A thread where we post or write some hellacious HFY stories.
In a fantasy or sci-fi setting with more than one self aware species, the others are either humanoid or non-humanoid, doesn't matter, the humans are basically a race of action heroes; practically unkillable organic terminators with a sense of righteous justice and the eye for an eye mind-set. Humans journey out into the vast unknown and come across a contact species (usually elves in fantasy, usually insectoids in sci-fi) and that species will do what they usually do: attempt to eradicate the inferior being. Humans don't take kindly to this, so they go in and wreck all sorts of shit, or they don't and instead create an even bigger problem. That bigger problem is usually the identification of a racial ability (humans immune to magic, can make things immune to magic, are anti-magic and cancel it out) or learn about something that can bring them back even harder (securing a piece of tech that advances them far beyond their current boundaries, learning the secret to power armor, or intervention from a species that has a grudge against the entire universe). No matter the consequences, humanity as a whole is fucking awesome and everyone either fears them or what they can do.
