According to legend, King Solomon had knowledge of how to bind the spirits of the dead and demons, using this power in life to build the temple, among other things.

In the lore of this RP, he formed a group of priests and prophets, giving them the knowledge of how to do this via his book The Key of Solomon. Over the years it was expanded on, first containing spells for binding Angels (though it was forbidden by any but the priests and prophets), then during the Roman Empire, Elementals and lesser gods of other religions. During the 13th century the priests learned to trap Fae.
Usually the bindings were done to usable items, Weapons, armor, or tools at first, though in the 14th century people started binding them to stationary objects such as walls or rocks. In the 16th century, the Renaissance caused many to study the ancient magical traditions of other people, leading to the use of rune stones, and in the early eighteenth century the first use of paper cards occurred when a priest in Ireland bound the spirit of a pixie to a healing spell written on a torn off book cover.
We are members of that order, having studied from a young age to learn the secrets to binding spirits. We use them to fight off the spirits of darkness, including the other orders of magic users around the world. Our Order is run by the Council of Priests and the Council of Prophets, with us taking orders from whichever branch we choose to follow. The Council of Priests works to spread good will to the people and to keep the common man safe from, and oblivious to the world of the spirits. The Council of Prophets work to seek out other, heretical, Magical Orders and to wage a holy Crusade against them. While keeping the two Councils distinct worked well in ancient times, in more modern times people spend their early days (until they've well established themselves as a valuable member of the Order) taking orders from either branch.
On our first mission, however, we will learn a terrible truth about the Order, and will have to decide for ourselves if we should stay.

Binding Types:
(Spiritual beings must have energy from the physical world in order to affect it, and Physical beings must have power from the spirit world in order to effect it. Luckily, humans have both a spiritual and physical aspect to them, letting them work in both realms with enough training.)
1) Permanent: The spirit is imprisoned. They will fight to free themselves if the one who holds them is not strong enough to make it utterly futile to fight back. When forming one of these bindings, you usually have to defeat the spirit in combat and make it submit to your will before binding it, or the binding will fail. (banned for use with angels, except the Fallen ones.)
2) Temporary: A spirit is tied to a single spell or a single-use magical item, which uses their power to perform it. This may anger a spirit, but unless you make a habit of angering them, they usually won't bother with you. (Only used with non-fallen angels with the permission of one of the councils.)
3) Bonds of Friendship: A spirit likes you so much that they don't need to be contained, just tied to the physical plane and given your energy in order to work for you.

Magic types:
(Humans learn to manipulate both planes of existence through their studies.)
1) Holy: The power of God and the Angels. Used for Purification, exorcism, and healing.
2) Corrupt: The power of Satan and his fallen angels. Used for putrification/corruption, enslaving/possession, and poisoning/cursing.
3) Elemental: The power of nature. It has many uses, though they change depending on the type of Element you are manipulating.
4) Corporeal: The power of the body, sometimes called Ki. Used to enhance the body, though can be used to alter the nearby world through the use of the body's physical energy.
5) Psychic: The power of the mind. Uses include telekinesis, telepathy, spirit work, and communicating with other corporeal beings (ie, animals)
6) Primal: Sometimes called Old Magic, it manipulates the primal forces of reality, making even space and time bend to the will of the user. Rarely studied by humans, as it could take decades to learn to properly manipulate even the simplest of primal forces. Many "deities", especially those known as "The Elder gods" use this form of magic, though the only way to bind them is the bond of friendship after you swear yourself to them.
7) Sorcery: Channeling energy or a power from one source, generally nature or a bound spirit, and using it for your own work. The binding needed for this is a bit more difficult, as you need to allow for their power to go to you if you will it.
8) Summoning: Giving physical form to a bound or summoned spirit. It uses much of your physical energy to perform this feat, and all physical energy used by the summoned being comes from the summoner.

Personality: Brave, Loyal, Strong, all of these have been used to describe Aaron. But the one word always used to describe him is OCD, with a tinge of ADHD. Bound Angel: (Bond of Friendship.) Summons an angel to assist him.
Basic Consecration:Creates a Consecrated Circle around a small area.
Basic Healing: Heals small wounds.

