You could also just write that your female character was chosen to be the leader by her father. The North is different from the rest of the realm, so have at it.
Feel free to choose your own alliances and allegiances. Crakehall (Agentmanatee) is a great bundle of fun, Tyrell (Kingkonrad) is oodles of fun too, Main Targaryen (Bluetommy) is epic too, really does a great job at being a crazy Targaryen version of Joffrey, Baraetheon (Bloodweb) is definitely the most unique out of the bunch, choosing to follow a different route for a character, but as a result has led to a rebellion in his lands, Harlaw (BigPapaBelail) well, lets just say he is Iron Born Drowned God Avatar! And lastly, you has Cadet Targaryen (Me/Abefroeman), who told everyone to jog on, and went to create their own kingdom.

Suffice to say, you have many options, many players to interact with, and so many ways to move forward. Have fun, and may the Great Game begin.
TO chime in, as one of the Targaryen players, here is a full abridged version of the events thus far.

Well, I'll start from the beginning and work to the present. It started off pretty hot, with most of the major houses being filled up. As the usual, a decent number of folks dropped out, leaving a void. House's Stark, Tully, Arryn, and Martell are all open for sure. Minor houses are also fair game, and if you wanted, you could always make your own minor house out of the blue.

So, on to other things. I'd say we currently have five/maybe six dedicated folks roleplaying in the rp right now. That includes myself. We have House Tyrell, House Crakehall (in the timeline, House Lannister was deposed at the conclusion of Daenerys conquest, their lands given to the Crakehall's. The male's were sent to the wall, and the females married off to other families), House Targaryen (Played by me and another, I am the cadet branch while the other player is the main line.), House Baratheon (he is dealing with a full scale rebellion, lucky him), a House Harlaw (The Greyjoys for the most part were recently wiped out by the Crakehall's.)

So, onto the plot, in a somewhat abridged version. Daenerys and Aegon VI join forces, and reconquer the Seven Kingdoms, yey. Lots of violence, killing, etc, followed by a few decades of instability. Targaryen forces march and eradicate the Whitewalker threat once and for all. Or, so we think/thought. Lots of Targaryen baby making and incest, plus other families marrying in, brings us to the current timeline.

We have King Aegon IX, and his two sons, Aegon X and Daenys Targaryen. As with old folks, King Aegon IX croaks, dying of old age. His son takes the throne, only to be poisoned by his brother, Daenys, in the hopes of taking the throne himself. Surprise, the will of King Aegon IX or X, states that Daenys is not chosen in the line of succession. Low and behold, a scramble for the Iron Throne ensues.

The Crakehall Leader throws his hat into the ring, claiming right through intermarriage. Daenys claims the throne, as he is the son of Aegon IX, but he is said to be a mad, homosexual crazy man, so, his support is tenuous at best. My characters, Targaryen sisters decendant from a young brother of Aenys Targaryen III, father to King Aegon VIII, say their claim is best. Tyrell forces and other forces loyal to the thone declare of Daenys son, Aerys Targaryen III, who as it turns out, is just as much a despicable human as his father, who is not eligible for ascending the throne. ((IN other words, a big ol cluster F to see who will take the Iron Throne.))

Well, all this instability creates a massive fight between the Crakehalls in the Westerlands, and the Tyrells of the Reach. Daenys loyalist forces try their best, but end up being defeated. My Targaryen forces try to put me in power, and try to convince the Tyrells, who refuse, and put Aerys on the throne instead. During this time, the Greyjoys declare their independence, and start raiding and burning everything along the West coast of Westeros. The other major houses remain neutral (their players dropping out before any real action could take place.) The war is mainly between the Tyrell forces in the Reach and the Crownlands, with sporadic help from the Baratheon forces in the Stormlands, who are contending with a full scale rebellion.

