Posted. Sorry it took so long.

Also, I like Rusalka's character idea. Mostly because she'd get along well with my character who is similar, but a bit more extreme in musical taste.
Lucy's amps we're set up on stage already. She had been there and set up silently and then gone back to get her weapon of choice, Lamashtu. Drake wasn't the only one who named his instruments. It was actually a pretty common practice in her experience. Less common was her own take on it; of naming one's instrument after ancient Babylonian demon queens & blessing the instrument in their name.

It wasn't unheard of among the metal bands she had been a part of in the past but it wasn't actually common, even amongst them. It seemed that most of those types despised spirituality and sought physical pleasure above all else. Lucy Fire was a bit of an oddity. Her stage presence was always a bit more solemn and intense than it was hedonistic and passionate. Not that it was as noticeable as the guitarists' or singer's. But then it wasn't supposed to be. Bass was a foundational instrument. Not a lead instrument. It was generally up to her & the drummer to keep the rythm, tempo & energy of a song moving in proper time.

In the back of the building the metal chick prayed to and invoked the spirit of Lamashtu over her namesake. The time was upon her to deliver the pulse of the worlds lifeforce. After all, she reasoned, wasn't music the blood of nations if not entire civilizations?

"I'm ready," she anounced to Jack and Landon as she walked out onto the stage, clad in black leather and carrying her savage looking instrument. "This is gonna be a good set. I can feel it."

Yep...definitely powerful!If you read a few posts back, you may know that my character will probably be a mainly water-magic based Shaman, which is basically the opposite of your character. I will be interesting to find out if they will be enemies or friends :DAnd Lekkuen, is there any kind of group or organisation amongst the Zhu (and/or all their sub-species) that are campaigning for equal rights for males? I know that they're not exactly oppressed, but they don't seem to be on the same level?.

I would question wether the modern concept of equality is applicable to an alien species such as this.

At the very least, from what I've read of the setting so far, I'm thinking that my character would see pleas for "equal rights" as unneeded and ultimately undermining of natural and spiritual harmony.
The two systems don't translate very easily, and I'm only particularly versed in the western elements.

As I understand it, however, the chinese elements are earth, metal, wood, fire and water. Is that Correct? It's been a while.

Anyway, those scholars & mystics who've attempted a direct corrolation tend to agree that the chinese significance of wood and metal are similar to the western earth and air, respectivly. While the western element of spirit is akin to the chinese conception of earth. Or something like that. I found it all a bit difficult when I was studying the chinese system to be perfectly honest.
Aether is often excluded and it's association is with the center rather than the cardinal directions. While it is the inner self, I have seen emothions and feelings (along with art and beauty) more often associated with water. For example, in Jade Empire there are four Magic Styles based around the four elements except with ice replacing water, while Aether is represented by the very Chi through which these magics are used. Aether is always on a deeper level than the four material elements, so I would say that Aether fits best with the Great Mother, Herself. And possibly the Empress by extension.

Aether/Void/Spirit/Whatever you call it is one element, but it is the only spiritual element while the other four are physical. To expand my previous thought by adding it:

Earth = Zhuni
Water = Xerin
Air = Xenkorian
Fire = Etherians
Aether = The Zhu Empire (The whole of the Zhu Empire working in Harmony with nature and the Great Mother.)
I don't know if this was intended, but according to traditional myth and legend, those four races breakdown elementally almost perfectly. Using the standard symbolism of the 4 common western elements the Zhu races listed seem to fit pretty easily as follows:

Earth = Zhuni (might, discipline & military prowess being earthy)
Water = Xerin (grace, dancing & the larger families being quite watery)
Air = Xenkorian (cunning, and most mental faculties being traditionally airy)
Fire = Etherians (Berzerking plus red & pink skin tones being extremely firey)
Wait, I'm confused. Does the Zhu Empire stretch across many planets? I thought it was only on one planet...
I love it. That info makes the concept even more appealing to me.

Now, I know you said it's not the same thing as JE, but do they have any common traditional/religious sayings/proverbs like "The Empress is the foundation on which we build..."???
Sweet! What are some legends, lore, factions and such that said character would be aware of? Or other fun tidbits of information that might be important for her?
