@DarkRecon Accepted if @Scarifar is cool with you as his partner?

We've talked about it in private, I'm cool with it.
Ivan Barrett

Ivan sighed as he looked over all the paperwork on his desk. Various reports and documents cluttered the entire space, ranging from case histories to evidence documentation to scheduling work shift forms. Nose meets grindstone, Ivan thought to himself as he began organizing his workload, going through it bit by bit. Soon, documentation reached the proper files, officers were being assigned to areas that needed aid, and inspection reports were being approved. Ivan went through his work methodically and efficiently, ensuring each piece received proper attention. One unsolved case caught his eye: the Valentine Tragedy. A series of unfortunate events that led to the loss of Fae Valentine's entire immediate family. As he opened the folder up, a beeping alarm eventually went off on his watch, indicating it was time for a short break. Ivan simply turned it off, put down the file, and went off into the break room for a cup of joe. He figured he could use one to recharge himself. It was low-quality instant coffee, but he didn't feel the need to be picky.

Just as he poured himself a cup full, static suddenly burst from his radio, followed by an alert: “Robbery in progress at Nova City Bank. All units, respond. Suspects are still inside. Officer safety is a priority.” Ivan grunted. Those criminals just had to pick the worst of times. Quickly chugging down his coffee, he dropped his mug into the nearby sink and rushed outside. The once calm and slow workplace had turned into chaos. Officers were rushing to get themselves properly kitted up, and calls were buzzing in like crazy. Ivan also made his way over to the armory, gathering a few magazines for his service weapon and a riot shield. He slung it over his back, made sure his weapon was properly loaded. "Let's get there pronto, men! Lives are at stake!" Ivan said to everyone, who responded with a resounding, "Yes sir!"

As multiple police cars arrived at the scene, his included, everyone began rushing out and getting into formation. "Maintain formation. Keep civilians away from the premises, and prioritize safety," Ivan barked orders while transforming his body to take on a crystalline form. Ivan then made his way over to a couple of cops who were already at the scene. Officers Tate and Ramirez saluted at the sight of Ivan, but he gestured for them to stand down. "At ease. What are we dealing with here?" Ivan asked them. "Sir! We've been holding the perimeter, ensuring the safety of civilians and our fellow officers," Ramirez said. "Yes sir! Just following orders!" Tate chimed in. "Um, though at least a couple people did enter the building despite our best efforts. We already reported it through our radios." Ivan nodded. "I heard." Even now, there was chatter coming through about other metas making their way into the bank. Judging by their various appearances and lack of proper coordination, it was highly likely they were vigilantes. This was no time to stand back and allow chaos to unfold in the bank. Ivan grabbed his radio and spoke into it, "This is Lt. Ivan Barrett. Team, we initiate Operation: Vanguard." At once, various officers gathered behind Ivan, who now held out his riot shield at the ready, and together they proceeded into the building. The plan was to go in, find hostages, and evacuate them to safety while the "heroes and villains" fought each other.

I was planning to be a hero anyway, just gotta figure out exactly what.
I'm not really one for advanced, but I suppose I could give it a shot.
Gematria

Gematria crossed her arms and scoffed at Ada's response. Engaging in "movie-talk" was part of the fun of the hero-villain dynamic, and Ada was trampling all over it. "What's even the point then..." Gematria muttered to herself, kicking the ground absentmindedly. As Ada left, Gematria worried about Peterson's life. She had already figured out at least 3 different ways to escape the room she was in, but that would mean abandoning Peterson and Alchemist to their fate, and she wasn't going to do that. So there was little she could do but wait for the others to rescue them, and unfortunately, Ada would be expecting that to happen.

As Gematria was deliberating, a message popped up in her notifications. Opening it up, she could see that Stray had sent her a message. At first, she was elated. Her hero had come running to her rescue once again! Then confusion set in as she wondered what he was doing here. As far as he knew, he wasn't assigned to this mission. But she eventually dismissed that train of thought, not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth. She mentally typed a message, Safe. Ada and goons left, but still trapped. Status?, and sent the reply back to Stray. Gematria knew that help was inevitably going to come, but it was still good to confirm it with her own eyes.