I choose to leave with all my forces, and conquer the Stepstones, declaring my character Queen of the Stepstones, uniting all these islands under her rule with the help of her younger sister, and the two dragons they have. Big power struggle back on Westeros, no side able to really take full control. Aerys III takes a blow to the head, and goes into a coma. Viola, the kingdom is semi-without a king again. The Tyrells also end up getting the aid of 20k Yunkish slave soldiers, which to me, is vile and wrong. Cue Tyrell's coming to the Stepstones to broker a new deal.

The Tyrell main lord and the Targaryen younger sister are betrothed, and are working to convince the Cadet branch Targaryen leader to come back to the mainland, to take the throne. Long story short, we messed up, picked the wrong guy, and please come back and fix things for us. Figures. So, that leads to the current alliances.

You have Rhaenyra Targaryen II (that's me) and her loyalists forces, who are comprised of the houses of the Northern Crownlands. House Tyrell and all the Reach houses. House Baratheon, though it is severely hindered at the moment due to a civil war/rebellion. This comprises Team Purple.

Then, you have Lord Crakehall, and all the houses of the Westerlands. Its pretty much just him and his loyal subjects, they make Team Brown.

You have the Aerys Targaryen III loyalists, which without the Tyrells, is not much. The only saving grace for them is Drogon, the Black Dread reborn. Team Red.

Some last little tid bits, House Greyjoy got steamrolled, and is now replaced by House Harlaw as the primary leader of the Iron Islands. The Greyjoys are still alive, but their power is greatly reduced. War has only touched the lands of the Reach, Westerlands, Stormlands, Crownlands, and small border skirmishes with Dorne/the Reach.

I am greatly enjoying the roleplay, and I am actively working with the GM and Co-Gm to flesh out the lore, give more info, etc. (Family Trees, battles, alliances, so on.) We are mainly relying on the Books for the lore, but anything after book Five is all us.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Aegon is alive in the books. He is changed out with a peasant's baby, and hidden away by Varys. Daenerys, according to the lore set up by Bluetommy, has her marrying her cousin Aegon VI.
The Targaryen Family tree. A taste of many more updates and polishing factors to come.

HI!!!! I am super pumped for this.

Have a medical appointment at 1:45 PM PST, so will disappear for a little for that, but will get back on afterwords.

Reinhard sat at his desk, adjusting the bandages that covered his face. He would clack his teeth lightly, drawing in a dry breath of air. He didn't really need to breath, nor need air, but, for some reason, he still continued to do so. His service pistol was on the table, currently taken apart in order to clean it. The fan above him spun methodically, creating a cool drafting of air, though it made no real difference to him. Across for Reinhard sat a Ljósálfar female, still valiantly struggling against the bindings that held her in place. In a dry, irritated voice, he spoke out to the woman.

"Its of no use to fight any more Fraulein. You and your bodyguards have lost... at least I have chosen to spare you for the time being. Your guards, not so much." He steepled his fingers, whilst looking at the Elf. She had a black eye, and a split lip, along with a few other bruises, but such can not be helped when capturing someone. "Your magic will not work here, no matter how much you pray, try, and resist, it will not work. Your kind are far too predictable, Fraulein, too easy to outvit. No doubt you are used to dealing with the more run of ze mill type of dead, and Vampires. I am neither, and you will soon learn why that is so." He sighed, a dry airy raspy sigh.

"Let me tell you a story, one that you may have heard from a certain point of view, but perhaps not from mein." He stood up, and walked over to the other side of his desk, sitting atop the desk, looking the Elf directly in her eyes. She stared back, hateful and angry, still thinking and trying to find a way out, a means of escape, holding onto the embers of hope.

"You know the Holocaust, yes? You've heard the stories, of all the dead, the Antisemitism, final solution, blah blah blah? Yes, of course you have, who hasn't? You can't go anywhere without people reminding one another just how great of a job you did, stopping the killing. Von sing is, you are very wrong as to the purpose behind this systematic eradication of an entire people... or perhaps groups of people." He smiled, the dry dead skin of his face tightening, making the smile seem much more unsettling than a normal smile would.

