So to put my money where my mouth is, I'll start contributing decent posts. Plus I always love talking about music.

What kind of minimalist or instrumental music do you guys get into?

This one right here is my classic favorite:

When you say minimalist, what exactly do you mean? Like a solo instrument or what?

Really anything that qualifies as minimalist music. It's music that tends to be kind of spartan on production, lacking vocals, and sort of repetitive in some places. Philip Glass is a notable example, along with Michael Nyman (composed the Gattaca score, one of my favorites), Arvo Part (had a song used in one of the famous trailers for Gravity), and anyone else who is composing original music from the 80s on up that sounds like it could run in the same crowd as classical pieces.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's a very vaguely defined genre and I'm not 100% on what defines it.

and also now that I'm thinking about it Danger Mouse does good minimalist stuff too (most of it is actually not with Jack White, but he's cool too):

Am I cool yet?

Can't much more simpler than maybe a couple large horns and a few monks saying the same thing over and over.
