Charlotte
“Daddy!” Charlotte screamed, reaching out toward her protector as his metal body collided with a wall. She wanted to run toward him, leaning her body forward in an attempt to reach her protector. The slick suited figure who had attacked her Big Daddy restrained in a caged position, adamant in keeping Charlotte separated from her Daddy. Fearful that she could lose her only known protector, the one who has kept her alive all this time, Charlotte balled up his hand and began to smash them into the leg of the attacker. It didn’t seem to faze it, however, considering it was too focused on her Daddy to take notice of the weak pounding of the small child.
Still, she was persistent, hitting the tall metal figure with all her strength, which wasn’t much. “Leave. My. Daddy. ALONE!” she demanded, taking a hit between every word. A familiar groan caught her attention and she watched as her protector tried to regain its balance only to be struck it the face with a ball of fire.
“No!” The Daddy staggered back, its gas tank clinking against the wall. It didn’t take long for it to react, bringing the drill up to its chest and letting it rev like there’s no tomorrow. It let out a loud, low groan, the red lights from his helmet burned bright with anger. It lifted its knee before stomping on the ground. The ground shook, the vibrations of the impact was enough to knock anyone who wasn’t a hulking mass of metal off their feet. At this, Charlotte found herself clutching on the leg of the skinny beast for support, a smile emerging from her face at her protector’s retaliation. It followed up the stomp with a quick dash, kicking off toward the assailant like a projectile, drill pointed at its chest.
Mason
Mason walked over to Kennedy when he noticed a sudden change in her expression. She had her hand over her mouth, her eyes wide in shock. He placed a hand over her shoulder and took a look at the paper in her hand. Before he could interpret what his comrade had reacted to, the paper fell to the ground. He heard Samuel give Kennedy some sort of remark before picking up the paper himself. His eyes drifted to the top corner of the paper and saw what Kennedy had seen. They were a longer ways from home than he had originally thought. The portal didn’t just take them out of Columbia. It took them out of time. Mason clenched the paper, hearing the crunch of the material. They were in the future. He couldn’t help but wonder if Columbia was still out there; if his daughter had continued to live her life without him all these years. For him, it had only been mere minutes. For her, it had been decades. He took in a breath before swallowing the shock.
A loud roar and a high screech nearly caused Mason to jump. He looked around the area and saw that there wasn’t really anyone else here other than the Knights and Samuel. “What the hell…?” he murmured to himself. He looked to Samuel for answers, following the man as he explained the situation.
The sudden appearance of a grungy looking man caused Mason to reach for his shorty. He stopped when he introduced himself as the green mist from earlier. Mason took a second to compose himself before narrowing his eyes at the new face. “Thomas, huh? Who are you, and why have you been following us?” he questioned, feeling uncomfortable with the fact that this man had been around unnoticed, probably abusing the Possession vigor to his advantage. Before he could get an answer, a loud crash came from beside him.
Mason could see the source of the commotion. This wasn’t something you’d see in Columbia: three metal figures, two large and one slim, and a young child between them. What was a little girl doing in such a place? he wondered. He knew she was in danger but it didn’t appear to him that she was aware of the danger herself. At least, not completely. She was hitting a taller figure, a more feminine metal…thing. All three of the metal monsters appeared highly hostile, the young girl in the middle of all the fighting. Samuel explained that the “Big Daddies” protect the little girl, but it seemed like the feminine figure was trying to do the same. Mason turned to Samuel, a confused look about him.
“Which one is protecting her, exactly?” he asked. It seemed like a valid question, as there were two of these Big Daddies and the mysterious protector fighting over the girl.
