Itching for an Interstellar Adventure

Suffice it to say if you like things like Star Wars, GotG, EVE Online, Animorphs, Stargate, Doctor Who, etc. you'll probably be interested. We could say this is far-future and humans have spread across the galaxy, or just pick another galaxy far far away… I'm not interested in playing humans as much as I am in playing aliens, since I feel like there's a lot of untapped potential in playing alien characters and so far I haven't run across any active RPs that run that way (though if you know of some feel free to let me know).

Regrettably I don't have a specific plot in mind so I'm looking for like-minded players who are interested in collaborating with me. I'm really just throwing a line out here, hoping for a good 1x1 because lately I've just been no good at GMing group RPs. I don't really care about pairings or romance but if it's something you'd like to do don't be afraid to suggest it, I don't mind mature content so long as it doesn't distract from character and plot development, which is what I enjoy most.

I'd prefer someone who is comfortable playing multiple characters (most will be NPCs but I feel like a good story needs a small handful of key characters), I myself prefer to play male characters but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing female characters as well. As far as posts go, I am a full-time college student and while I'm pretty good at keeping up with posts (at least I've been getting better) I also understand being so busy you don't even have time to think about RPing. It's cool, BUT if at any time you get bored with the story don't just stop posting, tell me and we can either think of something else or just quit, no hard feelings just don't leave me hanging. I don't have any requirement for post lengths, I'd say my own ability is Advanced but I usually stick to Casual because I'm lazy. Quality over quantity, if you can express your character(s) and move the story along in one paragraph or six, I don't really care. Just keep in mind the more you give me to work with the more I'll give back.

So far, all I have in mind is a character. Honestly I've just been dying to play an Andalite, they're probably my favorite alien race. If you're not familiar with Andalites that's okay, in fact it might even make the RP more interesting. (But if you're an Andalite fan too, all the better!) Roughly I figured he or she would be an outcast from Andalite society, probably a disgraced war prince or some such, now working as a bounty hunter or assassin or spy for some other race/people group (again, very rough, haven't decided). The story could emerge any number of ways such as target becomes ally, he's recruited by a mercenary ship, or has a bounty hunter on his tail, etc. The setting will be some kind of vague mixture of the Star Wars/Animorphs/Stargate universe what with rival factions and countless alien species and probably some kind of larger overall governing system trying to take over (the politics part is where I start fudging things).

First off, I'd like to comment on your writing style. Everyone prefers different sentence structure, and it can be difficult to find a partner that writes in a way you enjoy. Luckily, reading this request didn't feel like a chore. It flowed well, which made me especially happy! Now, onto your request. I'm not much of a reader (though I don't like to admit it), nor have I seen many science fiction films and shows, but the ideas and concepts do excite me. I had to look up Adalites, and must say they look pretty cool. I don't mind playing alien characters, but might have to make up my own race (otherwise I'll jumble up facts). Playing multiple characters and genders doesn't bother me, plus it's a given when you're participating in a 1x1 RP. A mercenary character sounds fun to act out. Anyway, if you're interested in role playing with me, we can discuss plot details.

I'm not a huge sci-fi buff so unless you're terribly off on some race I probably won't notice or care, mostly when races have to stick to a certain parameter it somehow ties into the plot, and since this isn't really based on anything canon it won't matter in the long run. I've seen quite a bit of sci-fi but writing it has always been something of a challenge for me, though I love the ideas surrounding it.

As far as plot goes, I was hoping for something pretty lighthearted. I do enjoy story-building and tend to keep making stuff up as I go along. I like the idea of being a bounty hunter, if you're leaning toward being a mercenary character it's not improbably to have a bounty on your head. We have to consider what the characters want, what they're after. Being goal-oriented helps shape the plot, even if the goals change later on. Being a disgraced Andalite makes my character an outcast from his society, and Andalites being social creatures it's very hard on him. Ultimately he wants to go home but knows that it is impossible for him to do so, as he would never be accepted back by his people. As for a secondary goal, he's looking for a purpose since he can no longer serve his people as a warrior, and he sees hunting down ruthless criminals as a sort of penance, as an added bonus he gets paid to do it.

What kind of character did you have in mind? You don't have to choose a race yet, just general ideas to build off of.