Favorite Magical types: Holy, Summoning

Magical Items: The Kabalah (Jewish Mystic Spell Book.), A Roman Gladius with Gorgon Blood on it, A cross necklace with Celtic Writing on it. (Used for unknown purposes as of yet.) Summon: Man of Valor (Uses it for guarding doorways when going through people's crap.)

Magical Enhancements: The Kabalah (He learns spells from it.). A dagger owned by St George. (A Non-magical Item, but it was owned by a St, so why the heck not?)

Non-Magical items: A Covert Smartphone, Dagger, HAZMAT suit, Armored Duster, A Visa Black Card, A D&D Figurine he always carries with him.

Background: He came from a Very religious Family. He showed Aptitude in Magic, His family thought he was in league with the devil. He was sent to a Monastery, And then to a Medical School where he showed great power at healing, and was given an early doctorate. where the Government Found him. After working a few Jobs with the CIA and CDC, The Prophets found him and recruited him into the order.He now works small missions for The CIA< but mainly works for the prophets. (CIA explains the ViSA Black Card, CDC The HAZMAT suit.)

Personality:Jackson enjoys the simple things. Time with friends, a good drink, one night stands, and his favorite thing to do, fight. He has always been the type to start stuff with people he doesn't know, and especially with people he doesn't like. Generally, however, he tries to keep that in check when on missions or during serious situations.

Skills:Knife and swordplay skills are very good, and his many years of street fighting have given him a good intuition and reaction time in combat. He is also marginally good at stealth, and you'll have a hard time finding a better pickpocket than him. He sometimes uses magic to assist him in those skills, but most of the time it's just his own personal skill at it.

Favorite magical types:Elemental, Corporeal, Sorcery

Spells:
Hunter's grace(Corporeal): A spell that allows one to have near perfect balance, alike a jungle cat.

Shadow Bomb(Sorcery): A elemental spell in which Jackson lobs an orb of shadows at his enemy. Upon making contact with a physical object, the orb explodes into a dark mist. disorienting those inside. The elemental power of fear can be add in to cause those inside to hallucinate, but it can be rather draining

Summoning Aphosis: A rather taxing spell, and one of last resort, it allows Jackson to summon Aphosis through his sword to attack his enemies. Aphosis, being a spirirt of Drakness and the Fear of the Predators that reside in it, can take the shape of many animals that hunt at night, like wolves and hyeneas for example. He could do more, but jackson is not at that level to support those abilities with out keeling over. They share a bond of friendship, which shall be explained in the background.

Fear inducement(Sorcery): A spell that strikes fear in Jackson's enemies, making them flee in terror in his presence. Only works on mages of his level and below, with the weaker mages fleeing in terror, and the stronger ones only being unnerved by him.

Spear of the Shadowed Night(Sorcery): A spear made of pure shadow and fear, harms not the flesh of those it hits, but the mind. It slowly corrupts the foundation of their sanity, until they go mad. A spell with the long term in mind, very tiring, used mostly on strong enemies that he expects to see again. But since those enemies are stronger than him, the spell has a chance of not working.

Shadow shards(Sorcery):A mixed range spell, it allows Jackosn to form and manipulate shards of solid shadow to use as a weapon, either for rapid, low damage close range attacks, or powerful, but slow to charge long range shots.

Magical Items: A blade that stands that connects Aphosis to this plane, has a black blade and can shift into 3 forms: Katana, Longsword, and Dual Serrated Knives. He also has an amulet which was also gifted to him by Aphosis, allowing Jackson to manipulate shadows to help him say hidden when stealth is need. Conceals nearly all traces of his presence.

Non-magical items:Smartphone, Brass Knuckles, Cigarettes, a special Laptop with a satellite uplink, so it is always connected to the internet, when asked how he got it, he tells people 'I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.' He says this with such seriousness that most people leave him alone.

