Well, @ManiacMaestro, it really does start with an organized Intrest check. Your first impression has to be neat and appealing, and don't try to be desperate. Instead of constantly bumping your ICs, like some people do, just wait it out. People will come if your first impressions are understandable, organized, and interesting.

@ManiacMaestro It also helps if you have a good idea and a catchy title. A catchy title to get interest, a decent idea to keep it.

Honestly, roleplay in other people's roleplays. Show that you are competent, that you know how to RP in their style, and build up a clique. The reason so many people are making RP's that are ghost towns is that everyone is making RP's rather than joining them.

@GodOfWar OK thank you for the advice, and I usually do proofread everything i type several times over, and if people are really so desperate that they repeatedly post over and over and things of that nature, that is always what the spam forums are for. (which surprises me me that some people would actually do that and yet at the same time it doesn't, considering this is probably one of the best sites. What's more the people Iv'e here are are good individuals who are helpful and are not craving attention like teenagers on YouTube or something. But Thanks again for your post and coincidentally, your signature is kind of what inspired me to create this thread . I haven't seen anyone "advertise" an RP on here by their signature. And For a while always wondered Why Nobody wanted to join a fresh game. seems easier to start from the beginning than reading through several post to know what's happening but, that's just me.

Formatting, formatting, formatting.

Easiest, and I can't stress enough, but the easiest way to generate some interest. You want to catch someone attention in seconds and having things clear to read and in paragraphs with colourful headings, dot points and a clear indication of what will be expected in the RP can improve your chances of people joining so easily.

Best part of all is that it requires little effort.

One of my roleplays
When I created this roleplays the interest check went psycho with people wanting to enter. I only wanted two people but ended up asking for PM submission of character sheets to choose the best for what we needed. So we had it all set up even before starting the true RP, and I believe a lot of was due to the ease of relaying information.

building a group of friends to RP with whom you can rely upon to join your RPs is very useful, but not always easy to do. But to do that, you'll either have to have luck when joining RPs, or be good at recruiting, which often benefits from the former already being achieved. This, of course, is a paradox.

If you wish to do it in that last order, we recommend looking in the guide section for an IntCK/OoC guide. We know there's at least one good one by HeySeuss there.

If you can get a couple of friends to join, or just people you've RP'd with before, it makes everything seem a lot easier because you know what to expect.

When attracting new people, it's already been said, but a catchy title and fun formatting helps. It shows you've put effort into it. Personally, I tend to get overwhelmed when there's a mountain of information in the Interest Check so I try to summarize the main idea in a short, easy-to-read paragraph and then list any extra details/information/background in a hider. Also I keep any important information (meaning anything you might want to be constantly referencing such as accepted characters and world building info) in neat categories in the OP of the OOC to cut down on confusion and answering unnecessary questions.
