Appearance & Usual Attire
Akito is on the shorter side of average height, coming in at about 5′5″ ( roughly 165 cm ). He tends to look much smaller than he actually is due to being startlingly thin in particular. He is lean and wiry, most of his muscle mass centered toward his legs and arms. He takes great care in his personal appearance, grooming and, in general tends to be a bit of a neat freak. This is the kind of guy who keeps a specific place for all of his belongings.
Akito has a fair number of piercings: matching snake bites below his lip, a small one in the corner of his nose, and a multitude of studs and cuffs along both ears. There are a number of larger earrings he tends to wear on just one ear, such as moons, crosses, anchors and other nautical and astrological symbols. While he does have an interest in oceanic type things, most other symbols are vain and purely just for aesthetic.
Speaking of aesthetic, he’s the king of it. Fashion and personal grooming had become a bit of a coping mechanism growing up, so he got pretty good at it. He is drawn towards a sort of sleek punk look, the palette of most of his outfits are primarily white and black and, he tends towards more gothic accessories.
When he goes hunting, he always wears a mask derived from an animal skull. Primarily things with antlers. Given that his method of reaping does not produce a significant amount of blood, he tends to wear all white. He isn’t mourning them, after all.His mark of death is on his neck, on the right side below the corner of his jaw.Relations:
Akito does not favor Reapers, nor does he favor Humans. Nor is he affiliated with any faction aside from himself and his own morally questionable flavor of vigilante justice. His goal is to take apart people that he notices to be abusive through any means necessary as a way of purging the world from people he believes to be irredeemable. These witch hunts in general, are focused towards saving children from homes that he has noticed to be damaging or highly neglectful. Though he does not turn a blind eye to cases of domestic abuse or bullying, either.
He does not believe that people who do these things can learn from their actions, or can change for the better. It’s his right to give them an escape by removing these harmful people from existence so that they won’t be able to do harm again.
Despite his good intentions, he often ends up leaving the victims he saves in a state of unresolved conflict, mourning, displacement or even with more trauma than before. After all, it is very easy for the person he is advocating for to walk into the murder scene when he is reaping their abuser in their own home. Children who are orphaned by these killings are often caught in the foster system or in orphanages, some ending up in an unhealthy and unfamiliar environment.
But he truly believes that what he is doing is right and, is extremely reluctant to change that view. He believes that the legal system lets too many people fall through the cracks and, if someone doesn’t advocate for these people then who will?
As for dealing judgment, he is as brutal as he sees fit. The commonality in his punishments however, is that he tends to seize the person’s mind by grabbing their head and forcibly making them review a timeline of deeds they did before taking their soul. Think of it as announcing the ‘charges’, but instead of trial one goes straight to the execution line. Occasionally he will make mistakes, wrong assumptions and slaughter the completely innocent. A spouse who had a particularly heated argument their significant other may fall under the axe.Physical Strength: 3/10
Fairly low, due to his lack of body mass or physical strength in general. While he is capable in avoiding holds and dodging, having had practice of writhing around enough to avoid being grabbed, he is rarely able to get out of a strong person’s hold.
The only thing he really has to his advantage physically is being able to pop his joints out of place and escape things like ropes and cuffs. Squeezing into tight places and crawling through tight spaces is also a specialty. He’s an amateur escape artist in that sense. But fighting hand to hand? Forget it.Mental Strength: 6/10
While he definitely has an edge in the mental powers department, his abilities have some serious drawbacks. First of all, as far as psychics go his powers are actually not all that comprehensive, and kind of wimpy. In order to connect with a person at all, he has to be able to touch them. So if his hands are tied up or he’s pushed off it just simply will not work.
As a person, Akito is not exactly the definition of "mentally stable", so his control on his powers is amateur at best.Let’s Talk.
Harmless telepathy that requires a physical connection to work. Example: hand to shoulder or hand to hand contact.
Flashback.
Grabs hold of the victims head to drag them into an immersive hallucination, reviewing the misdeeds through the course of their life. This does not actually harm the person so much as it does stun them. It is very easily possible to push Akito out with enough mental fortitude. Think about Legilimency and Occlumency in Harry Potter. Except fighting the mental link is rather easy for anyone to do with enough determination.Outward personality:
Outwardly, Akito is best described as ‘jumpy’. This may be a result of the fact he is doing some pretty illegal stuff is accumulating a bit of a price tag on his head as his crimes become more and under the radar. Paranoid and guarded, he does not let people in easily and even when he does he usually pushes them away or fades out. He tends to try keeping his personality ‘muted’, or in a state of deadpan.
