Backstory:

Perry was born in the small Humpty Doo, Australia to a single mother who had obtained her son through a sperm bank. Martha, grateful for the child, raised him alone as she worked at the hotel in Humpty Doo, hoping to eventually raise enough to move to a larger city where he would have the opportunity to see and do more. However, it became a pipe dream after Martha lost he job, leaving her begrudged and poor - and eventually losing her son to relatives who didn't want to see the boy drop his future. Martha continued looking for a job, and though she was allowed to visit her son, they eventually began to grow apart due to distance. They continued to write, however, and still do. Perry was a bit of a fighter; scrappy and sullen, he was most often fund picking gum off the bottom of the desk in detention. There was no subject he was particularly good at besides shop and the wrestling classes in physical education. His teachers often insisted there was a hidden brain behind that, but if there was, they were never successful in finding it. His shop teacher, however, was delighted, claiming that Perry had a way with metal. Perry discovered his ability at the age of 15, average for what many of his peers had where he ended up. He had been working on a project in his Year 10 shop class, heating metal with a blowtorch. After he removed his glove, Perry accidentally touched the metal - and found it cool. In fact, after a few moments, the metal started melting where his arm made contact. He never told anyone else, but in private practice, he found he was able to melt things up to even the thickest steel with his skin alone. However, Perry kept getting into fights, and once, losing control, he severely burned a boy's arm (most thought with a hot brand or something similar). While lucky enough to escape juvenile detention, Perry was expelled and given 200 hours of community service. It wasn't long before he got the letter from Verona Academy claiming him to come and hone his talent in metalwork. Verona had a strong reputation despite the fact that people knew very little about it, and the family he lived with - his aunt and her new husband - were happy to see their charge out of their care and in another school. Perry was shipped off - and there he found Verona's secret as an academy for the more "gifted". A place where Perry could learn and understand his talent. Perry was popular among the students, though he fell in with a group who called themselves the "Visionaries". Here he met his closest friends Oliver, Davis, and Katja, and he spent a lot of time causing some rabble with their combined talents. Davis was his very best; his ability to control steam and other vapours was most entertaining when Perry was heating up the water supplies and it became common for toilets to explode through their joint efforts. Perry also briefly dated Katja, which infuriated Oliver, who was interested in her. It created somewhat of a divide between those two, and Oliver never quite forgave Perry. Perry was in his Year 12 year when the attack on Verona occurred by another student with the help of another organization. While he and the majority of the Visionaries survived, as well as a great number of students, Oliver was lost trying to save Katja, who ended up in a coma. Blaming himself for Oliver's demise, Perry tried to move on, completing a trade in welding. While he eventually did absolve himself of all responsibility, he avoided the other Visionaries, many of whom were now attempting to track down the student and organization that had done this. For now, Perry continues to live as a simple welder. Perhaps one day he will rejoin with his old group, but for now, he is satisfied without adventure or further loss.

Abilities:

Red-handed: Perry can heat his body up hot enough to melt steel - about 1500 degrees Celsius. This melts or burns anything near to him (25m) severely, including burning off anything he is holding or wearing. Emotional outbursts, especially anger, will cause him to lose control of this ability and it will flare up, possibly causing harm to allies or others near Perry. However, when fully in control, he can use the ability to light things on fire. I Ain't Even Hot/Cold: Perry can withstand heat up the point he can melt it. He also has a high body temperature, making him quite the furnace for the ladies. ;) Because of this, Perry can withstand temperatures of up to -100 degrees Celsius without heating himself, and even further after that. Focus Pocus: Perry can focus the majority of the heat into a particular part of his body, increasing its heat to 2000 degrees Celsius. Glow: Perry can make his body glow a yellowish-white, visible from nearly 70m away. He can also project the light from his body; for example, he could use his hand much like a flashlight. However, Perry's body will eventually begin to heat based on the intensity of the light, so he has to be careful.