"You can smell it, I see how your wrinkle your nose at the stench, the aroma. You have been taught your whole life what it is, how to avoid it. The taint of the other side, of Hell. Why else do you think I am alive, after all these years? I can tell you know what I am speaking about, and better yet, I can see how much it scares you, even if you sit there all fight and no humility." He removed the bandages from around his face, letting them fall to the table beside him. He smiled again, letting out a low cackle of malicious amusement.

The Elf leaned back in her chair, trying to keep her distance from Reinhard. The wave of demonic energy that came off of him was nauseating, it was choking and painful, at least it was to the Elf. Reinhard's eyes were glowing a bright green, the sockets where a normal set of eyes would be occupied a set of seemingly glowing orbs. "As you can see... I am not like the others you have come across foolish Elf. Now you fully understand what I am, you will begin to see the full scope of everything, and why I have spared you."

He stood up, moving now to stand behind the Elf, placing his hands on her shoulders. She tried to move away, but how far could one really move when tied to a chair. "The Black Sun Society was instrumental in coordinating the movement of all that fuel, of all those human sacrifices. Six million Jews, a million other undesirables, the Untermench. Of course, they said it was because we hated them, that they were inferior, but no, the real reasons were far darker, Fraulein. Far, far darker. The dark secrets we learned, the foul things we did... it was all for the greatness of the Reich, and for the Black Sun." He paused, leaning down to have his face next to the Elf's. "Buchenwald, Auschwitz, Dachau, you called them concentration camps, but to me, they were sacrificial alters. Great fuel depots for what we had to do, what we wanted to do. Why do you think we almost won the Battle of the Bulge? Hmm? The only reason you won was that we had our hands tied up until the very end, we were feared as much as we were valuable. So Elf, tell me, what makes you think you know anything?" Reinhard stood back up, fixing his uniform before returning to his chair.

"Your blood is far more powerful than you have ever known Elf... far more powerful then even ten thousand humans. Your guards, they were of great use to me, but you, Fraulein, you are of even greater use to me. Blood magic, and demon magic, these powerful magics are the gateway to the future. And you, you will help me achieve these goals. You are alive because I allowed it, and because I need you as much as you need me. The Vampire, they hate your kind, the two guards were payment for you... so when I tell you to be thankful, and to submit, remember, there are fates far worse than death."
@kingkonrad@bluetommy2, lets get a collab going for the purpose of fleshing out the lore of our roleplaying universe, fix the family tree situation for the Targaryens. I am working on a Family tree creator that is free, so I can create a visual representation for the line of sucession starting from Daenerys and Aegon VI. It'd be a fun way to spend the day, and would make it easier for new folks to get a grasp of things. Plus, on the bright side, we can fill in any plot holes/unclarities/etc.
@agentmanatee Don't you worry comrade. I think I will try and make an abridged history of events thus far, just need to motivate myself to do so.

This really quick version is that the Tyrell's have met with the Targaryen dissidents out in the Stepstones, and are plotting events that will affect the mainland.
Sounds groovy. I am just looking through, and it looks like there are at least five houses/cs that are from people who are MIA/dropped out.

I think Vhagar's House Greyjoy is gone, and I don't I've seen any action from him in a while.
Kingfisher's Yunkish Merc lady is gone, with the mercs now under Tyrell control.
Cold Hands' House Tully is defunct, haven't seen any recent posts from him.
Major Ursa has been quiet, not sure if he is still around, House Arryn is seemingly defunct.
Dawnscroll's House Stark is gone, haven't seen posts from him in a while.
Apoalo's House Martell is gone, he hasn't been around/posted recently.
VoiD's House Redfort hasn't posted at all, from what I can tell.
Bored Onion with his King Beyond the Wall faction is missing.
joesephb's House Stanton is missing, he hasn't peaked his head in for a while.
KabenSaal's House Greyjoy/Character has yet to post from what I can see.

Its a bummer, because these folks are maybe on an outwards glance, filling up valuable spots that other folks may wish to play/use.