Speaking of which, a particular individual had also managed to sneak her way in. Gematria was surprised to see Madison making her way in already, not expecting help to arrive so quickly. Gematria flashed her own thumbs up at her and made a cheerful expression on her face plate. If things were going this smoothly, everything might turn out a-ok after all.
Gematria

Gematria held the taser on Peterson for several seconds, only stopping after a couple rounds had been fired from his gun. She then moved to kick the gun away from his hand, then turned to Rupa. "You okay?" Gematria asked, but the sound of clapping behind Rupa was the answer she received. It was Ada Peterson, Sam Peterson's wife, and she had the two surrounded with her soldiers. Gematria froze, unsure of what to do now. Her mind raced furiously, trying to come up with a way to get them out of this situation. A few ideas did come to mind, but they were all exceptionally dangerous and did not have a guaranteed chance of success. When Ada began threatening Sam Peterson, Gematria realized that there really wasn't much of a chance for them to make it out, at least not if it meant keeping him alive. They were in a hostage situation, and Gematria didn't like it.

"You... you won't get away with this!" Gematria futilely sputtered out. Gematria didn't know what else to do, but she could only decide to follow Ada and her soldiers out of the room to who knows where. I then occurred to her that maybe she should inform the others about their current situation. Gematria quickly typed out a text message and sent it to everyone else on the mission via their Hero watches: Alchemist and I, hostage sitch. Peterson innocent. Wife Ada guilty. Help. She hoped it would be enough to relay what was going on.
Gematria

Gematria continued snooping through the laptop, finding little incriminating evidence. It seemed the little computer wasn't the gold mine she was expecting. But before she could decide on another course of action, she picked up a voice through the laptop's inbuilt microphone. It was a man's, that much was certain. Based on the where she was, though, and the few context clue words she got, the man was Peterson. The very man they were investigating. Fortunately, he didn't take much interest in her G.E.M. figure on his desk. There was another voice, too, which she recognized as Rupa. While Gematria wasn't sure what Rupa was doing here, she decided it was time to stop being in the laptop. There wasn't anything she needed in there anyway.

Returning to her G.E.M. figure, Gematria saw that Peterson had indeed returned to his office with Rupa in tow, and he was currently on the landline phone. His cell phone, however, was on the desk right next to her. An idea immediately formed in her mind, and she got to work. Pushing herself up, she looked at Rupa and held a finger to where her mouth would be, signaling to keep silent, then plugged herself into Peterson's cell phone. Then she Eletrosurfed into his phone and began snooping through it. Unfortunately, there was little that wasn't already known to HERO. There were a few investments to some company called "Michaels & Co. Contracting Corp", but that wasn't anything incriminating either. Peterson's landline phone call itself also had little value. Disappointed, Gematria returned to her G.E.M. figure and did her best to reposition herself back to how she originally looked on Peterson's desk.

And not a moment too soon, as Peterson concluded his call and began talking to Rupa about the film industry and whatnot. Gematria didn't really get much of the conversation, but she could tell he was passionate about it. Just as Gematria was beginning to believe this mission was a fruitless endeavor, Peterson suddenly began acting crazy. Gone was the jovial demeanor, replaced with all the hissing and twitching. It was like he was possessed or something, which he probably was. Gematria briefly wondered how that was even possible, but quickly shoved that train of thought aside when he pulled a gun onto Rupa.

"No!" Gematria exclaimed as she blasted herself towards "Peterson", boosted by the impact boosters in her legs, and extended her arms towards him. One hand was quickly replaced with a new addition to her arsenal: a thick, short, pointed taser head that zapped and crackled with electricity, meant to tase the man should she reach him in time.
