Well, obviously, the name's not actually Gelgarin - even my parents weren't that bad, but for the purposes of this forum it will be.
Physically I'm 25, mentally one should probably double that. I'm currently living in the magical kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where activities such as music, drinking and talking to women are punishable by public flogging. As such I need someone else to vicariously live through, and roleplay seemed like the most inexpensive option.
I have basically never RPed before in my life, but I do have more than a little experience as a writer. I studied creative writing at university, and worked freelance as a feature writer for several years before I elected to start touring Earth's most miserable locations. In short, I lack any idea of the common practices or etiquette of a place like this, but I've got some game when it comes to arranging words in a pleasant order.
Assuming a group willing to tolerate me can be found, I intend to be playing advanced, and only advanced. I need an environment where I can agonize about paragraph structure and comma placement for sixty minutes before I can start enjoying myself. I like telling stories, but my real passion is in the development of characters, so the advanced board seems like the logical home for me.
Game wise, I prefer low magic, low science and low lore settings. Low fantasy or hard science fiction are my preferences, simply because they require committing the fewest new pieces of vocabulary to memory, and I find give one the greatest opportunity to tell a character focused story. That being said, words struggle to convey exactly how dull my existence is at present, so I'll play pretty much anything that seems well organised and non fan-wanky (a complex scientific term).
If any words of wisdom are out there then I would of course be appreciative, and I look forward to sharing my penmanship with a few of you in the future.
