materials or effort into making."
"Then let us head to the stores to procure what we need," Lucien replied.
"And help those that we can as well," Celeste added.
They all motioned in agreement, except for Mirana, but she followed them out of the tavern.
What a strange group we are, she thought as they left the warm tavern into the cold weather.
They used all their money and equipped everyone with weapons for the time being. The money they had on them was not enough to get everyone what they wanted, but it's what they had. Pomab would not accept their staves, so they all tossed them to the ground. Except for Mirana, but then again, she was weird. They put on their armor that they purchased. Only Mirana refused armor, but she is the strange one. Let's just hope she doesn't get hit or else she would die, and no one had the money to bring her back to life.
They went back to the tavern to help Grisella with pests in her basement. Easy feat, and they quickly dispatched the beetles and got a rewared for their efforts. Every little bit counts... But as they were taking a walk around, a small child ran up to them for help getting his fish back as monters took it. They found that the monsters were goblins. Dervish quickly casted entanglement on them but some still managed to escape and find their way to them, while Mirana used her magic to fire a missile at what appeared to be the strongest enemy. It was an easy battle, with only Dervish and Konros suffering damage. They'll live. Tis but a flesh wound. They found that there was plenty of loot that they could sell for a little more money for some more weapons. That might help a bit...
