I tried this a long while back (like, over a year ago), and when the site transitioned, it died. Like a little fly. It completely died.
So anyway, it's time to try this again.

Actually Dueling in a Yu-Gi-Oh! RP
So . . . to actually start this off . . .
The RP begins well after the events of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V (Pronounced Arc-Five), and we return to New Domino City for the setting. Why New Domino? It's expansive and there's lots to do, not to mention it's practically the Duel Monsters capital of the world. After being beaten out by the cities of Heartland and Maiami in the development of new Summoning methods (Xyz and Pendulum respectively), New Domino has once again claimed its dominance when KaibaCorp and its subsidiaries developed the Ignis Summon, much to the dismay of their biggest rival company, Leo Corporation.
What is Ignis Summon? It is a Summoning technique using the new Ignis Monster, which resides in a player's Extra Deck. Ignis Monsters are unique in that, rather than focusing on Level as Synchro, Xyz, and Pendulum Monsters do, they focus on ATK and DEF for the Summon. Example Ignis Monster Summoning Conditions: "2 or more monsters (ATK)" & "2 or more monsters (DEF)". What's the significance? An Ignis Monster is Summoned by sending monsters from the field to the Graveyard whose total combined ATK or DEF is equal to that of the Ignis Monster in its required field. The required field is symbolized by the contents of the parenthesis in its Summoning Condition, which typically aligns with the Ignis Monster's higher point value. Like most other monsters, Ignis Monsters have a Level, though this is usually unimportant to the monster's Summon.
This ability to combine a monster's points puts an end to the age-old struggle of "If I could just combine my monsters' ATK, I could win." Do note, however, that just as Synchro, Xyz, and Pendulum Summons are effected by Level changes, Ignis Summon is as well, so the two monsters "Twin-Headed Behemoth" and "Divine Dragon Ragnarok" could both be used for the Ignis Summon of two completely different monsters, all based on whether "Behemoth" has had its points reduced by its own effect. (2500 ATK monster if it has, 3000 ATK monster if it hasn't) An example of an Ignis Monster can be found below.
Another mechanic that should be mentioned is the Synchro add-on mechanic of "Mono-Tuning", somewhat akin to how "Contact Fusion" was an add-on to Fusion. "Mono-Tuning" is simple. Via the effect of a Tuner monster, the effect of a Synchro Monster, or a Synchro Monster's Summon Condition, it is now possible to Synchro Summon using a Tuner Monster as the only Synchro Material, just as long as its Level was the same as that of the Summoned Synchro Monster.
With Turbo Dueling, Speed Spell Cards such as "Speed Spell - Mystical Space Typhoon" or "Speed Spell - Monster Reborn" or other such Spell Cards which were copies of pre-existing Spell Cards with added Speed Counter requirements should be considered nonexistent. Creating your own Speed Spells, however, will be allowed within reason (rules on card creation below). Therefore, no one will be using "Pot of Greed" in Turbo Duels. I promise.
Finally, we come to the explanation on fan-made cards. As there are new Summon mechanics, what would their point be if there weren't cards to go along with them? And since Konami isn't making them for us, guess who gets to make the cards? Us! That's right, we get to have fun and design our own Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Of course, they should be fair and within reason. That doesn't mean everyone gets Level 12 monsters to compensate for their uber points and titanic effects. That means that you design a Deck that is befitting of something from Konami.
HOWEVER! We will be following the most current forbidden/limited listings with some corrections. Nothing will be removed from the list, but things will be added, such as certain anime/manga-exclusive cards, and some cards that we create. I retain the right to not only veto cards if I feel it necessary, but also to place fan-made cards where appropriate on the ban-list, if necessary. I should hope it wouldn't be, but one can never be certain. Some cards, if I feel uncertain about them, we may have a vote for the ban-list. Where it lands is based on the majority ruling.
That being said, even if your card(s) land on the ban-list, you still get a chance to use it. All passed cards have a grace period of one week before judgment is passed on whether they are fair enough to stay off of the ban-list. In addition, each Deck is allowed to contain ONE copy of ONE forbidden card, so even after that grace period, you may still be able to continue use.
If you want samples, I have around 200 cards I've made that I'll be posting when the OOC comes around.
I realize that seems to be a lot of rules, but hey, we're playing a card game here. Card games have got rules.
Now for Character Sheets. I'm looking for the basic stuff you'd find in a CS. You know, tell me where your person is from, what they're like, show me what they look like, etc. PM me a Deck list to go with it. You can keep your cards private between you and me until they are used In-Character. One thing I expect from the players though, is to have dynamic Character Sheets. What does this mean? It means that as you introduce cards to the IC thread, you build your card list on your CS. Then, as important events or changes with your character occur, you update your CS accordingly.
You may begin getting an idea for your CS together now, but DO NOT POST IT OR PM DECK LISTS TO ME YET. Wait until the OOC is up and you have a deeper understanding of the setting. One thing is that this RP will be a bit darker than normally seen in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, but I still don't want blatant sexual action, drug abuse, graphic violence, etc. evident in the IC. If you have such moments, keep it in the PMs where the public won't see it. In fact, I don't even want to see the words "fade to black". Just cut the scene out at an appropriate moment before the action occurs. That way no one knows anything happens except those involved.
Another thing is that we have a few new sub-Areas within New Domino that were not there before, so I don't want you guys jumping any guns. Wait for the full story before you go nuts. The only reason I'm not posting it now is because this is getting rather long and I don't want to dwell on typing something up for an Interest Check if no one wants in on it. Seems like it'd be a waste of time. That, and I'm getting sleepy.
I'm also asking for something a little strange with this RP. I'll need some people to fill two different roles. I need the hero and the hero's sidekick. You know, like Yugi and Joey, or Jaden and Syrus, or Yusei and Crow, except new characters of course. The hero needs to fill the following requirement with his/her Deck, or rather, Extra Deck: 1 Level 7-8 Ignis Monster with 2500 ATK and 2100 or 2000 DEF and a decent effect. (If you need help, contact me, as I actually have a sample ready) The hero should also extensively use the Ignis Mechanic. Also, the hero's name (first or last makes no difference to me) should begin with the syllable "Yu" as is tradition among Yu-Gi-Oh! heroes. (Yugi, Jaden Yuki, Yusei, Yuma, Yuya)
I will be fulfilling the role of the big rival, like Kaiba or Jack, again using a big Dragon-Type, this time an Ignis Monster. This character's name shall be Valin Rotor, and his key card will actually be the card I used for the Ignis Monster sample above: Volspire Dragon. For whoever fulfills the sidekick role, I'm not worried about what you do for a name or monsters other than asking you to keep your signature card's ATK somewhere in the vicinity of 2400 to 2800, excluding the value of 2500.
Okay, last (short) thing and I'll shut up. I'm asking that players try to design their key cards themselves, as this should essentially be treated as a new series.
That's it. I really hope that if you stuck with me all the way through that, that it means you're interested.
