Slightly unrelated's the deal with dating anniversaries? They seem so contrived."Today is the anniversary of when we first met!""Today is the anniversary of our first date!""Today is the anniversary of when we became an official couple.""Today is the 6 month anniversary of when we got back together after we broke up from fighting about our time spent together."The worst part is that people actually have these little anniversaries for months instead of years.Dating someone for a year is worthy of something, I guess.I just find it odd because I never have noted the date for any of these things.
Humans like to celebrate things, they like to feel proud of keeping good things going for a while and anniversaries is an easy/organized way to keep track of that.
Personally I agree with you, if you're in a happy relationship you should just enjoy it. If you feel the need to celebrate then just have a special date, or put the effort a celebration would need in just treating your partner even better.
But that's not how everyone works, some people really like (or need for sanity reasons) the ability to celebrate something.
