I want to know, have any of you used any sort of map or boards in your RPs ( probably most common in tabletop Role-plays)
during combat, or dungeon exploration or whatever situation you/other characters were in. I just wanna Know

We often use imagery in our RPs, @ManiacMaestro. Most often, 3D models custom-made for the RP in question. You can see examples in the RP we've got linked in our signature.

@ManiacMaestro Maps are very common, mostly in table top roleplays. There are also quite a few in nation RPs as to know where territory is.

It's basically a requirement for NRP so you know where someone's polity is in relation to another's, and what sort of geography you - or another - might have.

Though I am often irked by all the maps torn generically from DeviantArt as much as I am pissy about maps made sloppily in MSPaint.

Well more-so the MS paint maps where it's a literal blob thrown down with no imagination. Like a six year old tried to draw a map of an island.

with excessive work, you can create good stuff in paint, but the same good stuff can be created in a fraction of the time in more advanced programs. Paint is decent for the very basics, but when it comes to complexity and user-friendly UI, it is severely lacking.

I've only really seen a map used in 1 RP, but that was because it was more of a collective of countries with people from each. (Wasn't really a nation RP either)

I could see a map being generated later on for an RP using the information that was given in the IC, but unless it's a large scale RP it may not even be necessary.

It really depends on what you want to do with the map. Paint is pretty easy to fill, so if you make a simple map where you can just paint in the lines, it'll do.

Which is useful, because you could give me the most high-dollar art equipment out there and I will still produce paint quality shit. Some of us just cannot art.
