Fortifications OverviewZalera Mk XXVIII Dual Gun .79 Caliber Belt Fed Turret.
Number In Service: 400
With the rising threat of the skies, there was a great need to develop anti aerial warfare fortifications. And just so did the Skred provide. The Zalera, is a well armored turret system that has anti personnel, and aircraft capabilities when mounted on walls around the cities. Armed with two belt fed .79 Caliber rifles. Featuring extended length barrels for increased precision have devastating stopping power, and exceptional range. The only downside to this system is the high amount of maintenance needed to keep the guns in working order. And the notable fact that jams are frequent when the trigger is held down non stop, a common occurrence when a skred is trying to saw something in the air into shrapnel.
Mateus Mk LV Anti Aircraft ArtilleryNumber In Service: 200
Also developed in the need to provide anti-air weaponry, the Mateus is a definite improvement in terms of utility, though not the most maneuverable artillery system. its eighteen four foot long barrels allow large bursts of 17cm flak shells to be fired rapidly. At full speed being reloaded by trained operators, firing rates have been noted to be at levels of nearly forty rounds per minute. Each side of the artillery can be loaded while the other is firing, leading to a relatively advanced system, though noted by some operators to be "grueling" to operate for even moderate periods of time. These are a useful defense for the cities of Rantaar and are most commonly paired with two Zalera type turrets, one on each side to wrest control of a zone of the walls.
Melee Weapons OverviewMelee weaponry given to the military cadets includes, large war mauls, pikes, halberds, swords, shields and maces, though weaponry is diversified based on race. All units are expected to be able to carry at least a sidearm, primary weapon, and a close quarters weapon.
The Siege Wall
Number In Service: 2,374
Personnel: 3 Crew Members
A wall originally crafted by the minotaurs, an average size of twelve feet high, by fourteen feet wide, Its a massive wall made of oak and steel. Four inches of oak, then infront of that, one by one plates of third inch steel. Along the bottom there are several wheels, spaced at about two feet apart each. A locking mechanism installed on them, for other purposes. In the siege wall there are three four inch in diameter holes that can be opened and sealed from the rear. (A Skred and Human addition.) From which you can fire all sorts of ranged weaponry through. Often carried with these walls are two beams which can support the weight of the wall to leave it as a temporary fortification that can only be moved by the “giants” and “beasts” of the free cities.
Ranged Weapons OverviewSpica Standard Issue SidearmNumber In Service: Estimated 1,700,000
The Spica, standard issue is an easily re-loadable semi automatic .22 caliber handgun. Simple as that, its magazine holds sixteen rounds, and can empty is clip in three seconds of continuous fire. Assuming it doesn't jam. Most conscripts like and train with the weapon, though the trigger happy tend to dislike it due to its relatively frequent jamming problems if you “hold down” the trigger. Due to its simple and cheap design, many have been made, and the older versions of the gun are given to the newest conscripts, lucky them.
Capella “Shoulder Boulder” Mk IXNumber In Service: Estimated 220,000
The Capella, originally a solution for the problem of cannons being to bulky and hard to use in an active push of war, these were developed to provide a solution. The shoulder boulder is a 17cm cannon ball firing personal mortar, newer models being also able to be loaded with flak designed to be fired from the Mateus class turrets that defend the free cities. These are widely popular among Minotaur, Rhox and Leonis recruits, due to their ease of use, and explosive firepower. The downside is the relatively long reloading times, taking an average eight second from a skilled use. And the shorter effective range than true artillery, being passably accurate up ranges of two-hundred feet.
Fomalhaut Mk VIIINumber In Service: Estimated 170,000
The Fomalhaut, a relatively standard issue rifle, loaded with two .50 caliber rounds. Its has deadly stopping power, and can for the most part, be seen in use by mostly supporting infantry. Accurate at ranges of up to 500 yards it can be fired twice in rapid succession before needing to be reloaded. Despite its ease of use, and accurate range, it was not immensely popular among the heavy lifters of the army, usually carried by skred, humans, or satyrs that managed to find themselves near the front line.
Aldebaran Mk XNumber In Service: Estimated 300,000
The Aldebaran, one of the many things that the heavy lifters wanted from R&D, a single barrel gun that has two options for munitions, a .60 caliber armor penetrating round, or a single shotgun shell that will scatter and mow through the weaklings out front. When opened to reload the design pushes the shell casing out and can be reloaded and fired again in under two-seconds be a skilled user. Great for trench warfare, and guerrilla tactics as every shot hit with the gun will matter.
Gastrophetes Mk XXXNumber In Service: Estimated 50,000
The Gastrophetes, the epitome of anti-infantry guns. It fires a shell with 32 individual “rounds” in it that scatter and destroy anything in its way that isn't heavily armored. A Favorite of the overzealous its has an eleven round clip, and is exceptionally loud, and deadly at close ranges. But quickly loses out when ranges exceed 30 yards. Each round must be manually cycled, to prevent jamming. It also suffers from being heavy. Clocking in at a weight of eighteen pounds. A toy for the overzealous, and a thing to stay away from if you want to return from the fray, no matter which side you serve.
Ras Algethi Mk XXVNumber In Service: Estimated 20,000
The Ras Algethi, a relatively new addition to the armory of the Rantaar military, a heavy rifle that boasts a .79 caliber armor piercing munition. Coming with a clip of seven. Effective at ranges up to 750 yards. It is the first experiment with optics in the Rantaar armies. Each bullet must be manually cycled and its sound is not negligible. Its unwieldy to use in trench warfare, but when the terrain allows for it. This rifle can be used to great effect to take out enemy commanders and significantly lower morales in a few short shots.
Famfrit Mk LIXNumber In Service: Estimated 10,000
The Famfrit is just what the heavy lifters ordered. A five barrel rotating gatling gun that shoots .50 caliber rounds from a belt fed system. A special clip was designed to hold belts up to 150 rounds in length, or the can be fed directly from a box of munitions. It will stop many things in their tracks, and is often toted by the front line when making a push. There have been accounts of it being called the Slaughterhorn, due to Rhox and Minotaurs joking about it being a horn that can kill from range.
Salamander Mk XXVINumber In Service: Estimated 6,000
The Salamander is an exceptionally new prototype weapon, despite the large amount produced, many are duds and simply do not work as intended. It shoots flames from its tip at ranges of around twenty feet. Powered by compressed natural gasses, the three canisters connected to it provide about three minutes of flames each, thus provided nine minutes of continuous flames without reloading. Just a pull of a lever to switch which tank is to be used. A growing favorite among the front line, and devastating in the later stages of sieges, and all through trench warfare.
Antares Mk XVIINumber In Service: Estimated 2,000
The Antares is the newest weapon on the block, art of the star of internal combustion engines, ran on gas rather than steam and coal lead to the creation of a weaponized fuel known now as 'vulcan'. A highly causic mixture of gas and other chemicals creates a gel like substance that sticks and burns whatever it touches when exposed to flame. Useful in many application. Such as creating a wall of flames to prevent pursuers or to deny an area from the enemy. A well purposed control weapon that is growing in popularity, and likely would grow more if it wasn't for the large amount of operational casualties. The 'vulcan' as its known comes in a pressurized tank that the user must wear on their back, and attach to the tubes of the Antares. There is also a smaller pressurized can of gasses that must be attached to maintain the pilot light. The flames spat by the Antares can burn for times averaging at five minutes, though water is an effective counter measure. Effective at ranges up to 30 yards.