If someone gives him trouble or if he deems them to be an asshole, he’s not afraid to be standoffish and frank. He’s the kind of guy to tell someone in line that they’re being an asshole to the person in the customer service position and, maybe even pick a fight with them. It’s near impossible for him to look the other way at people being targeted or hurt by someone else. He just can’t do it.
Should he actually get to know someone and let them stay in his life, he’ll be very overprotective of them. A bit of his ‘true’ personality will start to show through, which is a rather playfully sarcastic. If it’s the right person, he’ll flirt a little for fun or text them really stupid videos. He’ll also put up with a lot of bullshit for the people he cares about and will go out of his way to help them with just about anything. It’ll take a while for that kind of trust to build, but the sweeter person the easier it is.Inward personality:
Akito has some serious trauma issues, including flashbacks and lots of unresolved baggage he tries to just sort of push under the carpet. It will take so, so much trust for him to even bring those issues to someone he lets in close. It’s stuff he definitely needs to talk to someone about, but absolutely refuses to. But the way that his father made him feel and the lasting damage from growing up in a hostile environment haunts him a lot more than he’ll ever actually let on.
He is so, so angry and feels things too intensely to be healthy. These anger issues usually sprout forth in saying crass and hurtful things to loved ones, picking fights and just… generally being an asshole. He holds grudges really easy and never forgets if someone hurts him, even after he’s ‘forgiven’ them.
He's paranoid, he's cynical and pingpongs between having a really high sense of self preservation to absolutely none whatsoever. His moods can change at the drop of a hat and he's just overall... not a very positive person.
But when he empathizes with people, he does so deeply will become self sacrificial to the ones he thinks deserve it. He’s a protector at heart, he's just arrogant and just makes some awful choices.Biography:
Akito Fujisawa was born “Mori Oshiro”, in Grim City to businessman Takao Oshiro and housewife Chihiro Oshiro. His twin sister, Yumi was his best friend up until his falling out with his family during his coming of age. They were a family that consisted entirely of Reapers, though they were as dysfunctional as any human family could have been.
Takao Oshiro was a man with a rather heavy drinking problem, and also had the tendency to be unfaithful despite his already established home life. But despite this, it was his prerogative to keep the family blemishes under wraps. Under his rule, they maintained a rather picture perfect impression to the outside world. A family of reapers who worked closely with hospitals, providing assisted suicide to those who were sick and willing and ready to die.
He enjoyed his job and preening his reputation as much as he enjoyed having affairs.
Eventually, however, the latter caught up with him. Chihiro eventually became fed up with turning a blind eye to it and ultimately, left to pursue a life without him. Having no reason to believe he’d be unfit to be a father, they split custody of the children. Akito lived primarily with his father, while Yumi lived primarily with her mother. Both children visited each other’s homes frequently, rather resentful of this arrangement as it was unstable, and their home environments were so drastically different from each other.
Akito, however, caught the brunt of his father’s aggression when they were alone. It started with verbal abuse and lectures on how humans were worthless slime, an opinion he did not bring to work with him, but brought home instead. The small Akito became a soundboard for his father’s prejudices, which he knew not to be true, because he’d met plenty of humans that were contrary to what his father said they were. Mouthy and outspoken even as a child, Akito contradicted him enough times to warrant physical abuse.
This started a cycle of undue punishment for misbehaving, even in cases of regular adolescent misbehavior. His father would lock him in his room without food, scream at him, threaten to do worse things should he tell anyone about it. Akito, frightened of the consequences of telling, hid his bruises very well even from his sister and mother.
This lasted until his late teens where, he retaliated and ultimately ended his father’s life in the process. One evening his father had come home drunk and elected to assault Akito in a stupor. Something in him just snapped and when he retaliated, he aimed to kill. Dazed, he hovered over the corpse, horrified at what he had done. So he did the only thing he thought he had the option to do.
He changed his name and ran as far his legs could take him, away from the family he used to know. Unable to face his mother and sister, he ceased contact with them, believing that it would be better that they didn’t get involved with a murderer. Alone and frightened, he was taken in by a woman named Rita, a worker from a nightclub called “The Underworld”, catering specifically to humans that fancy Reapers in particular.
She became like a second mother to him, helping him work through some of his trauma and also guiding him through the process of… disappearing. She helped him create a false ID and landed him a job as a bartender, which he keeps even to this day. Eventually, he became self sufficient enough to rent himself a small, crummy studio. He operates from there now, dealing out justice during the most still hours of the night.Occupation:
