MARY BETHBlue-Gilded Phophetic Gateway into the Heart of a False God, Smiter of the Eye of the Twisted Fomorian King Who Wields the Mistaken Crux of the Starlit Abyss Age: 17
Nationality: English-Polish, born and raised in Danzig.
Personality: The word "chuunibyou" is used to refer to a syndrome typically acquired in the early adolescent years by some, particularly for individuals who never grow out of such a phase. Ordinarily, those who are subject to this sort of behavior grow out of it by around the age of fifteen.
Fifteen year olds suck.
Mary can be called an unparalleled paragon of chuunibyou, one who was predetermined from birth to follow such a path. If fate does truly exist, then she can be called an existence that is irreparably bound to and yet wholeheartedly accepts her fate. She believes without question that she is a being on par with a god, and in fact believed this prior to even becoming a magical girl. If asked about her family history, she weaves a complex genealogy of varying celestial and demonic beings. Something worth noting is that she never gives the same family tree twice, but each time she gives it, she believes it earnestly. It cannot be said that she lies; rather, her beliefs reorient themselves constantly in order to align themselves with her moods and vacillations. In that sense, Mary would probably make a good politician if it wasn't for the whole chuunibyou thing.
In interactions with others, she is recklessly narcissistic, ostentatious, loudmouthed, and so on. An utterly ridiculous person without peer. Viewing all others as subordinates, inferiors, lesser beings, jesters, and the like, she proclaims herself as a being of a higher standing. Even with regards to those who are objectively above her in ability, such as otherworldly monsters from a higher dimension, transcendent gods who exist outside of time, or Principal Jefferson, she does not change this demeanor. For those rare individuals who either believe her words or pretend to play along though, she treats them as valued "sidekicks", though they are still of course disposable pawns. As one could imagine, she has the concept of protagonism so hammered into her soul that it cannot be divorced. Probably great at parties, if she doesn't get kicked out by virtue of being a buffoon.
Afflictions: -
Wish: "Gahaha! Yes small fluff-thing, it is good that you understand your duty is to serve your god! My heart's desire...bring to me a cupcake from that bakery down the street! My family matriarch has refused to give me my weekly allowance because of the Demon Lord's conquest of the Nether Realm!" It is worth noting that the cupcake was delicious.
Biography: English father, Polish mother, Mary was born and raised in the ever-shifting town of Danzig. Frankly, there's not much that needs to be said about the majority of Mary's life. Her father was a factory worker with pay that was survivable but not extravagant, her mother was a part-time tutor for children in the town. Attending school was a simple task, and went better than one would expect given Mary's temperament. As small children tend to be rather ridiculous, Mary's nature was concealed amidst a sea of others, though she got in trouble more than a few times for telling teachers that they could not tell her what to do, as they were not herself. The trouble, however, came when she was fifteen. The reason for this is simple.
Fifteen.
Year.
Olds.
Suck.
At this point in her life, Mary's classmates had largely all outgrown their childish absurdities. This only meant that Mary herself now stood out as a buffoon. Actions that were once tolerable because she was but a drop of water in an ocean were now infuriating because she was a drop of water in a desert. The young girl became branded as a social outcast, got in a fair amount of disciplinary trouble for constantly talking back, and became something of a laughingstock. Her parents became increasingly exasperated with her attitude, and both her relationship with her parents and her parents' relationship with one another became strained. At least she got good grades.
However, it is worth noting that, during this time, Mary never once paid heed to any of these things. When approached by a certain alien with the promise of a wish, Mary did not wish to fix her relationship with her parents or fix their marriage, nor to make more friends or clean her school record. After all, when it is the person who is the problem and not the world, they will fail to acknowledge such a problem. Consequently, deciding she was doing the alien a favor and entirely unfazed by its presence because
hey, she had just seen an alien last week and it was way cooler than this one, she made a wish on a flight of fancy.
Since then, she's started work as a magical girl, though she currently thinks that those times she was swinging a broom around like a sword at the air to fight things that didn't exist was basically the same thing. Things have been pretty standard, and she's been at it for a while.
It's honestly a miracle she hasn't died yet.
Skills: Academia: Reading, writing, arithmetic, sciences, etc. Above average. It's actually worth noting that, thanks to her chuuni nature, Mary's knowledge of reading/writing is top-notch thanks to being able to make sense of all sorts of uncommon words. Very fast reader. Knows a lot of complicated science words but uses them incorrectly; it's unclear as to whether or not this is intentional.
Singing: Unironically good at this. She does it too much though. Like, way too much.
Charisma: In terms of addressing a crowd, public speaking, personal willpower, persuasive ability and the like, Mary can be called first-rate among seventeen year olds. The content of what is said mitigates this pretty harshly though.
Improvisation (Stories): Capability to create tales and worldbuilding that make the Silmarillion seem tame, all in the span of a second and a half. A ridiculous existence who can weave complex narratives that not even she can follow. The peak of possibility in the art.
Cooking (Confectionaries): Creation of food. Specializes in the creation of sweets, though she cannot be called an expert. In an attempt to better "lift the transient veil that lies upon [my] saccharine specialization", she has recently taken to selling some homemade caramels, lollipops, and so on. It's closer to a hobby than a part-time job, but she's been learning how to make delicious candies without the higher-end equipment fairly well. Insists that this is integral to her ability as a magical girl; it isn't clear how, since she could do relatively similar stuff with her power instead of via a kitchen.
Threads of Fate: 1. It's only natural.
Magical Weapon: A gigantic sword-shaped lollipop, formed of material equivalent to her magic's sugar. Multicolored. Delicious. Pointy.
Experience: 5
Magical Ability:Core Ability- Saccharine Specialization Imagination Realization: Sugar Creation. The ability to create sugar at a place within the user's line of sight/general perception. Even if the senses are cut off, sugar can be shot out of the hands like some sort of sugar-constructed beam; as it is sugar though, it won't do much. The grain size of the sugar is decided by the user, as is the kind of sugar. The worst enemy of dentists everywhere.
Secondary Ability- Lord of Saccharine's Absolute Dominion: Physical control of the sugar created by this ability, ergo the ability to manipulate it via will however the user desires. Only applies to sugar made through this ability.
Secondary Ability- Lord of Saccharine's Tyrannical Conversion: Capability to convert nonliving materials that are in contact with controlled sugar into controlled sugar themselves; the total energy of the converted substances is stored in the sugar, even if this would surpass its physical limits. However, one person can only control so much sugar.
Secondary Ability- Lord of Saccharine's Unending Sprawl: Capacity of the user to use the location of controlled sugar as a beacon location at which to create more sugar; in other words, a means of bypassing the line-of-sight limitation, contingent on her sugar already being in the given location. Naturally this means she can also "sense" the location of her sugar.
Secondary Ability- Lord of Saccharine's Eternal Monument: Capability to create structures of sugar, using magical energy as a binding agent. Specific properties of the structure naturally depend on things like the grain of sugar used. It can also be used on individual sugar particles to strengthen them magically so that harming/affecting them requires overpowering the magical energy used to strengthen, and provides the perception to do so, but this is several times less efficient than binding multiple particles together at once. Notable for the fact that these structures/strengthenings continue to exist even when not transformed, as they don't require a constant flow of power like commanding sugar does.
Signature and Finisher:Signature- Lord of Saccharine's Diabetic Carousel: Forced expansion of desired amounts of sugar, turning them from their initial size to a larger one at the discretion of the user. Does not change the number of sugar particles, but does change the mass/volume of each one that is designated.
