I went 2-0 in five matches in a row and so I won Friday Night Magic for my first time last night. Then I played booster draft afterwards and won my pod, going 2-0 three more times. It's a pretty big deal for me. I'll probably never do that well again in a single day.

Apparently my brother became the #8 mtg player in the US? I'm hazy on what i was told (i think they were mistaken coz i looked up the rankings), but he's been killing it in tournaments.

If he's been playing in the Pro Tour this weekend then that might be accurate. Otherwise he probably just got top 8 in a big tourney, which is still impressive. How old is your brother? This is actually pretty interesting but you probably don't know many details or want to give out his name.

I played with my friends a bit.... I had a blue called 'The Dick Deck.' It would always win, sure, but it was the *way* you win. Burning cards and resetting the field and tossing his hand every time he smiled. It was pure unadulterated dickery, and it was wonderful.

That's sweet. I opened up one in my second pack. And then I opened a second one a few packs and a week later. I never get that lucky. Mine have since been traded away, but if you plan on using that bad boy in a deck, make sure you have enough Frontier Siege to get him out. Other nonland mana sources might suffice, but you really shouldn't plan on playing him wih nothing but 8 lands.

I used to play MtG a lot in high school, haven't had the chance to continue in university. My friends were also all blue-is-the-devil and loathed playing against my Merfolk deck, but they gave in largely because I almost never won. I build my decks to screw with people, not to win, which was good seeing as they had all the newest overpowered cards and I was stuck using mostly old cards—some of which were really good, but power levels have increased notably.

I agree, my friend runs an infect deck. Turn 3 and I was dead :/ 0-10 in one attack
