So there are a lot of Roleplays about Zombies or the apocalypse out there, but almost every single one that I have seen is about random groups of survivors that are more OP and knowledgeable about weapons and killing than any group of normal people should be. But that can be addressed. The other problem that almost every single Apocalypse movie, book, Roleplay, or well anything really. The government shuts down, military gets scattered, the people give up, and everything goes to hell. Well, there’s always a little bit of hope for everyone, Right? I personally think that at least for awhile there would be some semblance of a military. That’s what we’re going to have during this.

Basic Idea: The year is 2023, in the year 2020 a virus of unknown origin swept across the world. The virus attacks the systems of the infected, killing them within days. Once dead, the virus alters the body systems of the host, adapting it for it’s own use. When fully adapted, the “corpse” rises again to hunt, kill, survive, and spread the virus.
Operation Phoenix Down is the US military’s last attempts at keeping/returning what small amount of civilization that is remaining to the rightful owners, humanity. At least for the first bit, or unless we need to let other people join, characters will be part of a taskforce that was created when the first outbreaks began. Characters will have come from all branches of the Military, the best of the best. Current base of operations is a series of oil rigs off the coast of the Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey area. The Oil rigs were locations predetermined by The Taskforce, the organization that the government created years before to deal with any possible global biological threats and part of that preparation included the possibility of a biological based weapon that causes the phenomenon that is “Zombies.” The bases are well equipped with weapons, food, supplies, the oil that is brought up keeps the generators running. It has been three years since the initial outbreak. Contact with other countries was lost in the first three months. The major cities in the US were destroyed by the Military while it was still effective. They were under specific orders not to, but The Taskforce wasn’t taken seriously by the other military officials. Within months the major military bases were overrun. The capital was lost between the bombings and the “zombies” The government lost its power, all semblance of society was destroyed. America’s fighting chance went to shit, everything but the oil rigs and whatever resistance that the citizens could put up. The CDC’s operations all across the Americas shut down as they were overrun. Again, everything but the oil rigs. The scientists on the rig Codenamed Phoenix are the last working on finding out what happened and on how to stop or cure the virus.
Infected:
-Walkers or Shamblers
-Runners
-Screamers
-Brutes
-Stalkers
-(Any ideas, holla at me)
(I have descriptions of each and if this gains enough support/interest I can post the OOC, a lot of it is already complete)
Technology- Before the year 2020 the technology of a ground soldier hasn’t progressed much past where it is now.
Military technology
Hud display visors/goggles/glasses do exist.
Communication has been adapted for ease, a microphone is imbedded in the hyoid bone and a receiver is implanted into the mastoid bone. Subvocalization (basically when you silently read or think some words there is a theoretical process that you make the tiniest of movements of your vocal cords, inaudible, but able to be picked up by a sensitive microphone) is possible and every single military personnel is capable of it.
Bullet proofing technology has advanced, but not a whole lot.
OLED devices exist. Mainly forearm mounted computers.
Weapon technology is mainly the same, I can go further into the changes to bullets (coatings on bullets are more common, but there are no "smart" bullets or anything like that) and things, but only if people want me to.

Basically I want to find a good group of no more than 4 or maybe 5 people. I've found that smaller Roleplays are better. High casual.

Glad to see a little interest. I have the ooc already done but I'm not going to post it unless we get some more people who want to join, otherwise I'll just wait a couple weeks and try again.