Magical Enhancements:Marks of the First Hunter: Given to him by Aphosis, these marks enhance Jacksons endurance, strength, senses, and tracking skills. Takes the mark of a jungle cat tattoo running across the whole of his back.

Backstory:Jackson was your average troublemaker, always getting into fights, pulling pranks, and just being an over all nuisance. But the one think that sets him apart from others was that he always felt like he was being watched. It followed him all through out his life, feeling especially intense when ever he got into fights. It wasn't until one day, when he was 16 years old, that he would find out. That was the day that a heretical order kidnapped him from his home and forced him to learn magic. The reason, they wished to bind the spirit that seemed to be connected to him, watching him from beyond the veil, and to do that they needed him to summon it. So it was that he learned the skills needed to summon the spirit, and in only a year as he seemed to have a hidden talent for it. When the time came, he did summon the spirit, but he made sure to leave out a certain part of the spell that kept the being contained. So it broke out, quickly overwhelming his captors in a wave of shadow.

Afterwards, it took a form that looked exactly like him and held out it hand. Seeing no reason not to, he took it and the spirit surged forth into Jackson, leaving behind it's mark and the blade he now uses. Shortly after, a collection of priest came in, only to see all the heretics dead, and him unconscious, with the blade in his hand. When he awoke, Jackson was given two options, be executed on grounds of heresy, or join the order. He took the obvious choice, and hasn't looked back ever since.

Also, primal magic has to do with the primordial universe, and how the universes are formed/exist. Hence the space/time powers.

Primal animal/behavior type stuff would be corporeal, or maybe sorcery if you are tying yourself to an animal spirit. Shadows is generally elemental (darkness), and fear could be elemental (emotion) or telepathy.

I wanted to make a primal guy if thats ok, if anything is too overboard or i fucked up somehow ill try to fix it asap.

Personality: Cole is selfish, and rude. He enjoys the company of others although often drives them away with his inability to care too much about others. This isn't to say he can't make friends, but rather he just does a terrible job at it sometimes. However, he is very diligent when it comes to work. He throws himself into his studies and tries to understand what he wants to learn.

Skills: Competent researcher.

Favorite magical type: Primal. Corrupt.

Spells:

Time Bend - Can alter Time's flow on inanimate objects and enhance/weaken certain properties. For example, he could throw a knife and slow it down mid-air, however it would still cut if you ran into it even if it wasn't moving fast. Or he could weaken time's grasp on it when it comes to gravity, and gravity's effects wouldn't be as strong overtime so the knife could be thrown much farther and still hit as if it was thrown from only a yard away

Wicked Blast - Blast that Corrupts holy spirits, or damages them if it can't defile them.

Depraved Control - Grants The user control of any corrupt/evil spirits that are weakened enough (Unless they are already under the control of someone)

Sinful Soul - Sends in any Spirits currently under his control to possess a nearby corporal being.

Magical Items:

Black Jeweled Ring - Allows him enhanced Primal magic strength.

Debauched Stone - A multi-color Y-shaped stone that allows easier access to any wicked beings mind.

Non-magical items: A Small .22 with one extra clip. A smartphone and his debit card.

Magical Enhancements: Mark of the abyss - An Elder Gods mark left on his body that allows him to learn certain Primal Magics at an enhanced speed.

Backstory: An Primal-eccentric researcher who loves to go out on field expeditions. Born to a family within the prophets, it was only natural, and somewhat forced, that he would join them as well. He had no real complaints though, its hard to not want to join the prophets if you knew nothing but them. Has attained a 'friendship' with an Elder god, due to the god's interest in Cole. This friendship has allowed him to learn some of beginning time-aspects of Primal magic along the corrupt he has been learning as well.

Tyrant: He doesn't seem like the kind of character that the Prophets would like too much, especially with the ability to corrupt spirits, and his dealing with Elder gods. The family ties would probably keep him in the organization, but he'd be a kind of black sheep that they kept an eye on.
That said, the Council of Prophets are a political body and therefore at least some of them are probably not the ideal members of the Order they pretend to be.
